1Paintsville Herald, Obit-Webb,Proctor, 18 May 2001. "PROCTOR WEBB 1882 1956 Proctor Webb, 73, retired farmer of Van Lear, died Tuesday morning, January 17 1956, in a local hospital. He had been ill for the past five months. One of the best known and respected citizens of Johnson County, he possessed a jovial disposition and a deep loyalty for his friends and loved ones. He was a magistrate of the county from 1928 to 1932, and had served in recent years as a member of the Board of Supervisiors from Magisterial District 2. He was an active member of the Church of Christ for many years. Born on February 11 1882, he was a son of the late William J. and Jane Honeycutt Webb; and was a member of a large family of this community. In his early manhood, he was married to Miss. Clarinda Hall, daughter of the late David B. and Arminta Hall. Surviving besides his wife, are four sons, John C. Webb, Waverly, Ohio; William Charles Webb, Peebles, Ohio; James Proctor Webb, Van Lear; David Lee Webb, Cincinnati, Ohio; four daughters, Mrs. Alka Mae Gibson, Mrs. Minnie Moffitt, and Mrs. Lucille Helton, all of Cincinnati, Ohio; and Mrs. Ruth Jasper of Van Lear. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, three great grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters; Prof. William Webb, Greenup, Ky.; Melvin Webb, Paintsville; Mrs Zora Phelps, California; Mrs. Addie Elliott, Elk City, Okla.; Mrs. Rosella Davis, Van Lear; and Mrs. Laura Phelps, Elk City, Okla. One daughter, Mrs Gussie Snapp, died on July 29 1955. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 19, at the Church of Christ at West Van Lear by the Reverend Julian Hunt of Lexington, Ky., and Reverend Joe Zavadsky of Piantsville. Burial was made in the Club House Cemetery at Van Lear under the direction of the Jones and Preston Funeral Home. Among those attending the funeral and living out of town were; Mrs. Helen Venters and Elizabeth Mosgreve of Pikeville, Ky.; Laura Sargent of Allen, Ky.; Mr. and Mrs. G.B. Hughes, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Travis and son of Glasgow, Ky.; Supt. C.V. Snapp and Drexell Webb of Jenkins; Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Honaker and daughter of Charleston, W.
