            ROGERSVILLE - Graveside services for Bertha Viola Brewer, 93, who 
            went to be with the Lord at 10 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 3, 2001), will be 
            held at 2 p.m. today at Highland Cemetery. 
            Colboch-Price Funeral Home, Rogersville, is in charge of the 
            arrangements. 

            Lutie E. Feagins, 88, Kingsport. 

            KINGSPORT - Lutie E. Feagins, 88, went to be with the Lord Wednesday 
            (Nov. 7, 2001) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a 
            lengthy illness. 
            Born in Russell County, Va., she had resided in Kingsport most of 
            her life. 
            Mrs. Feagins was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. 
            Her husband, Herman Feagins; and eight sisters and brothers preceded 
            her in death. 
            Survivors include a son and his wife, Thomas and A'Lita Feagins, 
            Kingsport; one grandson, Mark Feagins, Kingsport; one sister, Alda 
            Maddux, Johnson City; one brother, Wesley Irvis Stapleton, 
            Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews. 
            Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at St. Luke United 
            Methodist Church. 
            Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today at the church with the 
            Rev. Mike Teague officiating. 
            Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Oak Hill 
            Cemetery. 
            Memorials may be given to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 2600 
            East Center Street, Kingsport, Tenn. 37664.

            Mary Frazier, 80, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Mary Lee Harrison Frazier, 80, passed away Wednesday 
            (Nov. 7, 2001) at Indian Path Medical Center, four days short of her 
            81st birthday. 
            Born in Greene County, she resided most of her life in Kingsport. 
            She attended Apostolic Lighthouse in Kingsport. 
            Her parents, Martin and Rebecca Harrison; and a brother, Hobert 
            Harrison, preceded her in death. 
               
            Surviving are her daughters, Connie Malone Grogg and husband, Doyle, 
            Debra Frazier Hunt, both of Kingsport; grandchildren, Nicole "Nikki" 
            Grogg Harville and husband, Tim, Carla Grogg Wagers and husband, 
            Jeff, Marla Grogg McLeod and husband, Scott, Christy Hunt Lawson, 
            and husband, Gerald, Janessa Hunt; great-grandchildren, Megan Grogg, 
            Alexis Harville, Josh Harville, Tiffany Wagers, Banner McLeod, 
            McKenzie McLeod, Katie Stanley, Hannah Lawson, and Dylan Lawson. 
            Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson 
            Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport. 
            Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home 
            chapel with Pastor G. D. Peters officiating.

            Lawn Cemetery. 

            Helen F. Grogg, 85, Glens Falls, N.Y.

            GLENS FALLS, N.Y. - Helen F. Grogg, 85, of Cronin High Rise, died 
            Tuesday (Nov. 6, 2001) at the home of her daughter Kimberly. 
            Born on Dec. 19, 1915 in Athens, W.Va., she was the daughter of 
            George Frazier and Lelia (White) Frazier. 
            Helen was a graduate of Athens High School in West Virginia. On Dec. 
            24, 1937, she married Wanzel J. Grogg and they resided in Kingsport 
            until his retirement from Eastman Kodak in 1975. They moved to the 
            Glens Falls area where they lived until his death in February of 
            2000. 
            Helen has been one of Jehovah's Witnesses for over 60 years and she 
            continued being active in her ministry work until she passed away. 
            She died peacefully with a firm belief in the resurrection. 
            She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially 
            her grandchildren. 
            In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 
            two of her brothers, Lloyd Frazier of Athens, W.Va., and Ray Frazier 
            of Kingsport. 
            Surviving are her children, Robert A. Grogg of Kingsport, and 
            Kimberly S. Breault and her husband Clinton of South Glens Falls; 
            three grandchildren, David M. Grogg of California, Ashley L. 
            McKinney and Justin C. McKinney of South Glens Falls; two brothers, 
            Okey Frazier and Harry Frazier, both of Kingsport; and several 
            nieces, nephews and cousins. 
            A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the 
            Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Corinth Road, Queensbury, 
            N.Y. 
            Burial of her ashes will be private at Pine View Cemetery beside her 
            husband. 
            Memorial donations may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's 
            Witnesses, Corinth Road, Queensbury, N.Y. 12804. 
            A very special thank you goes out to our friends, Warren and Jennie 
            McKinney, John and Jean Montgomery and Claire and Carol Guimond for 
            all the love and support that they have shown to Helen and her 
            family.

