BIOGRAPHY: Edward Emary Williamson was born March 18, 1822 in Eastern Shore, Caroline county, Maryland. Died April 21, 1908, age-86 years, 1 month ,3 days, Hopeville, Iowa. Edward moved to Fayette County, Indiana in 1826, wiht his folks, where he lived for twenty nine years. While living here, he was united in marriage to Mary Shields, in February 1843, Stark County, Indiana.
To this union were nine children, one having died in infancy and one, "Mrs Milton (Lillie) Daniel" in February 1907. The remaining seven survied him and were by his bedside during his Last illness. He removed to Iowa in 1855. Here his wife died January 19, 1872. On April 6, 1876, he was agian united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Rice. To this union were born five children, two having died in infancy. The remaining three with the aged wife are left to mourn the loss of a kind husband and father.
EDWARD E. WILLIAMSON, a resident of Hopeville, is a native of Caroline County, Maryland, born March 18, 1822. When he was about seven years of age, in 1829, his father, Elijah Williamson, removed with his family to Fayette County, Indiana.Our subject was reared to manhood in Indiana, and in January, 1844, was married to Miss Mary Shields. Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Williamson, of whom eight still survive-- Sarah J., Elijah, Elizabeth, Lillie C., John S., Mary F., Charles E. and Rosetta. Mrs. Williamson died, and April 6, 1876, Mr. Williamson married his present wife, Mary E. Rice, by whom he has had five children, three of whom are living-- Robert W., Thomas A. and William H.
Mr. Williamson came to Iowa in 1856, and since the fall of 1858, has been a resident of Clarke County. He is one of the oldest settlers now living in Clarke County, with whose interests he has been identified for almost thirty years, and is one of the respected citizens of Hopeville, where he now makes his home.
