The engagement of Shannon Marie Gilbert of Sterling and Jacob Wayne Scroggins of Carrollton is being announced.
The future bride is the daughter of Gayle and Jeff Gilbert of Sterling. She graduated from Newman High School and St. Ambrose University. She is a registered nurse employed at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.
The future groom is the son of Carla and Dennis Scroggins of Carrollton. He graduated from Carrollton High School and Blackburn College. He is a trooper with the Illinois State Police.
They are planning a Sept. 21, 2012, wedding in Davenport, Iowa.
