            KINGSPORT - Doris Jessee Baker, 65, passed away Thursday (Nov. 15, 
            2001) at her residence. 
            She was born in Wise County, Va., and moved to Kingsport in 1963. 
            She retired from Holston Valley Medical Center and J.P. Stevens. 
            She was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Morrison City. 
            She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilmer Jessee and Frampton 
            Stanley Jessee; one son, Gilmer Michael Baker; and one sister, Joyce 
            Ann Jessee. 
               
            Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Mike (Keltie) Kerney, Weber City, 
            Va., and Mrs. Jeff (Michelle) Herron, Kingsport; two sons, Lloyd 
            "Bo" Baker, Kingsport, and Mark Anthony Baker, Denver, Colo.; two 
            sisters, Mary E. Collins and Miss Agnes Hunsaker, both of Wise, Va.; 
            five brothers, James Jessee, Bristol, Va., Wayland Jessee, Harrison 
            Jessee, both of Wise, Va., William "Billy" Jessee, Oklomoke City, 
            Okla., and Charles Vern "Dock" Jessee, Hillsville, Va.; eight 
            grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 
            Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Carter-Trent Funeral 
            Home, Kingsport. 
            Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home 
            chapel with the Rev. Joe Herron officiating. 
            Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Holston 
            View Cemetery, Weber City, Va. 
            Pallbearers will be family and friends.

           KINGSPORT - Services for Eunice B. Baker, 70, who died Wednesday 
            (Nov. 14, 2001) will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Chestnut Flats 
            Primitive Baptist Church with Elder John Henry Sybert, Elder Greg 
            Hill, and Elder Lewis Baker officiating. 
            Burial will follow in Booher's Chapel Cemetery. 
            Pallbearers will be Gary Price, Larry Price, Mitchum Price, Kenneth 
            Cross, Kevin Cross, Eric Kerney, and Jay Studebaker. 
            Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport, is serving the 
            Baker family. 

            Ruth I. Blevins, 84, Kingsport.
               
            Services for Ruth I. Hagie Blevins, 84, formerly of Kingsport, who 
            went to be with the Lord Wednesday (Nov. 14, 2001) will be conducted 
            at 11 a.m. today in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with the 
            Rev. Orville Rogers and the Rev. Robert Parker Jr. officiating. 
            Interment will follow in the Garden of Everlasting Life III of the 
            East Lawn Memorial Park. 
            Pallbearers will be Lester Williams, Eugene Sparks, Jim Hagie, Bobby 
            Dunn, Bill Hagie and Shannon Dunn. 
            Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Jack Vance. 

            James Chatman, 82, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - James Foy Chatman, 82, Wexford House, passed away Friday 
            (Nov. 16, 2001). 
            Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Fall Branch 
            Chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes. 

            Eloise Christian, 71, Gate City, Va.

            GATE CITY, Va. - Zola Eloise Christian, 71, Route 1, Manville 
            community, died Thursday (Nov. 15, 2001) at Holston Valley Medical 
            Center. 
            She was a housewife. Mrs. Christian was of the Baptist faith and 
            attended Salley's Chapel Church. 
            She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. 
            She was preceded in death by her father and mother, the Rev. 
            Everette Lane and Lucille Bellamy Lane; a brother, Jimmy Lane. 
               