            William A. Harris, 88, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - William A. Harris, 88, went to be with his Lord 
            Wednesday (Nov. 7, 2001) at the VA Medical Center after a period of 
            declining health. 
            William was born March 25, 1913 in Greene County and moved to 
            Kingsport in 1940. He was a son of the late William Arthur and 
            Bertha Nease Harris, and was married to the late Nancy Jeanette 
            Harris, who passed away in 1997. 
            He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 688, York and Scottish Rite 
            bodies, Jericho Temple, and life member of the VFW Post No. 3382. 
            He was a veteran, serving honorably and proudly for his country in 
            the U.S. Army during World War II with the second Infantry Division. 
            He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. 
            He did plastering for a living, and was a member of the Indian 
            Springs Baptist Church. 
            In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a 
            daughter in 1987, Linda K. Harris Lady; two sisters, Dorothy Taylor 
            Harris and Reba Harris; four brothers, Henry Judson Harris, Leroy 
            Marcus Harris, James B. Harris and Taylor DeWitte Harris. 
            William was a kind, gentle and loving father and grandfather who 
            will be missed by his family. 
               
            Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Charles R. 
            Fields, of Kingsport; a son and daughter-in-law, James (Jim) and 
            Vicki Harris, of Florida; six grandchildren, Teresa Greene, Gene 
            Lady, Wayne Lady, Michael Fields, Sherri Edens and Nancy Harris; 
            seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 
            Calling hours will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the East Lawn 
            Funeral Home, and anytime at the residence of his daughter, Judy 
            Fields. 
            A Masonic service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral 
            home chapel by the Masonic Lodge No. 688 of Kingsport. 
            Services will follow with the Rev. Aaron Rayburne officiating and 
            eulogy given by his son-in-law, Charles Fields. 
            Music will be under the direction of Mike Morgan and Vicki Harris. 
            Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the East Lawn 
            Memorial Park in the garden of Christus. 
            Pallbearers will be Richard Self, Bob Brown, Chuck Eaton, Jim Greene 
            and grandsons, Michael Fields, Gene Lady, Gene Lady Jr. and Wayne 
            Lady. 

            Susan Hayden, 49, Abingdon, Va.

            ABINGDON, Va. - Susan Payne Hayden, 49, died Tuesday, November 6, 
            2001 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abindgon, Va. 
            She was a native of Portsmouth, Va., and a graduate of Craddock High 
            School. She had resided in Abingdon for the past 18 years and was of 
            the Baptist faith, attending Shakesville Church of Christ, Bristol, 
            Va. 
            Her mother, Marjorie Butt Payne; father, George Minetree Payne; 
            maternal grandmother, Ada Trant Butt; maternal grandfather, 
            Alexander Bruce Butt, preceded her in death. 
            Survivors include her sister, Sherry Payne Quillen, Gate City, Va.; 
            uncle, Albin Trant Butt, Blacksburg, Va.; niece, Hunter B. Quillen, 
            Blacksburg, Va.; nephews, Christopher M. Quillen, Alexandria, Va., 
            and Matthew T. Quillen, Blacksburg, Va.; husband, Alan Hayden, 
            Abingdon, Va. 
            A memorial service will be held at the Renaissance House, 482 
            Bradley St. SW, Abindgon, Va., at 3 p.m. today. 
            Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Oak 
            Grove Cemetery, Portsmouth, Va.

            John Robert Jessee, 33, Lebanon, Va.

