Silversmith
Events in his life were:
- He worked from 1813 to 1820 as a silversmith in Louisville KY as E. Ayers & Co. The other principles were apparently Enos Woodruff, who had moved to Cincinnati in 1813, and Jacob Deterly, also of Cincinnati. What actual involvement they had in the company is not known; they may have only provided initial monetary support or the Lousiville shop served as an outlet for their own goods. When the partnership was dissolved on 16 March 1820, Ayers purchased the other's remaining interest for $2500. 5
- He was a partner from circa 1820 to 1831 with Evans C. Beard in Louisville KY as AYERS & BEARD. The firm was dissolved 20 September 1831 and Beard joined the firm's former watchmaker, George A. Zeumar as E. C. BEARD & Co, specializing in watchmaking and repair. 5
Elias married Mary Ann Silliman on 27 Jul 1819 in Louisville KY. (Mary Ann Silliman was born about 1793 and died on 4 Jun 1878 in New Albany IN.)