            Surviving are her husband, Jay Christian, of the home; two daughters 
            and sons-in-law, Marcia and Rick Snodgrass, Elizabethton, and Kim 
            and Ronnie Absher, Gate City, Va.; son and daughter-in-law, Phil and 
            Sherry Christian, Gate City, Va.; her grandchildren, Brad and Kim 
            Christian, Ben Christian, Blake and Breven Absher, Melody, Matt, 
            Nic, Jonathan, Jana, Joy, Kari and Kathryn Snodgrass; 
            great-grandson, Mason Christian; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rowena 
            and Glen Johnson, Banner Elk, N.C., Karen and Robert Kojima, 
            Mountain Ranch, Calif.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and 
            Sue Lane, Kingsport and Bill and Rita Lane, Church Hill; several 
            nieces and nephews. 
            Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home, 
            Weber City, Va., and anytime at the residence. 
            Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home 
            chapel with Pastor Charles Boone and the Rev. Claude Lane 
            officiating. 
            Burial will be in the Christian Family Cemetery. 
            Pallbearers will be Blake Absher, Preston Peters, Paul Tipton, 
            Kenneth Blankenbecler, Saunders Jackson, Keith Davidson, Herman 
            Spivey and Joe Henry Christian. 

            Georgia M. Fleenor, 87, Fort Myers, Fla.

            FORT MYERS, Fla. - Graveside services for Georgia Marie Fleenor, 87, 
            3674 Winkler Ave. at the Palms in Fort Myers, Fla., who died Monday 
            (Nov. 12, 2001), will be conducted at 10 a.m. today in Gunnings 
            Cemetery. 
            Pallbearers will be Charles Kenneth Miller III, Timothy Todd 
            Fleenor, Alisa F. Campbell, Steve Campbell, William Samuel Miller, 
            Timothy Todd Fleenor Jr. 
            A memorial service was held on Monday at the Palms in Fort Myers, 
            Fla.

            Eula Mae Francisco, 85, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Mrs. Eula Mae Vermillion Francisco, 85, entered into 
            eternal rest Friday, (Nov. 16, 2001) at the Wexford House.

            City Funeral Home. 

            Gregory Garrison, 26, Rogersville.

            ROGERSVILLE - Gregory Garrison, 26, died at his residence Friday 
            (Nov. 16, 2001).

            Nora Kate Greene, 86, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Nora Kate Hurd Greene, 86, Ridgeway Road, died at 2:35 
            p.m. Friday (Nov. 16, 2001) at her home. 
            Born in Hancock County, she had lived in the Kingsport area more 
            than 60 years. Mrs. Greene was a member of Wallen's Bend Missionary 
            Baptist Church. 
            Her husband, Hubert C. Greene; a sister, Mamie Hurd; 6 brothers, 
            Matt, Carl, Guy, Curtis, Kay and Coy Hurd preceded her in death. 
            Surviving are her two daughters, Sandra Robbins and husband, Bill, 
            Kingsport, Delta Conkin, Kingsport; a son, Carl E. Greene and wife, 
            Margaret, Kingsport, nine grandchildren, fifteen great 
            grandchildren, two sisters, Anna Lou Cox, Church Hill, Tenn., Sally 
            B. Trent, Rogersville, Tenn., and several nieces and nephews. 
            Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral 
            Home, downtown Kingsport. 
            Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home 
            chapel with Rev. Orville Rogers and Pastor Joe Shelton officiating. 
            Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Highland 
            Cemetery. 

            Mark Harkleroad, 32, Memphis, Tenn.

            MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Mark Harkleroad, 32, died Wednesday morning (Nov. 
            14, 2001) at Memphis Regional Medical Center after injuries 
            sustained in an automobile accident. 
            He was born in Kingsport, where he spent most of his life. Mr. 
            Harkleroad was a 1987 graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and 
            attended MTSU. He was employed by Parker Prints in Memphis as a 
            graphic designer. 
               
            Survivors include his wife, Kitty Harkleroad, Memphis; stepdaughter, 
            Sandi Russom, Memphis; stepson, Jonathan Russom, Memphis; and 
            parents, Oscar and Martha Harkleroad, Kingsport. 
            Calling hours are from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral 
            Home, downtown. 
            Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home 
            chapel with Pastor Steve Tilley and David Doty, Minister 
            officiating. 
            Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church 
            Cemetery. 
            Memorial contributions may be given to Heritage First Church of God, 
            2244 Hall St., Kingsport, Tenn. 37660. 

