Pg 131 - ‘Asphodel’ was named from the abundant lilies along the edge of Rice Lake.’

Pg 182 ‘As the Gov’t scaw touched the Ennismore shore after it’s trip across the lake with the first group of settlers, Patrick Gallivan (Galvin) jumped to the bank and exclaimed ‘Behold, gentlemen, I am the first settler in Ennismore.’

Pg 372 In Asphodel there were only 265 people in 1832, number assessed 55, acres cultivated 767, assessed value L 3410 and total rotes L16. 

In 1832 Ennismore population was only about 160, the number assessed 32, acres cultivated 118, assessed value $7088. Patrick Gallivan was the first postmaster.

Dennis Hurley:

That the Town Clerk be directed to write to Dennis Hurley informing him that complaints had been made to the Township Council stating that he kept a disorderly house [Tavern House?] and that if persisted in, legal proceedings would be instituted against him.

Dec 6, 1851 - That we change the road - thru Mrs. Hurley's land and direct the road survey or to lay out a road on the old route north of the chapel.

May 10, 1852 - Report of Inspector of taverns in Mrs. Hurley's case received and allowed.  That the Inspector of Tavern licenses be requested to gave Mrs. Hurley a certificate for this year.

That the road north of Mrs. Hurley's be on the side line between fifteen and sixteen on the 7th Conc. of Asphodel. 

April 1853 That Widow Hurley's lecture be cont'd at the same as last year.
