            who went to be with Jesus Sunday (Nov. 4, 2001), will be at 11 a.m.

            Donnie Trent, Jimmy Tipton, Randy Smith, Albert Atkin, Mark Cooter 
            and Joe Cooter serving as pallbearers.

            KINGSPORT - Services for Vera Reece Bacon, 72, 1022 Globe Avenue, 
            who died Saturday (Nov. 3, 2001), will be conducted at 1 p.m. today 
            in the chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport, 
            with the Rev. Miles Baines officiating. 

            Bertha Brewer, 93, Rogersville.

            ROGERSVILLE - Bertha Viola Brewer, 93, went to be with the Lord at 
            10 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 3, 2001) at Heritage Manor Nursing Home 
            following a long illness. 
            She was a member of Guntown Church of Christ. 
            She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Morrison, and 
            her second husband, Sam Brewer; a daughter, Evelyn; her parents, Dan 
            and Teenie Catron; brothers, Marion Catron, Eldridge Catron and 
            Andrew Jack Catron; and sister, Mabel Combs. 
            Survivors include her sister, Francis Stubblefield, Rogersville; 
            daughters, Ruth Monday, Mrs. Buck (Mae) Harrison, Mrs. John 
            (Barbara) Mead, all of Texas, Mrs. Marietta Allen and Mrs. Pauline 
            Sweet, both of Rogersville; 10 grandchildren; 18 
            great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several 
            nieces and nephews. 
            Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Colboch-Price 
            Chapel, Rogersville, or anytime at the home of her daughter, 106 
            Petersburg Road, Greenbriar Village Apt. 17. 
            Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home 
            chapel with Marshall Stubblefield officiating. 
            Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Highland 
            Cemetery.

            Graveside services for Katherine B. Churchwell, 1005 Ambleside 
            Drive, Kingsport, who passed away Saturday morning (Nov. 3, 2001),

            CHURCH HILL - Graveside services for Charles Jasper Fleenor, 87, 
            1968 Goshen Valley Road, who passed away Saturday (Nov. 3, 2001), 
            will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Church Hill Memory Gardens. 
            Pallbearers will be Dean Arnold, Richard Laningam, Blanton 
            Christian, Fred Cassell, John Snapp Jr., Kaylee Cradic, John Horton 
            and John Scism.

            Jakella Horton, 23, Nashville.

            NASHVILLE - Jakella Nicole Horton, 23, formerly of Kingsport, died 
            Friday (Nov. 2, 2001) as a result of injuries sustained in an 
            automobile accident in Rutherford County. 
            She was a native of Kingsport and a 1996 honor graduate of 
            Dobyns-Bennett High School. Jakella was an active member of Shiloh 
            Baptist Church before leaving Kingsport. 
            She graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with 
            honors, receiving a bachelor of science degree in Interior Design. 
            She was a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society's Chapter 
            at UTC. 
            Jakella was employed by Sprintz Furniture Showroom in Franklin, 
            Tenn., as an interior designer. 
            She was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Frank and 
            Barbara Horton; and an uncle, Stewart Allen Horton. 
               
            Surviving are her parents, David and Julia Horton, Kingsport; one 
            sister, Janean Horton, Nashville; grandparents, the Rev. and Mrs. 
            George Byrd, Knoxville; and a special loving friend, Roman 
            Carpenter, Nashville; godmother, Vanessa Springs, Alpharetta, Ga.; 
            goddaughter, Bianca Horton, Knoxville; a special cousin, Omar 
            Delaney, of Germany; great-aunt, Virginia Patrick, Kingsport; and 
            several loving and devoted uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, 
            co-workers and friends. 
            Calling hours are from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Shiloh Baptist Church. 
            Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today at the church with the 
            Rev. Kenneth Calvert officiating. 
            The committal service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. 
            Wednesday at Oak Hill Cemetery.

            at 10:30 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church to go in procession to the 
            cemetery.

            William L. Howard, 66, Bulls Gap.

