He received a grant of 80 acres of land which he sold when he moved to Texas and settled in what is now Honey Grove. He m. Mar. 17, 1801 in Mecklenburg County, NC., Catherine Moore, daughter of Abraham Moore, born 1784 in PA and died Feb. 1860 in Fannin County, TX.

PRESLEY SELF
Born Apr. 4, 1763.  Presley was in Bledsoe County, TN about 1812.  He was in Blount County, AL in 1830, and also may have been in Pendleton County, SC.  He served  in the Revolutionary War as a teenager.  He was living in SC when he received compensation for his service in 1785.  He and Isaac Self were listed as insolvents in Rutherford County, NC in 1785.   He is known to have been in Montgomery County, NC.  Died Oct. 15, 1855 and buried in Cleburne County, AL.  He m. about 1780 in TN., Amy/Annie Gunter, b. 1760 and d. about 1851, daughter of Chief  John Gunter, a Cherokee trader. [This is possibly untrue] From Richard Self: "He was in Bledsoe Co., TN from about 1805 (he sold his land in the Pendleton District, SC that year & was on the 1800 Census there) to about 1817, when he moved to Alabama. I believe that the Census records of his children say that he was born in SC, but I have no documentation. No white men were in Bledsoe Co., TN at the time of his birth."
