SOUTHERN CHRISTIAN ADVOCATE, newspaper of the Methodist Episcopal church, April 5, 1850:

"Richard Dearman was born in Richmond, N. C., 25th March 1783; removed when he was a child to Darlington dist., S. C., where he married Miss Margaret Davis, May 1st, 1807; joined the M. E. Church the same year, removed to Madison co., Ala., Jan. 1822, and to St. Clair co., March, 1827, where he closed his life 30th April 1849, in his 67th year. He was a father in Israel. He had many children, all of whom became members of the M. E. Church; some are in paradise. Father D. served the church long and usefully as class leader. Often when conversing on the subject of religion his soul was filled with joy and gladness, and the praises of God Dwelt upon his tongue. E. McMeans. "
