   Athens Couple Arrested in Lauderdale After Forgery Spree

   An Athens couple has been arrested in Killen on five counts of Forgery and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. Anthony Albert Scroggins [53005, fb], 41, and Lynn Louise Spaulding Scroggins [53006, fb], 32, were taken into custody in Lauderdale County on June 13th.
       The pair from Athens are well known in some law enforcement circles, having been suspects two years ago in Giles County, Tennessee, in an electric meter theft spree. In March 2014, Lynn Spaulding (Scroggins) was arrested with stolen meters and burglary tools in her car after being abandoned by her then-boyfriend Anthony Scroggins.
       Lynn Scroggins, who now lives with her husband on Tiger Way in Athens, also has arrests in 2010 in Madison County, an arrest on 12 charges of credit card fraud in Limestone in November 2014, and more theft arrests in Giles County (Pulaski) in December 2014.
   In August 2012, Spaulding was listed as a missing person, along with her two children, from the Mobile area. She again turned up in Limestone County in 2014 where she married Anthony Scroggins in April of that year.
       Anthony Scroggins previously lived in Killen and reportedly has relatives in that area. He was arrested in 2010 on three counts of prescription fraud at a Walgreen’s Drug Store and was more recently charged with domestic violence and public intoxication in March of this year, all in Limestone County. In between, he’s been charged with numerous thefts in northern Alabama and southern Tennessee.
       Anthony Scroggins currently remains in the Lauderdale County Detention Center as of Wednesday night. Lynn Scroggins was bonded out by a family member.
