Charles Augustus ALEXANDER

OBITUARY OF CHARLES AUGUSTUS ALEXANDER, October 1931

On October 22 Charles A. Alexander died at the home ofhis daughter, Mrs. E. E. McPherson of Pataha. He had been ill for thelast year.
Mr. Alexander was born September 20, 1848 at Bellevue Iowa, the sonof Mr. & Mrs. Hugh Alexander. His is survived by four brothers, Marion,Grant, Banks, and John, all living in the east.
He joined the Union Army when but 16 years of age and served untilthe end of the war. He was married to Martha Chenoweth on October 16,1873. To this union were born eight children, two of whom survive. Mrs.Sarah Lee of Kansas City, Kansas, and Mrs. E. E. McPherson of Pataha. Heis also survived by 22 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
His only son lost his life in the world war.
The funeral was held Saturday October 24, at 10:30 a. m., the Rev.D. H. Morris, officiating. The palllbearers were W. E. Graham, R. R.Keith, A. G. Farley, W. W. Prouty, Abner Parker, J. G. Miller.
The American Legion furnished a military escort to the cemetery andhad charge of the services at the grave.


Elbert ALEXANDER

DEATH: Was severely woundedin the head during World War I and survived for about a month in aFrench Hospital. Helost about half of his head and his surviving as long as he did wasnothing short of miraculous, as Elbert was a hemphilliac. At the time ofhis death Elbert was engaged to Miss Mae Carter.
