            Sarah Addington, 88, Nickelsville, Va. 

            NICKELSVILLE, Va. - Sarah Blanche Addington, 88, of Route 1, 
            departed this life Saturday (Oct. 27, 2001) at Wexford House in 
            Kingsport. 
            She was a native of Scott County, Va., and a member of Meades Chapel 
            Church. 
            She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard John Addington; 
            daughter, Violet Ruth Addington; several brothers and sisters. 
               
            Surviving are her daughters, Norma Jean Kilgore and Thelma 
            Broadwater, both of Nickelsville; grandchildren, Diane Williams, 
            Gate City, Va., Jean Quillen, Nickelsville, and Eddie Broadwater, 
            Kingsport; four great-grandchildren; three 
            great-great-grandchildren. 
            Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Scott County 
            Funeral Home, Weber City, Va., and anytime at the residence of the 
            daughter, Thelma Broadwater. 
            Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home 
            chapel with the Rev. Henry Wayne Meade and the Rev. Steve Collins 
            officiating. 
            Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Addington Family Cemetery 
            in Nickelsville. 
            The family will meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. to go to the 
            cemetery. 
            Pallbearers will be Dick Odle, Pete Odle, Gary Addington, Danny 
            Dixon, Billy Wayne Gilmer, Thomas Hillman and Harry Broadwater.

            Robert Bass Jr., Rogersville. 

            ROGERSVILLE - Services for Robert Bass Jr., who was born June 30, 
            1920 in Osaka, Va., and died Friday (Oct. 26, 2001) will be 
            conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of 
            Rogersville with the Rev. Robert E. Riley officiating. 
            Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Colboch-Price Funeral 
            Home, Rogersville. 
            Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery.

            Jack B. Begley, 81, Kingsport. 

            KINGSPORT - Jack B. Begley, 81, went to be with Jesus Saturday (Oct. 
            27, 2001) in the VA Medical Center in Johnson City after a period of 
            declining health. 
            Jack was born June 21, 1920 in Scott County, Va., a son of the late 
            Grover and Frances Laney Begley. 
            He was a member of Parker's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. 
            He proudly served his country in Europe during World War II. He was 
            retired from Pen-Dixie after 33 years of service. 
            In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his 14 
            brothers and sisters, Horton, Lonnie, Charlie, Tucker, Audley, 
            Cornie Begley, Claudia Carver, Bessie Tomlinson, Lizzie Fields, 
            Nellie Barker, Myrtle Baldwin, Lillie Peak, Mary Vaughn and Ruby 
            Begley. 
               
            Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mary Riner Begley, of the 
            home; daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Phil Lane, Kingsport; three 
            sons and daughters-in-law, Mack and Phyllis Begley, Bill and Mabel 
            Begley, all of Kingsport, and Jack Jr. and Lynda Begley, 
            Blountville; four granddaughters, Melissa Goins, Kingsport, Buffy 
            Fleenor, Church Hill, Kristel Begley, Bluff City, Shelley Begley, 
            Kingsport; two grandsons, Joe Begley and Bobby Begley, both of 
            Kingsport; one great-granddaughter, Cassie Fleenor; one 
            great-grandson, Matthew Fleenor Jr.; one stepgranddaughter, Cynthia 
            Estep, Kingsport; one stepgrandson, Brian Estep, Knoxville; two 
            sisters, Helen Shupe, Kingsport, and Hazel Hillman, Ft. Blackmore, 
            Va.; two brothers, Jessie Begley and Hubert Begley, both of Gray; a 
            special family friend, Ronnie Hammonds. 
            Calling hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Parker's Chapel 
            Freewill Baptist Church. 
            Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church with the 
            Rev. Gary Calhoun and the Rev. Robert (Jr.) Parker officiating. 
            Jack will be taken to the church one hour before the service. 
            Interment will follow in the Carter's Family Cemetery in Ft. 
            Blackmore, Va., with full military honors conducted by the VFW 
            Charles DeWitt Byrd Post No. 3382 of Kingsport. 
            Pallbearers will be Anthony Dickens, Eddie Kilgore, Lance Edwards, 
            Junior Kilgore, Trevor Cole, Jim Mann, Mike Steffy and Barry Pearcy.

