William Anderson "Anse" Sesco Sr.
1Ginger-Lyn Summer, Bio and Hist-Sesco,Ance, notes, 24 Oct 2000. "NOTES FOR William Anderson (Anse) Sesco: FROM Ginger-Lyn Summer's rtf family file rec'd Feb 21,2000. (1)Name from Ruth Ramey Hinshaw Boyhan,Creta Spence Sesco,Grace Bowen Sesco Family Bible.--GLS (2)Middle name also seen as Anson in Peck Book.--GLS (3)Note: Uncle Charles Interview: "Ance Sesco, Charles' grandfather, was born in Pennsylvania and moved to Kentucky when at 4 years old. He wasn't named for a long time--his parents used numbers instead of names. He was eventually named after "Devil Anse" Hatfield, of the famous Hatfield-McCoy feud -- he was raised 26 miles from that feud."--GLS (4)Have in my notes alternate birthplace listed as Martin Co.,Ky; no idea on source.--GLS (5)My note: "Lucretia listed as 'Creasy Mollett Sescoe' and Ance as 'Anse Sescoe' in marriage book."--GLS (6)Note: Interestly enough, the Joseph Peck & Related Families book changes the Sesco spelling to Cesco for all of Anse's kids, although they keep the Sesco spelling for Anse and other Sesco's. Believe Anse may have changed the spelling of the name when his children were born for some reason. I have input his childrens' last names as both: Sesco/Cesco.--GLS **** (7)The following are my original notes from interviews with Donald Eugene Sesco, Creta Spence Sesco (Donald's wife), and Gracie Bowen(s) Sesco, conducted on July 3, 1978, in Kentucky. --GLS (8)"Ance's son Millard married Gracie Bowens. She was 16 at the time. Millard and Gracie had a son, also names Ance, and a son named Donald Eugene Sesco. Don was born July 17,1939 and married Creta Spence, who was born Feb. 23,1943. Creta's parents were Willie Spence and Vadie Maynard."--GLS (9)"Ance had a brother named Wes."--GLS (10)"Ance had a son named Jim, and Jim's son was named James Granville Sesco, known as 'Jimbo'. Jim lives in Weeksbury, W.Va., and Jimbo lives in McGraw, W.Va. Jim has a daughter, Irene Mollet, who lives near Paintsville."--GLS (11)"Gracie Bowens Sesco's mother and George Spences's mother were first cousins."--GLS (12)"Millard Sesco has a daughter from a first marriage, now named Corey Lee Masters (now know this should be Lemasters) of Flat Gap,Ky."--GLS (13)"A Melvin Sesco is a 1st cousin to Millard and Jim."--GLS (14)"Gracie's father was named Noah Bowens, and she also had a son named Noah, who was born Jan. 8,1938 and died May 18, 1962."--GLS (15)"Creta says Irene Mollet says there is Spanish blood in the Sescos -- possibly Millard's grandfather (Ance's father) was half-SPanish. Gracie says 'they had an awful temper' like the spanish."--GLS.".
