SOURCE: Notes of Joseph N. Adams, 1984 (116 Regent Cir, Oak Ridge, TN
37830) The 1900 census states she was born Feb 1894. She said that a snow
came when she was born so I ask her if maybe she was born in Feb instead of
May. Also Alice was born 12 Dec 1895 making the births rather close and she
told me that she got her birth date from Aunt Alice Bible but this Bible is
probably long gone. She used 10 May 1894 making her 95 years 1 month and 6 days of age when she died. She was born on Copper Ridge in a home in the holler just below present home of Johnny Tipton. They li near Duffield,VA after marrying they would walk thru Natural Tunnel to go to the store. Then they bought the farm on Copper Ridge thus moving there where Maurice & J.N. were born. She went to school named Oak Grove, a one room with all grades in the same room with wooden benches to sit on, some of her classmates being Lucian Kelly Hammond,Truman Nickels France, this school building has been torn down for better than fifty years. The school was located off of Copper Ridge East of the present home of Orville Spivey yr 1983.
