About 1769, removed to Maine and settled on Sheepscot River, afterwards, at Whitefield, Maine where he died.

According to the book by Avis Stearns, Madison was born in 1822.
Will continue to
investigate this one.
Madison lived in New York until he was 20
years old, receiving a common school education. He came west to Illinois
at age 20, in 1842, where he was engaged in the coopering business for
seven years, and then went into the
carpentry trade, which he followed for several years. During
this time in Illinois, he also owned a farm which he worked part time himself.
His wife was quite anxious to go to California so, in 1856 Madison sold
out in Fulton County, Illinois and started with his family to California.
He got as far as Council Bluffs, Iowa, where they were delayed because
of a massacre by the Indians of a wagon train which had left Council Bluffs
the week before. Madison spent the $50 in gold he had saved for the
trip to California on land at Council Bluffs and built a cotton-wood house
on the land. The family lived there until 1864 at which time they
moved to Fremont County, Shenandoah, Iowa where they lived during the Civil
War period, and where three of their children (Carrie Amelia, Parley Eugene,
and Henry Madison) were born and died in infancy. There Madison was
engaged in the hotel business and dealt in cattle and farming all at the
same time. The next two years, we find him engaged in the mercantile
business which he operated two year and then sold out, took possession
of the store again, and finally disposed of it and moved to Harrison County
(in 1882).
While Madison was at Shenandoah he must
have been rather prosperous because his daughter, Mary Gertrude, had the
only organ in that part of the country. In Harrison County, Iowa,
Madison purchased a 160 acre farm, and built a story and a half house and
a wing. The first year there he broke out about 20 acres, built a
fence, set out an orchard, and made general improvements. Madison
and his family lived in Harrison County until the 1890's at which time
he had accumulated enough to deed to each of his children a block land
farm. In 1899 Madison was living with his son Edwin, at Kingfisher,
Oklahoma (where Edwin had staked a claim) when Madison became ill and died.
Madison did not acquire any property in Oklahoma, as death intervened;
His widow, Mary was left dependent upon her son, Edwin for support.
Anjean was the daughter of Mr. Chase and Mrs. (Silsby) Chase
