No.8 The Last Will and Testament of Joseph Madden late of Chillisquaque Township ?

In the name of God Amen I Joseph Madden of Chillisquaque Township Northumberland County and State of Pennsylvania being of perfect mind and memory do make this my last will and testament in the following manner viz

First I allow my executors to bury me decently to be paid out of my personal property

next I leave and bequeath to my son William Madden twelve acres of Land on the Farm on which I live to be surveyed to him on that part of the farm adjoining Widow Hunter and the Sugar Camp(?)

next I leave and bequeath to my son James Madden the whole of the said farm on which I now live William Maddens twelve acres only excepted I also allow my son William Madden to pay twelve pounds Pennsylvania Currency to my son Joseph Madden when the said Joseph Madden arrives at the age of twenty one years I also give and bequeath to my son Joseph Madden a Mare which I now own as my property a Bay Mare

I also leave and bequeath to my daughter Mary Madden my bed and bedding on which I lie and all the household furniture I may die possessed of also one Cow and two Sheep Ewes to have her choice of the flock I also leave one Ewe to my Grand Son Joseph Madden I also allow my Son James to give to my daughter Mary Madden twenty five Pounds ( Pennsylvania Currency to be paid her three years after my decease I allow James Madden my Bay horse to pay court charges the rest of my personal property I allow to be divided equally among my legatees after paying my just debts

I also appoint my Son James Madden and John Mury sole executors Given under my hand and seal this (third day of July in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and ten(?)) Joseph Madden

Columbia County SS Be it remembered that on the eighteenth day of June AD 1831 before me John Cooper Register for the probate of wills and granting letters of Administration in and for said County came James Montgomery one of the subscribing witnesses to the within will who having been duly sworn doth depose and say that he was present and did see and hear Joseph Madden deceased the within names testator seal sign declare and publish the within Instrument of writing as and for his last will and testament and that at the time of so doing the said Joseph Madden the testator was of sound disposing mind memory and understanding to the best of this deponents knowledge and belief and at the same time Samuel Montgomery this deponents father and the other subscribing witness to said will since deceased was also present and saw and heard the testator seal sign and publish the said Instrument as and for and this deponent saw the said Samuel Montgomery subscribe his name thereto as a witness and this deponent further swears that names James Montgomery and Samuel Montgomery are of this deponents and his fathers proper hand writing and that they subscribe their names as witnesses to the said will in presence of the testator and in presence of each other James Montgomery sworn and subscribed before me John Cooper Register Recorded this March June 18th 1831 James Hepleman asst Reg.

Columbia County SS Before me John Cooper Register for the probate of Wills and granting Letters of Administration in and for said County was proved and approved the last will and testament of Joseph Madden late of Chilesquaque Township deceased and Letters Testamentary in due and common form of Law were issued to John Murray and James Madden Executors in the Said will named the Said Executors having been duly qualified to administer the same Estate according to Law and to comply in all things with the provisions and requisitions of the Act of general Assembly of this Commonwealth Entitied the "Collateral" inheritance (?) John Cooper