            BULLS GAP - William L. Howard, 66, went to be with the Lord Sunday 
            evening (Nov. 4, 2001) at Ridgeview Terrace Nursing Home following 
            an extended illness. 
            He was a member of Liberty Church of God, and was a retired truck 
            driver. 
            He was preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo and Orpha Howard; 
            two infant children; and one brother, Eugene Howard. 
            Survivors include his wife, Virginia Ann Howard of the home; sons, 
            Kenneth Howard of Kentucky, David Howard of Ohio, Earl Howard of 
            Kentucky, Joseph Howard of Ohio, William Howard Jr. of Bulls Gap, 
            Keith Howard, Kevin Howard and Billy Howard, all of Tennessee; 
            daughters, Margaret Collett, Carol Rife, Sherry Wise and Elizabeth 
            Napier, all of Kentucky, Teresa Drazek and Tina Day, both of Ohio, 
            Tracy Barnard and Amy Howard, both of Tennessee; 41 grandchildren; 
            three great-grandchildren; five brothers, Paul Howard, Alonzo Howard 
            Jr., Robert Howard, Benny Howard and Edward Howard, all of Kentucky; 
            five sisters, Juanita Lewis, Viola Adams, Doris Griffith, Froney 
            Begley, all of Kentucky, and Virginia, of Indiana; several nieces 
            and nephews. 
            Mr. Howard will be taken to Liberty Church of God, on Gap Creek 
            Road, this morning where the family will receive friends until the 
            service at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. Rev. Mark Renner will officiate. 
            Interment will follow in the Gulley Cemetery. 
            Colboch-Price Funeral Home in Rogersville is in charge of the 
            arrangements. 

            Jody Johnson, 27, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Jody Wynona Johnson, 27, 122 E. Sevier St., found her 
            peace Wednesday (Oct. 31, 2001). 
            Born in Lakeland, Fla., Jody moved to Kingsport with her family in 
            1980 and attended Dobyns-Bennett High School and Barton's School of 
            Cosmetology. 
               
            Jody is survived by her parents, Randy and Kim Wyatt; her natural 
            father, Wesley Johnson, Florida; her brothers, Frank Hayes, Gate 
            City, Va., Ben, Michael, Kasey Wyatt and Jonah Wyatt Onkotz, of the 
            home. She is also survived by her sisters, Wendy Pemble, Joliet, 
            Ill., and Kirsten Elizabeth Wyatt, of the home; her maternal 
            grandparents, Bob and Wynona Francisco, Lakeland, Fla., and paternal 
            grandmother, Francis Knight, Polk City, Fla; numerous aunts, uncles 
            and cousins in Tennessee and Florida also survive the "Perfect 
            Rose." Also surviving are a child she considered her own, Reece 
            Herron. 
            Arrangements were made by Jody prior to her death that no memorial 
            service be held. Her friends are invited to celebrate her life at 
            her parent's home at a later date. 
            In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made 
            in Jody's name to the Disaster Relief Fund, Date of Loss: September 
            11, 2001, New York, N.Y. or the Children of Afghanistan, c/o The 
            President of the United States, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., Washington,

            Bertha Johnston, 87, Weber City, Va.

            WEBER CITY, Va. - Bertha Virginia Larkey Johnston, 87, died Sunday 
            afternoon (Nov. 4, 2001) following a lengthy illness. 
            She was born in Maces Springs, Va., on Oct. 20, 1914 to David E. and 
            Maggie Belle Hilton Larkey. 
            She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dock S. Johnston in 
            1978. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her 
            parents; and brothers and sisters, Laura L. Moody, John J. Larkey, 
            Clarence Larkey, Mattie L. Salyers, Bernice L. Leonard Jennings, 
            Edith L. Barker and Kenneth A. Larkey. 
            She last resided in Weber City, Va., and had lived most of her life 
            in Lee, Wise and Scott Counties. She was a faithful member of 
            Holston View United Methodist Church, Weber City, Va. She worked as 
            a sales clerk for years in Kingsport and Weber City. 
               