            LEBANON, Va. - John Robert Jessee, 33, died Monday (Nov. 5, 2001) in 
            Wellmont Hospice House. 
            Born in Detroit, Mich., he was the son of Nancy Boothe Jessee and 
            the late Bobby Lee Jessee. He had lived in Lebanon for the past 23 
            years. He was a former employee of Bostic Ford in Lebanon. 
            Surviving in addition to his mother are one daughter, Kendra Jade 
            Taylor, Dante, Va.; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Connie 
            Craven and husband Richard Craven, and Patsy Jessee, all of Lebanon; 
            his maternal grandmother, Ella Boothe, Lebanon; also nieces, 
            nephews, aunts and uncles. 
            Calling hours are after 6 p.m. today at Combs Funeral Service, 
            Lebanon. 
            Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of the 
            funeral home with the Rev. Paul White and the Rev. Richard Campbell 
            officiating.

            BLOUNTVILLE - Graveside services for Margaret Johnson Massey, 77, 
            who went to be with the Lord Tuesday (Nov. 6, 2001), will be at 11 
            a.m. today at the Tri-Cities Memory Gardens. 
            Pallbearers will be Fred Massey, Jim Massey, Robert Massey, Guy 
            Massey Jr., Benny Kendrick, Wayne Coffman, G.C. Coffman and Mitchell 
            Thompson.

            Beulah M. McLeroy, 86, Lebanon, Va. 

            BRISTOL, Va. - Beulah M. McLeroy, 86, formerly of Cleveland, Va., 
            went to be with the Lord on Tuesday (Nov. 6, 2001). 
            She was the daughter of the late Howard and Maggie Musick. Beulah 
            was employed by Big Lots in Bristol, Tenn., for the past 11 years. 
            She was also preceded in death by her husband, James H. McLeroy; 
            four brothers and a sister. 
            Survivors include two sisters, Pauline Vicors of Kingsport, and Dean 
            Deforst; a brother, Don Musick Kantsos and Patsy Daugherty of 
            Bristol, Tenn; a sister-in-law Ann Musick of Bristol, Va.; numerous 
            nieces, nephews and friends.

            Lee Moore, 81, Indianapolis, Ind.

            INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Everett Lee Moore, 81, died Saturday (Nov. 3, 
            2001) in Indianapolis. 
            After 20 years of service, he retired in 1982 from the Ford Motor 
            Co. as a machine operator. He was a member of the UAW Local 1111. 
            He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy E. Mendenhall Moore. 
            Surviving are a son, Jimmie L. Moore, Indianapolis, Ind., and 
            daughter-in-law, Paula Denton Moore; four grandchildren and three 
            great-grandchildren; sister, Ora Harrison, Kingsport; brother, Frank 
            Moore, Indianapolis, Ind.; nieces, Linda Arrington, Church Hill, 
            Brenda Franklin, Fall Branch, and Mildred Roberts, Hampton; nephew, 
            Charles Gentry, Kingsport; and several great-nieces and nephews.

            Patricia Ann Morris, 69, Big Stone Gap, Va.

            BIG STONE GAP, Va. - Patricia Ann Morris, 69, died Monday (Nov. 5, 
            2001) at Wellmont-Lonesome Pine Hospital. 
            She was a native of Parkersburg, W.Va., attended Parkersburg High 
            School, and was a graduate of Marshall University. 
            She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. 
            She was preceded in death by her brother, Earle Douglas. 
            Surviving are her husband, James B. "Dutchy'' Morris; her sister, 
            Mary Joan Gregory, Staunton, Va.; sons, James Morris and wife Patti 
            of Austin, Texas, and Allan "Doug'' Morris and wife Melissa of 
            Kingsport; and grandchildren, Stefanie and Ashley Anders, Kingsport, 
            and Christopher, William, Averi and Haley Morris, Austin, Texas.

