    I have some information on a SCROGGINS family who lived in MARSHALL and ETOWAH counties in 1870 and 1880 respectively, and wonder if they possibly connect with yours.

    There is a Warren C. Scroggins b. abt. 1814 in GA, wife Harriet b. abt. 1806 in GA, bought land in Elba, AL (Pike Co?). He and family lived in Barbour Co, AL, 1860. He died sometime bet. 1861 and 1870, possibly Civil War, [4th Batt'n. Hilliard's Legion, Alabama Artillery, Alabama Volunteers, COMPANY: B, Private.]

    Their children were: Elizabeth, Americus, William H., Judith Antoinette, Columbus A., and Warren,Jr.

    In 1870, Harriet and a couple of the children are living in MARSHALL CO, AL, and by 1880, Harriet is living in ETOWAH CO, AL, with her dtr Judith and son-in-law, Ashley BRYAN. Said Ashley Bryan was my great-great-grandfather and Judith SCROGGINS was his 3rd wife.

    I saw your posting for BLOUNT CO, AL, and, as you know, from Blount Co, you run all over Marshall and Etowah County lines.

    Do your SCROGGINS possibly connect with the Scroggins names I mentioned? Even though I connect through Ashley Bryan's first wife, not Judith, I just discovered that Ashley Bryan and Warren Scroggins probably knew each other (they were the same age, possible relationship through connecting marriage? or just neighbors)when they lived in south Alabama.

    They both bought land in 1858 in Elba, Alabama, and they lived in adjoining counties, Ashley in Pike Co, AL, in 1860 and Warren (W.C.) Scroggins, in Barbour Co. Warren's son Columbus Scroggins lived in Pike Co, AL, in 1910. (There is another Columbus Scroggins in AL about the same age, but I believe he is a different one than Warren's son, who was b. bet. 1859-1860).

    I tried to look you up in the Blount Co area phone directories, but too many Scott Martins. I live in a connecting county.