            Frances Bostick, 50, Hixson, Tenn. 

            HIXSON, Tenn. - Services for Frances Hale Bostick, 50, formerly of 
            Rogersville, who departed this life Wednesday (Oct. 24, 2001) will 
            be conducted at 1 p.m. today in the chapel of Broome Funeral Home, 
            Rogersville, with the Rev. Alfred Hale and the Rev. Lester 
            Cartwright officiating. 
            Burial will be in the Mitchell Crest Cemetery.

            Jim Byrd, 51, Gate City, Va. 

            GATE CITY, Va. - James Henry (Jim) Byrd Sr., 51, Ravine Street, 
            departed this life Thursday (Oct. 25, 2001) at Wellmont Hospice 
            House in Bristol. 
            A native of Scott County, Va., he was a member of Gate City Fire 
            Department with 34 years of service. He was an ambulance driver. 
            He was a member of Midway Baptist Church. 
            He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Archie Byrd and 
            Lovely Mae McDavid Byrd; and several aunts and uncles. 
               
            Surviving are his wife, Phyllis L. Byrd, Gate City, Va.; a son, 
            James H. Byrd Jr., Gate City, Va.; three sisters and 
            brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Teddy Douglas Pendleton, Judy Ann and 
            Billy Addington, and Cathy Diane and Charles Robert Fields, all of 
            Gate City, Va.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, William Nelson 
            and Veda Byrd, Merritt Island, Fla., Donald Eugene and Carolyn 
            Quillen Byrd, Blountville, and Richard Allen and Diane Byrd, 
            Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews. 
            Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Midway Baptist 
            Church. 
            Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday at the church with the 
            Rev. George Willis and the Rev. Paul Allison officiating.

            Butchertown Road, who died Friday (Oct. 26, 2001) will be conducted

            G. Fred Eller, 89, Kingsport. 
               
            Services for G. Fred Eller, 89, Kingsport, who departed his earthly 
            home for his eternal home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus 
            Christ and his beloved wife Friday (Oct. 26, 2001) will be conducted 
            at 2 p.m. Monday at the Cedar View Independent Methodist Church with 
            Dr. Jim Fields and the Rev. T.J. Knox officiating. The body will be 
            taken to the church one hour prior to the service.

            Geneva Lewis Elkins, 63, Jonesville, Va. 

            JONESVILLE, Va. - Geneva Lewis Elkins, 63, died Friday (Oct. 26, 
            2001) at her home. 
            She was born on January 21, 1938 in Lee County, Va., and was a 1956 
            graduate of Pennington High School. 
            She graduated from Lee County Nursing School in Ben Hur, Va., and 
            retired from Brian Center Nursing Home in Weber City, Va., after 
            years of employment as an LPN. 
            She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pennington 
            Gap, Va. 
            She was preceded in death by her mother, Edith Lewis. 
            Survivors include her husband, Charles "Abe" Elkins, of the home; 
            one son, Charles Elkins and wife Starlene, Gordonsville, Va.; two 
            daughters, Debra Young and husband Scott, Scott AFB, Ill., and Alane 
            Parton and husband Aaron, Laurenburg, N.C.; father, Moran Lewis, 
            Pennington Gap, Va.; three grandsons and three granddaughters; 
            brothers, Robert Lewis and wife Lucielle, Johnson City, Larry Lewis 
            and wife Linda, Jonesville; and a host of relatives and friends, and 
            a special friend, Ruby Sybert. 
            Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Province Funeral Home of 
            Jonesville. 
            Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the sanctuary of the 
            funeral home. 
            Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Lee Memorial 
            Gardens in Woodway, Va.

            Helen M. Feathers, 81, Blountville. 

            BLOUNTVILLE - Helen Marie Shipley Feathers, 81, Indian Springs, went 
            peacefully to be with the Lord Friday (Oct. 26, 2001) in the 
            Greystone Health Care Center after a long illness. 
            Helen was born July 20, 1920 in Johnson City, a daughter of the late 
            Henry and Stella Mahoney Shipley and was the widow of Garland 
            Feathers. She was a member of the Sunnyside Baptist Church, where 
            she was a former member of the choir. 
            In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 
            her son, Bobby Feathers. 
               
