   John D. Dial, son of the late Charlie Dial and Nellie Williams Dial, was born in Cuba, Ala., on April 5, 1933, and died at his home near Dexter, on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, at the age of 72.
   
   He was a former resident of Alabama, Granite City, Ill., Charter Oak, and had been a resident of Dexter since 1994. He was a member of the Eagles, the Am Vets in Illinois and Union Local 67.
   
   On July 12, 1952, he was married to Anna Ruth Scroggins at Piggott, Ark.
   
   Surviving are his wife, Anna Ruth Dial of Dexter; two sons, David Bruce Dial of Granite City, Ill., and James Dial of Mitchell, Ill.; one daughter, Ruth Byrum of Mitchell; five brothers, Robert Dial of California, Jim and Jake Dial, both of Indiana, Walt and Pete Dial, both of Alabama; two grandsons, Joshua and Jacob Byrum.
   
   He was preceded in death by two brothers.
   
   Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
   
   Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Mike Watkins of Dexter officiating.
   
   Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
