    Henry McGlawn “Glawn” Scroggins

    LEXINGTON — Henry McGlawn “Glawn” Scroggins, a native of Lexington, SC, died peacefully September 2, 2007, at the age of 38 with his sister and brother-in-law, Janet and David Mickle, and nephews and nieces, Wesley and Martie Williams (Brianne), and Blayne Pritchard (Gavin and Kaia) at his side at their home in Suwanee, Ga., after a brief illness.

    His wonderful sense of humor, generous spirit and deep caring for everyone will be sorely missed by his devoted family and friends. Glawn, as everyone knew him, was born June 21, 1969, in Lexington, SC, to George and Eugenia Elizabeth “Peanut” Hogeland Scroggins. He attended Lexington High School and before the onset of his illness worked for Charland Painting.

    He was predeceased by his mother, Eugenia “Peanut” Scroggins. Glawn is survived by his father, George Scroggins and brother, Jeff Scroggins of Lexington, SC, brother, Darrell and Shirley Scroggins of Scottsboro, AL, and sister, Janet and David Mickle of Suwanee, Georgia. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends all of whom adored him and will miss him greatly.

    Glawn’s family would like to extend a gracious Thank You to Suwanee Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Lexington Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, his special friends, Michael Christie and Joe Scibetta and all of the other friends and family members who called and came by to see and talk to Glawn during his illness. It made a world of difference to him.

    A memorial service will be held Monday, September 10, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. at Caughman-Harmon Funeral Home, Lexington, SC. All who would like to attend are more than welcome.

    WEST COLUMBIA - George Scroggins passed away April 1, 2008. He was born December 2, 1926, in Chattanooga, TN. He worked for many years in the sheet metal and manufacturing industry, and was a World War II veteran of the Navy. During his military service his duties included deep sea recovery of nuclear test materials.

    Through the course of his life he showed concern for the physical well-being of his family, friends, co-workers, and others in the community - this, in spite of battling the effects of cancer for many, many years.

    George Scroggins was husband for fifty-one years to Eugenia Elizabeth Hogeland Scroggins, who predeceased him May 17, 1999. He was also predeceased by his youngest son, Henry McGlawn Scroggins, in 2007. George was a loving father to his children. Surviving George Scroggins: one daughter, Janet Dyan Mickle of Suwanee, Georgia; two sons, George Darrell Scroggins of Scottsboro, Alabama, and Jeffrey Lee Scroggins of Lexington, South Carolina; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

    The family of George Scroggins would like to express a special thanks to his friends Adeana and Grant Forren for the care they helped provide for George, as well as to Heartland Hospice for the special attention during his last days.

    A private memorial service will be held. Woodridge Funeral Home is honored to assist the Hynes family.

    LEXINGTON - Memorial services for Eugenia Elizabeth "Peanut" Scroggins, 70, will be held at Noon today, May 19, 1999 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service in the chapel.

    Mrs. Scroggins died Monday morning, May 17, 1999 at a local hospital. Born in Decatur, Ala., she was a daughter of the late Henry McGlawn Hogeland and Myrtle Smith Hogeland. She attended Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall, Lexington.

    Surviving are her husband, George Scroggins; daughter, Janet Mickle; sons, Darrell, Jeff, and Glawn Scroggins; brothers, Billy and Glen Hogeland; sister, Pauline Butler; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