            Helen is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Betty 
            Feathers, of the home; grandsons, Douglas Feathers and Tony 
            Feathers; granddaughter, Mrs. Scott (Donna) Mendenhall; a 
            great-grandson, Michael Feathers; sister-in-law, Mrs. Jim (Coleen) 
            Pierce, Abingdon, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. 
            Calling hours are from 4 to 6 p.m. today at East Lawn Funeral Home. 
            Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in the funeral home 
            chapel with the Rev. Richard Ratliff officiating. 
            Interment and graveside services will follow in the East Lawn

            Services for Fred N. Frazier, 81, Kingsport, who died 8 p.m. 
            Wednesday (October 24, 2001) will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in

            Bart Walker officiating. 
            Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery with military graveside 
            rites conducted by the Charles DeWitt Byrd Post No. 3382 of the VFW.

            Etta C. Godsey, 86, Kingsport. 

            KINGSPORT - Etta Conkin Godsey, 86, of Kingsport, died Saturday 
            (Oct. 27, 2001) at her residence. 
            Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Hamlett-Dobson 
            Funeral Homes. 

            Fred Grills, Kingsport. 

            KINGSPORT - Fred Grills died Thursday (Oct. 25, 2001) at 7:30 p.m. 
            at his residence after a courageous battle with lung cancer. 
            Born in Kingsport, he was a son of Noah and Ella Hood Grills. He was 
            a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater. He 
            received two Purple Hearts, Oak Leaf Cluster and Bronze Star. 
            Fred retired from the City of Kingsport as building official after 
            38 years of service. He continued to work as building inspector with 
            Eastman Credit Union for the last 17 years. 
            Fred was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church. He 
            was a life member and former post commander of VFW Post No. 3382, 
            Moose Lodge No. 972, Disabled Veterans, Masonic Lodge No. 688, 
            Eastern Star No. 198 and Eagles Lodge. 
            Fred served on the board of directors of the Southern Building Code 
            covering 17 southern states. He served as president elect and 
            president two years for the Southern Building Code Group. By this 
            position he was invited by President Gerald Ford to represent the 17 
            Southern states to attend the Inflation Conference in Washington, 
            D.C. He served on the board of directors of the Salvation Army, and 
            held several offices and was post commander of the First District of 
            the VFW, as well as many offices and committees in the State VFW. 
            He was preceded in death by his parents, Noah and Ella Hood Grills; 
            brothers, J.D. Grills and Rex Grills. 
               
            Surviving are his loving wife Wanda of 55 years; daughter Rebecca 
            and son-in-law, John Grills; granddaughter (little angel) Ashley; 
            brothers, Robert and Russell Grills; several nieces and nephews and 
            many friends. 
            To know him was to love him. He will be sadly missed by all who knew 
            him. 
            Viewing will be in the church sanctuary of First Broad Street United 
            Methodist Church at 2:30 p.m. today with services being conducted at 
            3 p.m. with the Rev. Jack Edwards and Caryl Griffin officiating. 
            Special music will be by granddaughter Ashley Grills, and nephews, 
            Scott Brown and Tim Grills. 
            Committal services will follow with full military rites by VFW Post 
            No. 3382 Honor Guard at the Oak Hill Mausoleum. 
            Pallbearers will be Hugh Grills, Tony Grills, Buddy Archer, Wayne 
            Lambert, Bob Clear and Tom Gouge.

            Robert Harris Jr., 64, Rose Hill, Va. 