            Surviving are her children and their spouses, Mary Lou and William 
            M. McSpadden, Kingsport, Keith and Gloria Johnston, Kingsport, Judy 
            and Mark D. Musick, Atlanta, Ga., and Terri and John F. Culbertson, 
            Kingsport; 10 grandchildren, Elizabeth M. Hunt, William M. McSpadden 
            III, Sarah M. Senter, Laura M. Froning, Leslie J. McCrackin, John 
            David Johnston, Anne Marie J. Pierce, Justin F. Musick, Jessica S. 
            Musick and Joshua S.A. Culbertson; nine great-grandchildren; and 
            several nieces and nephews. 
            Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Holston View United 
            Methodist Church, Weber City, Va., followed by a celebration of life 
            at 7 p.m. conducted by her pastor, the Rev. Rick Howard. 
            Friends and relatives are invited to attend. 
            Interment will be at Holston View Cemetery at 11 a.m. Wednesday. 
            Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. 
            Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

            SHIRLEY, Ind. - Services for Eva Cantwell Livesay, 96, who died 
            Friday evening (Nov. 2, 2001), will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in

            Lee Moore, 81, Indianapolis, Ind.

            INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Everett Lee Moore, 81, died Saturday (Nov. 3, 
            2001) in Indianapolis. 
            After 20 years of service, he retired in 1982 from the Ford Motor 
            Co. as a machine operator. He was a member of the UAW Local 1111. 
            He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy E. Mendenhall Moore. 
            Surviving are his daughter, Paula Moore Denton, Indianapolis, Ind.; 
            a son, Jimmie L. Moore, Indianapolis, Ind.; four grandchildren and 
            three great-grandchildren; sister, Ona Harris, Kingsport; brother, 
            Frank Moore, Indianapolis, Ind.; nieces, Linda Arrington, Church 
            Hill, Brenda Franklin, Fall Branch; and several great-nieces and 
            nephews. 
            Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 
            Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport.

            Patricia Ann Morris, Big Stone Gap, Va.

            BIG STONE GAP, Va. - Patricia Ann Morris passed away Monday (Nov. 4, 
            2001).

            Edna B. Poe, 87, Rogersville.

            ROGERSVILLE - Edna B. Poe, 87, went to be with the Lord at 12:55 
            p.m. Sunday (Nov. 4, 2001) at Ridgeview Terrace Nursing Home in

            She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rogersville. 
            She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Poe.

            grandchildren, Jeff Kirkpatrick of Tullohoma, Lynn Davidson of

            six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, 
            Roy Burrow of Elizabethton; one sister, Leona Hodge of Spruce Pine, 
            N.C.

            Minnie E. Proffitt,74, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Minnie Easter Proffitt, 74, went to be with the Lord 
            Sunday (Nov. 4, 2001) in the Holston Valley Medical Center. 
            Born Nov. 12, 1926 in Sullivan County, Minnie was a daughter of the 
            late James (Jim) Samuel and Mary Elizabeth Lane Martin. She was the 
            widow of Clint Grady Proffitt. 
            Minnie was custodian at Thomas Jefferson School and a member of 
            Pilgrim's Rest Baptist Church. 
            In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 
            a brother, Charlie Martin. 
               
            Minnie is survived by her loving family, Mrs. Dwight (Leona) Browder 
            and Cathy Marsh, both of Kingsport, Mrs. Henry (Darlene Taylor) 
            Powers Jr. of Melbourne, Fla., and Mrs. Keith (Patricia) Manis of 
            Surgoinsville; eight grandchildren, Tim Taylor, his wife Loree, 
            Terry Browder, his wife Robin, Tina Taylor, Brian Marsh, his wife 
            Amanda, Wesley Marsh, David Manis, Daniel Manis, Tevin Manis; five 
            great-grandchildren, Tiffany Browder, Whitney Browder, Faith 
            Browder, Alyssa and Jordan Taylor; two sisters, Mrs. Vance (Ruth) 
            Pope and Della Hoover, both of Kingsport; two brothers and 
            sister-in-law, Vernon Martin and his wife Nell of Kingsport, and 
            Paul Martin of Gate City, Va.; several nieces and nephews.

            Home. 
            Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home 
            chapel with the Rev. Lawrence Wolfe and J.W. Depew officiating.

            East Lawn Memorial Park.

            Flora Robinette, 92, Duffield, Va.

