    SCOGINGS, George John     

    Lance Corporal 12271 7th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment, who died of wounds aged 23 in France & Flanders on 29 March 1916. He is buried in Calais Southern Cemetery. L/Cpl Scogings (recorded as SCOGGINGS in the CWGC Register) was born in Melton and enlisted in Ipswich. He was the son of Henry and Alice Scoggings of The Street, Melton. His details are also recorded on the WWI panel inside the church.