            ROSE HILL, Va. - Robert Snyder (Bob) Harris Jr., 64, of Houston, 
            Texas, died Thursday (Oct. 25, 2001) in Hammond, La., while en route 
            to visit his father and other relatives in Rose Hill. 
            Bob graduated from Thomas Walker High School, Ewing, Va., at the age 
            of 14 and was a graduate of Emory and Henry College, Emory, Va. He 
            retired from the National Aeronautic and Space Administration 
            (NASA). He later came out of retirement and worked as an aerospace 
            engineer with other companies that were affiliated with NASA. 
            He was a member of Morgan Memorial United Methodist Church in Rose 
            Hill. 
            He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Hampton Harris; his 
            mother, Pauline Edens Harris; a brother, Richard B. Harris; and a 
            brother-in-law, Joe Carter. 
            Surviving are two sons, Keith Harris, Austin, Texas, Mark Harris and 
            Desiree Campbell and their daughter Lisette, Houston, Texas; father, 
            Snyder Harris, Rose Hill; brother, Paul D. Harris and wife Kay, 
            Jonesville, Va.; sister, Judy Carter, Martinsville, Va.; brothers 
            and sisters-in-law, Bill and Carol Schul, Hamilton, Ohio, and 
            Richard and Sarah Hampton, Elgin, Ill.; several nieces and nephews. 
            Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Morgan Memorial 
            United Methodist Church in Rose Hill. 
            Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday in the church with the 
            Rev. Harry Layell officiating.

            Brett Harrison, 42, Gray. 

            GRAY - Brett Eugene Harrison, 42, 362 Old Gray Station Rd., died 
            Thursday (Oct. 25, 2001). 
            He was a native of Monticello, Ind., but had lived in this area most 
            of his life. 
            He was the son of Sarah Margaret Jackson Harrison Hensley of Gray 
            and the late Guy Lester Harrison. 
            He was of the Baptist faith. 
            In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Hope H. 
            Dunsford, Gray; son, Bryan Good, Gray; sisters, Sarah Gwendoyln H. 
            Bonsor, Donna Marie H. Roberts and Debra Sue H. Carty, all of Gray; 
            brothers, Mark Landon Harrison, Gray, and Barry Stephen Hensley, 
            Piney Flats; grandchildren, Justin Dunsford, Michael Dunsford and 
            Cheyenne Good; several nieces, nephew and great-nieces and nephews. 
            The family will receive friends anytime at 362 Old Gray Station Rd., 
            Gray. 
            A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Mountain Home 
            National Cemetery with the Rev. Dan Thieben officiating.

            Helen G. Hill, 84, Appalachia, Va. 

            APPALACHIA, Va. - Helen G. Hill, 84, entered into eternity Saturday 
            (Oct. 27, 2001). 
            Miss Hill was the daughter of Albert Ray and Dora Moore Hill. 
            A graduate of Appalachia High School, she earned her bachelor's 
            degree from Mary Washington College, Fredericksburg, Va., her 
            master's degree from Columbia University, New York City, N.Y., and 
            did post graduate work at the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colo. 
            Of her 47 years of teaching in Wise County schools, she spent most 
            of her career at Appalachia High School, which she held dear, and 
            for which she created and was the sole benefactor of the Appalachia 
            High School Scholarship. 
            Miss Hill was a member of the former Appalachia Presbyterian Church 
            and a current member of the Big Stone Gap Presbyterian Church, a 
            member and Past Matron of the Appalachia Chapter No. 26 Order of the 
            Eastern Star, and a member of the Wise County District O, and 
            Virginia Retired Teachers' Association. 
            Survivors include a number of cousins; her physician and friend, Dr. 
            Gary S. Williams; special friends and caregivers, Georgia Taylor, 
            Dorothy Patrick, Barbara Sturgill, Linda Cooper, Dolly Fleming, 
            Louella Sizemore and Frank Gentry; her loving neighbors and friends. 

            Calling hours will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at Roy A. Green 
            Funeral Home, Appalachia. 
            Services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home 
            chapel with the Rev. Terry Craig Blevins and the Rev. George Aichel 
            officiating. 
            Entombment services will be held at the American Legion Cemetery 
            Mausoleum at 3 p.m. on Monday. 
            Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 2:15 p.m. on 
            Monday to go in procession to the cemetery.

            Don Messimer, 61, Johnson City. 

