    [Photo] Rev. Clarence E. Scroggins Sr., 77, of Kansas City, Mo., died on Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at the St. Joseph Medical center.

    Scroggins was born on January 31, 1927, in Checotah, Okla., to John and Lena Scroggin. Both parents, three brothers, Ennis Scroggins Sr., Theodore Issac and Ivalee Scroggins; three sisters, Emma Lee Bennett, Mary Gardner and Theople Johnson, all preceded him in death.

    He was educated in the public schools of Oklahoma.

    He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and has always been involved in church work.

    Scroggins was a former member of the Trinity Missionary Baptist church, under the pastorate of the late Rev. A. F. Adams, while serving at Trinity he accepted his call to the gospel ministry and was licensed by Pastor Adams.

    Scroggins later united with the New Jerusalem Spiritual church, and was currently serving as senior pastor of Faith Worship and Love Ministries and was the organizer of the FWCC Choir.

    He was a member of the Pilgrim Outlets and traveled across the country singing for the Lord.

    Rev. Scroggins was a veteran of the United States Army.

    He was united in marriage to Evione Hooker in April 2002. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, mentor and friend to many and will always be remembered for his willingness to serve and help humanity.

    He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Evione Scroggins, of the home; seven sons, C. E. "Sonny" Scroggins Jr., Logan Scroggins, (Cynthia), and Kevin Scroggins, Sr., (Faith), of Topeka, Kas.; Dwight Scroggins, Independence, Mo.; Andre T. Ashby, Minneapolis, Minn.; Stephen A. Midgyett Sr., (Kassandra); and William L. Maxwell, Kansas City, MO; seven daughters, Lenora A. Scroggins and Sally J. Moore, Topeka, Kas.; Eilean D. Jones,of Raytown, Mo.; Lena Scroggins-Monroe (Alonzo); Sophia L. B. Scroggins, Michelle Midgyett and Kassandra "Cassy" Midgyett, of Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Ada Morris, (Leonard); Claremore, Okla.; Wanda Reed, (Joseph); Chicago, Ill.; 45 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, father-in-law, L. C. Hooker Sr.; four brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law a host of nephews, nieces, cousins other relatives and many friends.

    Funeral services for Scroggins were held on Wednesday, May 26, at the Pentecostal Church of God In Christ. Bishop Alfred L. Williams officiated.

    Burial, Leavenworth National cemetery. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors.
