Wilhelmine "Minna" Haendel Vetterlein

Wilhelmine "Minna" Haendel Vetterlein was the mother of 12 children and a pioneer of Yreka. Her daughter Amelia (Emilie) married Maurice Renner (quite a guy in his own right) but died at age 35, so Minna, after bringing up her own children, brought up Amelia's too. She lived with Maurice until she died at the ripe old age of 85. She is alone in her own plot because her husband Charles Vetterlein died back east while Minna and ten of her children (all born in Germany) went west. In a family photo she has large, capable hands and looks more like an Indian than a German.

Minna Vetterlein is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.