            JOHNSON CITY - Don Messimer, 61, 4011 Sanford Drive, died Friday 
            (Oct. 26, 2001) in the Johnson City Medical Center following a 
            lengthy illness. 
            He was a native of West Frankfort, Ill., but had lived most of his 
            life in Johnson City. He was a son of Lorraine Frank Messimer, 
            Johnson City, and the late Erby Messimer. 
            Mr. Messimer had served in the Army Reserve. 
            He was the owner of Don's Barber Shop, Walnut Street, Johnson City, 
            for over 40 years. 
            Mr. Messimer was a member and deacon of Unicoi Christian Church in 
            Unicoi. 
            Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Pansy Miller 
            Messimer; a son, Danny Messimer and his wife Lisa, Acworth, Ga.; a

            Joyce Minor, 84, Blountville. 

            BLOUNTVILLE - Joyce B. Minor, 84, of 108 Hawley Road, went to be 
            with the Lord on Saturday (Oct. 27, 2001). 
            Mrs. Minor was born September 23, 1917 in Castlewood, Va., a 
            daughter of the late Oscar and Lizzie Couch Bickley, and the widow 
            of App Minor. 
            Joyce was a member of Blountville Presbyterian Church. 
            In addition to her husband and parents, her brothers, Joe, Guy, Pude 
            and Jack Bickley preceded her in death. 
            Survivors include her son, Daniel Bickley Minor, Blountville; her 
            grandchildren, Daniel Bickley Minor Jr., Telluride, Colo., David 
            Tyler Minor, San Diego, Calif., and Dustin Fredrick Minor, Deluth, 
            Ga.; a great-grandson, Zachary Minor, Deluth, Ga.; two sisters, 
            Carolyn Farrier, New Port, Va., and Nell Lonon, St. Paul, Va.; a 
            niece, Mary Clark, Bristol, Tenn. 
            Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the East Lawn

            Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the Blountville

            Mildred Pace, 78, Rose Hill, Va. 

            ROSE HILL, Va. - Mildred Lorraine Pace, 78, went home to be with the 
            Lord on Thursday (Oct. 25, 2001) at Bluefield Regional Medical 
            Center. 
            Having been a resident of Westwood Health Care Center, Bluefield, 
            Va., for the last several months, she had been a patient at BRMC 
            since September 29. 
            Born on November 13, 1922 in Inonton, Ohio, she was the daughter of 
            the late Lee and Ada York Moore and was raised in Raceland, Ky. 
            While holding a revival in Rose Hill as a singing evangelist, she 
            met and later married Paul C. Pace. They made their home in Dearborn 
            and Ypsilanti, Mich., for over 50 years. Mildred had been employed 
            at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., Ford Motor Co., and had worked 
            for several years as secretary to the Director of Nursing at Beyer 
            Memorial Hospital in Ypsilanti. Paul and Mildred retired to Rose 
            Hill in 1989. 
            Besides being a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, she actively 
            worked in her church in Ypsilanti and then at Silverleaf Baptist 
            Church in Rose Hill, where she was currently a member and Sunday 
            School teacher until she moved to Bluefield. She continued to 
            minister in music at her own church and also during revivals at 
            Ball's Chapel. She touched the lives of many through her singing and 
            testimony. 
            In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 
            husband, Paul C. Pace; one sister, Margaret Moore; and two brothers, 
            Vernon and Harold Moore, Raceland, Ky. 
               
            Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Neumann and husband Bob, 
            Ypsilanti, Mich.; son, Clarence L. (Sam) Pace and wife Libby, Falls 
            Mills, Va.; six grandchildren, Greg Pace, Charlottesville, Va., 
            Kevin Pace, Falls Mills., Va., Bob Neumann, Ann Arbor, Mich., 
            Jeffrey, Mark and Jennifer Neumann, all of Ypsilanti, Mich.; five 
            great-grandchildren; one sister, Imogene Rice, Florence, Ariz. 
            Calling hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Arney-Mullins 
            Funeral Home, Rose Hill. 
            Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home 
            with Pastor James Whitaker officiating.