            DUFFIELD, Va. - Flora Jane Fannon Robinette, 92, widow of Cecil 
            Glenn Robinette, passed away Sunday (Nov. 4, 2001) at the Duffield 
            Residence Center, Duffield, Va. 
            Flora, the daughter of William Charles Fannon and Ara C. Fraley 
            Fannon, was born in Lee County, Va., on June 21, 1909. She attended 
            Radford College and began teaching in a one-room classroom in Lee 
            County in 1928. She later taught in Scott County for several years. 
            She lived in Duffield with her family before moving to Big Stone Gap 
            after World War II. After Mr. Robinette retired, they moved to 
            Staunton, Va., from 1975 until Mr. Robinette's death in 1994. 
            She was a lifelong member of the Baptist church and, while living in 
            Staunton, was a very active member of the Fishersville Baptist 
            Church, Fishersville, Va. 
            Surviving are her son, Charles Glenn Robinette and his wife, Sally 
            Sutherland Robinette, and grandchildren, C. George and Clare Lewis 
            Robinette, all of Knoxville. Also she is survived by one daughter, 
            Mary Jane Robinette Selph of Richmond, Va.; a grandson, John Glenn 
            Selph, Richmond, Va.; and a granddaughter, Ellen Catherine Selph of 
            Gurnee, Ill. One of 13 children, Flora is survived by a sister, Mary 
            Billings of Oklahoma; two brothers, Fred Fannon of Charlotte Court 
            House, and Morris F. Fannon of Pennington Gap, Va. She is survived 
            by 13 nieces and 11 nephews. 
            Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Holding Funeral 
            Home, Big Stone Gap, Va. 
            Flora will be transported to the Henry Funeral Home, West Beverly 
            St., Staunton, Va., and the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. 
            to 1 p.m. Friday. 
            Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Henry Funeral 
            Home Chapel with the Rev. John L. Sullivan, former pastor of the 
            Fishersville Baptist Church, officiating. 
            Interment will be in the Thornrose Cemetery, Staunton, Va. 
            For her entire life, Flora was concerned about people's needs, 
            whether they were hungry or cold.

            Va.

            Everette E. Shelton, 75, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Everette Eugene Shelton, 75, went home to be with the 
            Lord on Sunday (Nov. 4, 2001) at his home. 
            Everette was born in Virginia on Aug. 16, 1926, a son of the late 
            Mary Frances Light. 
            He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Kingsport Iron 
            and Metal Company after 45 years of service. 
            He was of the Baptist faith. 
            In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his first 
            wife Betty Shelton. 
               
            Surviving are his wife of 15 years, Alice Marie Dingus Shelton of 
            the home; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Delmar (Kathleen) Qualls; a stepson 
            and wife, Phillip Dingus and wife Rita; stepgrandchildren, Shannon 
            Dingus and Mrs. Monty (Devonne) Thacker; a stepgreat-grandchild, 
            Cody Lee Dingus; three half sisters, Mrs. Everett (Velma) Light, Ms. 
            Betty Melear and Mrs. Roy (Margaret) Ramey, all of Kingsport; four 
            half brothers, Jack Baines, M.H. Baines, Leeland Baines and Carl T. 
            Light, all of Kingsport; a host of friends and relatives, several 
            nieces and nephews. 
            Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the East Lawn 
            Funeral Home. 
            Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home 
            chapel with the Rev. Lyle Housewright and the Rev. Lonus Salling 
            officiating.

            L.R. Trent, 67, and Stella M. Trent, 63, Sneedville. 

