    GEIGER Mr. Neil Geiger, a Native of Clay County, and loyal University of Florida Gator, died, Friday, June 12, 2009 at Penney Farms Retirement Center, Penney Farms, Florida. He was born October 31, 1926 in Green Cove Springs, FL to clay county pioneer family ,G. W. (Judge) and the former Eula Strode Geiger. Neil Graduated from the Sarasota High School class of 1944, and enlisted in the United States Navy. World War II ended, and Neil went to the University of Florida, and graduated in 1950. He began his career with the Sargent & Company for the next 20 years. Neil started his own Builders Hardware distributorship, and named it Ironmonger, Inc. His extremely successful company served the southern portion of Florida for more that 20 years. Neil married the former Elsbeth Johnson from Green Cove Springs in 1952. Their children are Lynn (Jeff) Scroggin, of Roswell, GA, and Philip Neil, Jr., (Liz) of Charlottesville, VA. The five grandchildren are: John, Julie, and Justin Scroggin, and Martin and Helen Geiger. Mr. Geiger was a longtime member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and the UF Grand Guard, Kiwanis International, and the Orange Park United Methodist Church. Neil and Elsbeth have a beautiful home and many wonderful friends in both Waynesville, N.C, and Penney Farms, FL. Graveside Funeral Services with full military honors will be held at the family burial estate in Hickory Gorve Cemetery, in Green Cove Springs, FL on Friday, June 19, 2009 10:30 AM. Additionally a Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 Friday at the Hagen Care Center, Penney Farms, FL. The family prefers in lieu of flowers, a donation to Hagen Care Center at PRC, or Hospice of NE Florida will be appreciate. Truly Neil will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
