He was a partner from circa 1821 to 1852 with Nathaniel Saltonstall and Asa Spencer in Eatonton GA as D. B. HEMPSTEAD & Co. His place taken by son Daniel in 1852, joined by grand-nephew Daniel in 1882. 4