            SNEEDVILLE - L.R. Trent Jr., 67, passed away Friday (Nov. 2, 2001) 
            as a result of an automobile accident. 
            He was born April 27 1934, the son of the late L.R. Sr. and Mae 
            Trent. 
            He professed faith in Christ at an early age and attended Trent 
            Valley Baptist Church. 
            In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, 
            Sue Peters. 
            Survivors include his wife, Stella Trent (deceased Nov. 4, 2001); 
            brothers, Ben Trent, of New Market, Tenn., and Kenneth Trent 
            (deceased Nov. 2, 2001); sisters, Juanita Rodgers, Persia, Tenn., 
            Viva Johns, Treadway, Tenn., and Phyllis Price, Gray; very special 
            and devoted young men, Johnny Seal, Gerald Seal and wife Tonya, 
            Sneedville; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives 
            and friends. 
            Pallbearers will be nephews. 
            Stella M. Trent, 63, passed away Sunday (Nov. 4, 2001) at the 
            University of Tennessee Hospital as a result of an automobile 
            accident. 
            She was born Oct. 19, 1938, the daughter of the late Will and Bertha 
            Munsey. 
            She professed faith in Christ at an early age and lived by the 
            Baptist faith. She attended Trent Valley Baptist Church. 
            In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 
            husband, L.R. Trent Jr.; brother-in-law, Ray Southern; niece and 
            nephew, Lucy Crouch and Eddie Southern. 
            Surviving are her sisters, Eula Southern, Strawberry Plains, Tenn., 
            Beulah Edds, Tazewell, Tenn., and Dorothy England, Jefferson City; 
            very special and devoted young men, Johnny Seal, Gerald Seal and 
            wife Tonya, Sneedville; several nieces and nephews and a host of 
            relatives and friends. 
            Pallbearers will be Dale Seal, Gary Marion, Rodney Greene, Tyler 
            Lamb, Shannon Greene and Larry Wolfe. 
            L.R. and Stella had owned and operated Trent Grocery for over 40 
            years. 
            Calling hours are from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Trent Valley Baptist 
            Church. 
            Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. 
            Ministers will be the Rev. Kester Bunch, the Rev. Danny Lamb, the

            Cemetery, Sneedville.

            GRAY - Wilman Hazel Walker, 97, died Sunday (Nov. 4, 2001) at Asbury 
            Health Care Center, Johnson City. 
            A native of Washington County, she was a member of Bethany Baptist 
            Church and regularly attended Jonesborough Senior Citizens. 
            She was the daughter of the late Frazier and Pearl Ford Baines. 
            She was preceded in death by two brothers. 
            Surviving are a daughter, Patsy Combs of Gray; two brothers, Joe 
            Baines and Niles Baines, both of Gray; two grandchildren, Christine 
            Poore and Jeff Combs; and three great-grandchildren. 
            Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Gray Funeral Home, Gray. 

            Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home 
            chapel with the Rev. Paul Broyles and the Rev. Hallace Ford 
            officiating. 
            Graveside committal services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday 
            in the Gray Cemetery. 
            Music will be by Dot Canady.

            Frank Wallen, 75, Rogersville.
               
            Services for Frank Wallen, 75, of 109 Mountain View School Road, 
            Rogersville, who passed away Sunday (Nov. 4, 2001), will be 
            conducted at 8 p.m. today in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home, 
            Church Hill, with the Rev. Orville Dolen and the Rev. Clifford Cole 
            officiating.

            Grace Waller, 86, Blountville.

            BLOUNTVILLE - Grace Waller, 86, died Monday (Nov. 5, 2001) in 
            Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after an extended illness. 
            She was a member of Caney Creek Baptist Church in Greene County. 
            Mrs. Waller was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Waller; son, 
            Johnny Waller; parents, Milburn and Viola Adams; sisters, Flossie 
            Roberts, Edith Beck, Victory Hughes; brothers, Rome Adams, Rico 
            Adams, and Worley Adams. 
            Surviving are her daughter, Janice Mellons, Blountville; sons, Dean 
            Waller, Kingsport, Dale Waller, Blountville, Earl Waller, 
            Elizabethton; sister, Clara Barton, Baileyton; brothers, Clarence 
            Adams, Jonesborough, Bob Adams, Greeneville; several grandchildren 
            and several great-grandchildren. 
            Arrangements will be announced by the Fall Branch Chapel 
            Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home. 

            Ethel Hurd Willis, Rogersville.
               
            Graveside services for Ethel Hurd Willis, of 5264 Highway 11W, 
            Rogersville, who went to be with the Lord on Sunday (Nov. 4, 2001), 
            will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Hawkins County Memorial 
            Gardens.