            WEBER CITY, Va. - Graveside services for Carl Edward Peters, 77, 
            Church Street, who departed this life Thursday (Oct. 25, 2001) will

            Legion Hammond Post No. 3. Family and friends will meet at the 
            funeral home at 1:15 p.m. to go to the cemetery.

            Ruth Evans Rogan, 85, Rogersville. 

            ROGERSVILLE - Ruth Evans Rogan, 85, died Saturday (Oct. 27, 2001) at 
            Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. 
            Mrs. Rogan was owner and manager of Rogan Hereford Farm for many 
            years. 
            Born in Granite, Okla., she was the daughter of James Isaac and Ida 
            Francis Evans. Mrs. Rogan moved to East Tennessee in the 1930's. 
            After having attended business college in Knoxville, she was 
            employed at Pressman's Home. In 1937, she married Lance Rogan and 
            spent the remainder of her life in Rogersville. 
            She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Rogersville. 
            She was preceded in death by Lance Wilson Rogan; and infant son, 
            Edward Wilson Rogan; two sisters, Billie Henry and Jessie Evans; six 
            brothers, Alton, E.J., Raymond, James, John and Robert Evans. 
               
            Surviving are three daughters, Ailsie Straley, Kingsport, Ada Rogan, 
            Rogersville, and Ruth Borden, Louisville, Tenn.; three sons, James 
            Rogan, Church Hill, Michael Rogan, Rogersville, and Fred Rogan, 
            Lebanon, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one 
            sister, Louise Banks, of Oklahoma; three brothers, Glen, Clarence 
            and Neal Evans. 
            Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Colboch-Price 
            Funeral Home, Rogersville. 
            Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Henry Catholic 
            Church in Rogersville with Father Michael Jennings officiating. 

            Nettie Lee Warner, 95, Lebanon, Va. 

            LEBANON, Va. - Nettie Lee Warner, 95, of the Fork Ridge community, 
            died Friday (Oct. 26, 2001) at her home. 
            A lifelong resident of Russell County, she was a daughter of the 
            late Ross and Lillie Hawkins Fogleman. 
            She attended the Morning Star Union Church, and was the widow of 
            Clyde Warner. 
            She was also preceded in death by two sons, John Haskel Warner and 
            an infant son; six sisters; and three brothers. 
            Surviving are one daughter, Oleane Warner, of the home; one son, 
            Carson D. (C.D.) Warner and his wife Nancy, Kearneysville, W.Va.; 
            one daughter-in-law, Willie Warner, Melbourne, Fla.; one sister, 
            Laura Leonard, Bristol, Va.; one brother, Gilmer Mack (Jim) 
            Fogleman, Bristol, Va.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 
            two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of 
            friends. 
            Calling hours are after 6 p.m. today at Combs Funeral Service, 
            Lebanon, Va., and at the home at anytime. 
            Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home 
            chapel with the Rev. Eugene Miller, the Rev. Clifton Duncan, the

            ELIZABETHTON - J.E. (Jim) White Sr., 64, 161 Taylor Avenue, died 
            Saturday (Oct. 27, 2001) in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. 
            A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Montie and 
            Pauline Dempsey White. 
            He was employed as a printer with Quebecor World Printing, 
            Kingsport. Mr. White served in the U.S. Army. 
            He was a Free Will Baptist. 
            He was preceded in death by a son, James E. White Jr. 
            Survivors include his wife, Joyce Hicks White; two daughters, Rhonda 
            Cable, Hampton, and Robyn Carrier, Elizabethton; one son, Monty C. 
            White, Elizabethton; one foster daughter, Angela T. Miller, 
            Elizabethton; one sister, Irene Rominger, Greeneville; two brothers, 
            George White Sr., Elizabethton, and Bill White, Salsbury, N.C.; six 
            grandchildren; two aunts, Eula White, Elizabethton, and Ruth Brown, 
            Bluff City; one niece and three nephews; also his special friends, 
            Martha Light, David Black, James Farmer, Louis Jones, Joe Black, 
            Rayford Dingus and Geraldine Grindstaff.

            Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home 
            chapel with the Rev. Mark Street and the Rev. Scotty Miller

            in Happy Valley Memorial Park.