            Georgie A. Paschal, 92, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Georgie Ada Musselwhite Paschal, 92, of 4825 Curtis 
            Court, formerly of 168 Old Phoenix Road NC, Eatonton, Ga., died 
            Tuesday (Nov. 6, 2001) at Cookeville Regional Medical Center 
            following a brief illness. 
            Mrs. Paschal was born Feb. 22, 1909 in Abingdon, Va., a daughter of 
            the late Howard Worley and Mildred Caroline Ferguson Musselwhite of 
            Glade Springs, Va. She was raised in Bristol, Tenn., however, most 
            of her life was spent in Eatonton, Ga., where she was a member of 
            the Order of the Eastern Star and held the position of Worthy Matron 
            from 1989 to 1991. 
            She was also a member and teacher at Philadelphia Methodist Church 
            in Eatonton. Since 1992, she attended Cassidy United Methodist 
            Church. 
            In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 
            husband, Joseph Carlton Paschal of Eatonton, Ga. 
            Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, J.C. Paschal and wife 
            Anne, of Wixom, Mich., and H. William Paschal and wife Judith, of 
            Kingsport; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. 
            Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the East Lawn 
            Funeral Home. 
            Mrs. Paschal will be taken following the visiting hours to the 
            Ivy-Hill Chapel Funeral Home in Eatonton, Ga., for her funeral and 
            burial.

            Sallie Kate Porter, 94, Weber City, Va.

            WEBER CITY, Va. - Sallie Kate (Byington) Porter, 94, entered into 
            rest Wednesday (Nov. 7, 2001) at the Brian Center Health and 
            Rehabilitation, Weber City, Va. 
            Mrs. Porter was born in Russell County, Va., on November 13, 1906 to 
            the late Moses and Melinda Salyers Byington. 
            Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, 
            Ernest Porter, 1954; an infant son, and son, Cecil Porter; five 
            sisters and four brothers. 
            She attended Grassy Creek Community Church. 
            Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Doug (Anna Ruth) 
            Baskette, Kingsport; son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Sandra 
            Porter, Weber City; daughter-in-law, Baine Porter, Roanoke, Va.; 
            three grandchildren, Terry Porter, Patricia Stewart and Scott 
            Baskette; four great-grandchildren, Joe Lane, April Stewart, Amber 
            Baskette, Brandon Baskette; several nieces and nephews. 
            Calling hours will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Gate City Funeral 
            Home, Gate City, Va. 
            Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Gene Falin 
            Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Earnest Jessee 
            officiating. 
            Burial will follow the services at Holston View Cemetery, Weber 
            City.

            Myrtle Presley, 77, Gate City, Va.

            GATE CITY, Va. - Myrtle Marie Presley, 77, entered into rest 
            Wednesday (Nov. 7, 2001) at the Wexford House after a period of 
            declining health. 
            Ms. Presley was born in Scott County, Va., on June 24, 1924 to the 
            late John Worley and Florence Dingus Presley. 
            Myrtle was born and spent her entire life in Scott County, Va. She 
            was a member of Starnes Bend Freewill Baptist Church and also 
            attended Pendleton's Freewill Baptist Church. 
            Including her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, 
            Gladys Peters, Ruth Quillen and Margie Gillenwater; and one brother, 
            Clyde Presley. 
               
            Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and George 
            Rollins, Clinchport, Va., Carol and Danny Pierson and Peggy and 
            Henry (Bud) Darnell, Jr., all of Gate City, Va.; two sisters, Lakie 
            Ross, Dungannon, Va., and Joann Begley, Ft. Blackmore, Va.; seven 
            grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

            Jearoldstown community, who died early Tuesday morning (Nov. 6,

            Carl Henry Steele, 71, Abingdon, Va.

            ABINGDON, Va. - Mr. Carl Henry Steele, 71, went to be with the Lord 
            on Tuesday (Nov. 6, 2001) at the Wellmont Holston Valley Medical 
            Center. 
            Mr. Steele was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith, and was a former 
            employee of Bristol Office Machines and Supply Co. 
            Surviving are his wife, Rachel Ann Steele; two sons, Dennis R. 
            Steele and Michael A. Steele, both of Abingdon; a daughter, Linda 
            Hixon, Bristol, Tenn.; two granddaughters, Samantha Steele and Mary 
            Steele, both of Abingdon; a nephew, Dow Lee Pierce, Meadowview, Va.; 
            and several cousins. 
            Calling hours will be from 6 to 7:45 p.m. today in the Farris 
            Funeral Service, Abingdon. 
            Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the chapel of the

            Jeff Steffey, 48, Nickelsville, Va. 

