    Helen G. Scroggins, 98, of Harrison, died Monday, Oct. 20 (2008) at Harrison.

    Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at Christeson Funeral Home with the Rev. Kerry Liggett officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Richard B. Chitsey, MD and Amanda Chitsey.


    The daughter of John Ernst and Lula Estella Garton Fast was born Jan. 22, 1910, at Fort Wayne, Ind. She was a Methodist. She was a homemaker and loved to quilt. She loved her family and her grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Fletcher Scroggins; two daughters, Stella Scroggins and Mary Dickey; a grandson, James Gregory Scroggins; two daughters-in-law, Elaine Scroggins and Georgetta Scroggins; and a son-in-law, Coy Hammons.

    She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Lillian Scroggins of Veronia, Ore., John and Lenora Scroggins of Dennard and Jerry and Martha Scroggins of Lead Hill; a son, James Scroggins of Harrison; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Fred Hale of West Plains, Mo.; a daughter, Anna Hammons of Catalpa; a sister, Mary Graft of Fort Wayne, Ind.; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
