Lance Corporal 12271 7th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment, who died of wounds aged 23 in France & Flanders on 29 March 1916. He is buried in Calais Southern Cemetery. L/Cpl Scogings (recorded as SCOGGINGS in the CWGC Register) was born in Melton and enlisted in Ipswich. He was the son of Henry and Alice Scoggings of The Street, Melton.