            Johnnie H. Wray, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Johnnie H. Wray died Monday morning (Nov. 5, 2001) at 
            her home after a long, rich and productive life. 
            Born in Hamblen County, she had resided in Kingsport most of her 
            life. Mrs. Wray attended Carson-Newman College and graduated from 
            East Tennessee State Teachers College. She retired in 1976 from the 
            Kingsport City School System where she taught social studies at John 
            Sevier and Ross N. Robinson Junior High Schools. 
            She was a member of First Presbyterian Church for over 50 years and 
            had been actively involved in Presbyterian Women, Clothes Closet, 
            and Meals on Wheels. 
            Her parents, John T. and Opha Hardy; a sister, Edna Winstead; and a 
            brother, Jake Hardy, preceded her in death. 
            Surviving are her husband, William T. "Tommy" Wray Sr., Kingsport; 
            one daughter, Susan D. Wray, Seattle, Wash.; one son and 
            daughter-in-law, William T. Wray Jr. and Gwen Wray, Kingsport; two 
            grandchildren, Katye Wray and Will Wray; two sisters, Blanche 
            Hamilton, Hamblen County, Lula Belle "Girlie" Hale, Whitesburg; one 
            brother, James Brown Hardy, White Pine; and several nieces and 
            nephews. 
            The graveside service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Oak 
            Hill Cemetery. 
            Calling hours are from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hamlett-Dobson 
            Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport. 
            Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home 
            chapel with the Rev. Gary L.R. Bullard officiating. 
            Honorary pallbearers will be retired teachers of the Kingsport City 
            Schools.

            Samuel Wright Jr., 76, Telford.

            TELFORD - Mr. Samuel Vestal "S.V." Wright Jr., 76, 253 Charlie 
            Dillow Road, died Sunday (Nov. 4, 2001) at his residence following a 
            lengthy illness. 
            A Washington County native of the Conklin community, Mr. Wright was 
            the son of the late Sam and Mary Humphreys Wright. 
            He was a former employee of the U.S. Soil Conservation Service and a 
            farmer. He was an honorary Kentucky Colonel. 
            Mr. Wright attended Mt. Wesley Methodist Church and was a member of 
            Enon Baptist Church. 
            Survivors include his wife, Jane G. Wright, of the home; one son and 
            daughter-in-law, Greg and Nancy Wright, Telford; two daughters and 
            sons-in-law, Martha and Mike Burleson and Bebe and Marty Street, all 
            of Telford; mother-in-law, Dorothy Garland, Limestone; grandsons, 
            Benjamin Garrett and Samuel Wright; granddaughter, Roxie Street; 
            stepgrandsons, Alex Street and Brandon Burleson; stepgranddaughter, 
            Jennifer Burleson; two sisters and brother-in-law, Peggy Phillips, 
            Joann and Emil Messimer, all of Jonesborough; one brother and 
            sister-in-law, Dick and Barbara Wright, Telford; and sisters-in-law, 
            Ann Banks, Kingsport, and Carolyn McCracken, Gray; and several 
            nieces and nephews.

            Nell Yates, 77, Coeburn, Va.

            COEBURN, Va. - Nell Slemp Yates, 77, died Sunday (Nov. 4, 2001) at 
            Norton Community Hospital in Norton, Va. 
            She was a lifelong resident of the Coeburn area and a member of the 
            Crab Orchard Freewill Baptist Church. 
            She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Leafie Ann 
            Adkins Slemp. 
            Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Donnie Frank, 
            Coeburn, Va.; sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Linda Yates and 
            Danny and Debbie Yates, all of Coeburn, Va.; sister, Mrs. Nova 
            Lawson, Wise, Va.; five brothers, C.B. Slemp, Chattanooga, Tenn., 
            Morrell Slemp, Ray Slemp and Jimmy Ray Slemp, all of Coeburn, Va., 
            Joseph Slemp, St. Paul, Va.; grandchildren, Melissa Yates, Alicia 
            Yates, Wesley and wife, Andrese Funk, Matthew Yates, Martin Funk; 
            and great-grandson, Cody Funk; and several special nieces and 
            nephews.
