ARRIVAL OF THE PLEIONE, FROM PLYMOUTH.

The ship Pleione (Messrs. Shaw, Savill, and Co.'s), 1097 tons, Captain Renaut, came to anchor off the Queen's Wharf about half-past one
o'clock yesterday afternoon. She brings to this colony 196 steerage passengers - nominated immigrants - of whom 136 are single women. Of
the total number of passengers, 90 are for Wellington, 11 for Nelson, 11 for Auckland, 23 for Marlborough, 27 for New Plymouth, 20 for
Hawke's Bay, and 13 for Canterbury. The Pleione left Plymouth at 10 am. on 2nd August, and the next day cleared the Channel. On 6th
September, in lat. 25deg N., she caught the N.E. trade; they were light, and only lasted four days. On 25th September, crossed the Equator, in
long 21deg W. Letters were sent home on this date by the M. E Cox, an English ship. On 11th October, passed Tristan D'Acunha, and on the
23rd of the same month passed the meridian, Cape of Good Hope, in lat 41deg 30min south. Her easting was run down on the parallel of 47
degs. On 24th August spoke the ship Oamaru, and on the 25th the Flintshire; off the Cape, one Norwegian and two Dutch barques, bound for
Adelaide; on the 26th November passed a schooner, running to the N.W., and a barque (painted white with black bulwarks) going as ourselves.
The only land seen was the Martin Vas Rocks, on the 3rd October. Unusually fine weather was experienced throughout the voyage. The ship
reached here in splendid condition — the passengers' quarters having evidently been kept scrupulously clean and neat. Dr. Husband is the ship's
surgeon. He came out in the Jessie Headman in 1873, and in the Arethusa last year, and will return, it is stated, in the s.s. Durham, now lying
at Lyttelton.