            NICKELSVILLE, Va. - Paul Jeffery Steffey, 48, of Route 2, began his 
            journey with the Lord as he entered into eternal rest at his 
            residence on Tuesday (Nov. 6, 2001) following a courageous battle 
            with cancer. 
            He was born in Scott County on April 15, 1953. He was employed by 
            Barger Leasing for many years before becoming a self-employed truck 
            driver. At the time of his illness, he was employed with Baker 
            Construction. He enjoyed part-time farming. 
            Mr. Steffey attended House of Prayer Church. 
            He was preceded in death by his father, Warren Steffey. 
               
            Surviving are his loving wife, Charlotte Clark Steffey, 
            Nickelsville, Va.; son and daughter-in-law, Travis and Jennifer 
            Steffey, Nickelsville, Va.; mother, Geneva Graham Steffey, Gate 
            City, Va.; two stepsons, Robbie Martin, Nickelsville, Va., and 
            Christopher Williams, Toomsuba, Miss.; one stepgrandchild, Takota 
            Martin, Dungannon, Va.; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, 
            Shirley and Jack Taylor, Nickelsville, Va., Peggy and Bob Tyus and

            Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home 
            chapel with the Rev. G.W. White and the Rev. Don Large officiating. 
            Music will be provided by Living Waters Trio. 
            Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Steffey 
            Family Cemetery. The family will meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. 
            to go in procession to the cemetery. 
            Pallbearers will be Roy Kinkead, Henry Ashworth, David Dotson, Aaron 
            Steffey, Justin White, Tommy Gilmer. 
            Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Taylor, Bob Tyus, Doyle White and 
            Darrel Dougherty.

            Grace Waller, 86, Blountville.
               
            Graveside services for Grace Waller, 86, of Blountville, who died 
            Monday (Nov. 5, 2001), will be at 11 a.m. today at the 
            Bacon-Kincheloe Cemetery, Jonesborough. 
            The Fall Branch Chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes is in charge 
            of the arrangements. 

            Naomi Wells, 83, Big Stone Gap, Va.

            BIG STONE GAP, Va. - Naomi Wells, 83, of the Crackers Neck 
            community, passed into eternal life Wednesday (Nov. 7, 2001) after 
            an extended illness. 
            She was born Dec. 13, 1917 in Big Stone Gap, Va., and was the 
            daughter of V.B. and Rosa Dickenson. 
            She was a charter member of Durham's Chapel FWB Church, former 
            Sunday School teacher and church secretary and treasurer. Naomi was 
            an accomplished author, having published three books including the 
            latest, "Golden Years of Poetry,'' in 1998. She was a correspondent 
            for The Post for 54 years. 
            She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Wells Sr.; and 
            beloved granddaughter, Stephanie Amanda Wells. 
               
            Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Donald 
            Winstead, Judy and Audley Begley of Big Stone Gap, Doris and Tom 
            Smith of Blountville; one son, Doyle Wells Jr. of Big Stone Gap; 10 
            grandchildren, Cecil Begley, Chris Begley, Valerie Begley, Kenneth 
            Begley, Bobby Joe Begley, Caramalita Swinney, Donnia Winstead, Brian 
            Smith, Paige Gibson and Jeremiah Wells; 13 great-grandchildren, 
            Jessica Begley, Eric Begley, Joshua Begley, Nathan Begley, Jennifer 
            Begley, Shanna Begley, Maggie Begley, Andrew Begley, John Lee, Adam 
            Swinney, Ashley Swinney, Jessica Winstead and Mattie Gibson; two 
            sisters, Rose Helen Shupe, Clinchport, and Margaret Delph, 
            Chantilly, Va.; three brothers, Grover Dickenson, James Dickenson 
            and Edward Dickenson, all of Big Stone Gap; and a special friend, 
            Bruce Dickenson, Big Stone Gap. 
            Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Holding Funeral Home in 
            Big Stone Gap, Va. 
            Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home 
            chapel with the Rev. Jonah Ray Shoop and the Rev. Mitchell Elliott 
            officiating. 
            Entombment will be in the Glencoe Cemetery Mausoleum. 
            Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
