    Ben Scroggins Funeral Friday

    Benjamin Scroggins of Deaconness Memorial Home died at 6:20 a.m., Wednesday
    in Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital. Friends may call at Holland and Barry
    Funeral Home Thursday evening.
    Services will be at 10 a.m., Friday from the funeral home with L. H. Appel
    officiating. Burial will be in Carlyle Cemetery.
    The deceased was born July 14, 1872, in Logan County, the son of Thomas
    and Jane Dean Scroggins. He married Oral Mileham in Lincoln in 1897 and
    she survives as do three daughters and a son, Mrs. Ardeanne Lunner of Springfield,
    Mass., Mrs. Leila Goodpasture of Hartford, Conn., and Mrs. Reva Molt of
    Lincoln and Wilbur Scroggins of Lincoln; a sister, Mrs. William Wyland
    of Williamsville; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded
    in death by a daughter, a son, and a brother.
    Mr. Scroggins was a member of the Christian church.

    Died Tuesday, March 1, 1960

    RALPH SCROGGIN DIED IN LINCOLN

    Ralph Leo Scroggin of 709 S. Kickapoo St., Lincoln, Ill., died at 9:45
    a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 1960 in the St. Clara’s Hospital, Lincoln, at the
    age of 55 years.

    Mr. Scroggin was born near Lake Fork, Ill., June 3, 1904 a son of Benjamin
    F. and Oral Irene Mileham Scroggin. In Lincoln during 1921 he married Lula
    Amberg. He was a member of the First Christian Church, the Moose Lodge,
    and Carpenter’s and Bartenders’s Unions, Lincoln.

    Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by a son, Duane, of St. Louis,
    Mo., a daughter, Mrs. Mary Gwendolyn Bertsche of Decatur; one brother,
    Wilbur Scroggin of Lincoln, three sisters, Mrs. Reva Molt, Lincoln; Mrs.
    Lela Goodpasture, Hartford, Conn. and Mrs. Ardena Lunner, of Springfield,
    Mass.; three grandchildren.

    The body was removed to the Fricke Memorial Home in Lincoln, where funeral
    services are to be conducted Friday, March 4, at 1:30 p.m., Rev. L. H.
    Appel officiating. Burial will be made in the Carlyle Cemetery, west of
    Mt. Pulaski.

    LINCOLN, IL - Bertha M. Scroggin, 95, passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. at the Rosewood Care Center in St. Charles, Ill.

    Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at the Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln with Mr. Ron Otto officiating.

    Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

    Burial will be in New Union Cemetery in Lincoln.

    Bertha Madelyn Scroggin was born June 26, 1918, in Eminence Township (Gold Springs), the daughter of John and Mabel Veff Vannoy. She married Wilbur Scroggin in 1948. He preceded her in death in 1965.

    She is survived by her children: Marvin Scroggin of Seattle, Wash., and Melvin Scroggin and Lori Green both of St. Charles, Ill.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her siblings: Fern, Marie, Lawrence, Thelma and Charles Vannoy; one son, Van McCray; and two daughters, Shirley McCray and Betty McCray.

    She was a member of the Atlanta Christian Centre.

    Memorials may be made to the Logan County Food Bank.
