(Mary O'Shea)

On Monday, September 24th, the death occurred at her home,
27 Simcoe Street, Peterborough, of Mrs. Mary Hurley, widow
of the late Denis Hurley. The deceased was born near
Norwood, Ont., where she lived the greater part of her life,
having moved to Peterborough some twelve years ago. She had
eleven children, ten of whom are living and were present to
witness the ebbing away of the life of a loved mother. She
is also survived by two brothers, Wm. And J.A. Shea of
Hastings, and Mrs. Hanova Moher, of Douro.

The remains were removed to her former home, and the funeral
took place to St. Paul's Church, Norwood, where solemn
Requiem Mass was sung by Rev. A.J. Hurley of El Centro,
California, a nephew of the deceased assisted by Rev. P.J.
Galvin, of Downeyville, as deacon, and Rev. V. McFadden, of
Trout Creek, as sub-deacon and Rev. J.V. McAuley, of
Ennismore, as master of ceremonies. Rev. P. Costello,
rector of St. Peter's Cathedral, Peterborough, was present
in the sanctuary and paid a worthy tribute to the deceased,
describing the life of a truly Christian mother as
exemplified throughout the life of the late Mrs. Hurley.

Miss Lillian Hurley, organist of St. Peter's Cathedral,
Peterborough and Mrs. E.J. McCarthy, nieces of the deceased
were present in the choir. The many spiritual bouquets and
floral offering bespoke the esteem and respect in which the
deceased was held.

Interment took place at St. Paul's cemetery. The service at
the grave was conducted by Rev. P.J. Galvin, Rev. J.J.
McCarthy of Norwood and Rev. A.J. Hurley. R.I.P.