            Billie King, 69, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Billie Hagan King, 69, Thompson Street, passed away 
            Thursday (Nov. 15, 2001) at Indian Path Medical Center. 
            Born in Sullivan County, he attended Sullivan High School and 
            graduated from East Tennessee State University in 1958. He taught 
            school in Waycross, Ga., after which he was employed by Mason-Dixon 
            Truck Lines for a few years. He resumed his teaching at Sullivan 
            County schools until his retirement in 1995. He was a veteran of the 
            U.S. Marine Corps. 
            He was a member of Rock Spring United Methodist Church. 
            He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kenna Denise Horne 
            and his parents, John Knox King and Ruby Shipp King. 
            Surviving are his wife, Peggy Fleming King, of the home; one 
            daughter, Karen King and husband, Kenneth Horn; one son, William 
            Hagan King, all of Kingsport; three sisters, Betty Mitchell, 
            Bedford, Ind., Margaret Selby, Kingsport and Patsy Norwood, 
            Hendersonville, N.C.; one brother, Tom King and his wife, Wilma, 
            Kingsport; two grandchildren, Hagan Horn and Shauna King, both of 
            Kingsport; several nieces and nephews. 
            Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at East Lawn 
            Memorial Park by American Legion Hammond Post No. 3 Colorguard. 
            Those wishing to attend the graveside services will meet at the 
            funeral home at 10 a.m. 
            Pallbearers will be nephews. 
            Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport, is in charge of the 
            arrangements. 

            George T. Lawson, 83, Limestone.

            LIMESTONE - Services for George T. Lawson Sr., 83, 351 Cherry Hill 
            Road, who died at 5 a.m. Thursday (Nov. 15, 2001) will be conducted 
            at 8 p.m. today in the Fall Branch Chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral 
            Homes with Duke Gregory, minister and Wayne Boswell, minister, 
            officiating. 
            Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Fall Branch Chapel 
            and at the home of a daughter, Ann Moore, 353 Cherry Hill Road and 
            the home of his son, Marvin Lawson, 560 Butchertown Road. 
            Graveside services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Fall 
            Branch Church of Christ Cemetery. 

            Nellie Lawson, 82, Rogersville.

            ROGERSVILLE - Services for Nellie Imo Lawson, 82, Heritage Manor 
            Nursing Home, who went to be with the Lord Thursday (Nov. 15, 2001) 
            will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Cobbs Chapel Baptist Church 
            with the Rev. Carl Livesay officiating. 
            Interment will follow in the Lawson Cemetery. 
            Colboch-Price Funeral Home, Rogersville, is in charge of the 
            arrangements. 

            Edward Logan, 80, Rogersville.

            ROGERSVILLE - Edward N. Logan, 80, passed away Friday (Nov. 16, 
            2001) at Wellmont Hawkins County Memorial Hospital. 
            Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Colboch-Price 
            Funeral Home, Rogersville. 

            James W. Moody Sr., 82, Kingsport.
               
            Graveside services for James W. Moody Sr., 82, Kingsport, who went 
            to be with the Lord on Wednesday (Nov. 7, 2001) will be held at 11 
            a.m. today at Gunnings Cemetery with Pastor Tim Adkins officiating. 
            In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity or 
            church of the donor's choice. 
            Pallbearers will be Lance Quillen, Jason Moody, Michael Ray, Michael 
            Burnette, Russell Cornett and Randy Phelps. 
            Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport, is serving the

            Richard Payton, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Richard Joseph Payton died Friday (Nov. 16, 2001) 
            following several years of declining health. 
            Mr. Payton, son of the late Robert and Molly Payton, was born Feb. 
            19, 1923 in Scranton, Pa. Preceding him in death were brothers, 
            Robert, Thomas and Edward and his first wife, Nancy. 
               
            Surviving are his wife, Jean Morris Payton; a sister, Mary Corbett, 
            Scranton, Pa.; daughters, Maureen Collier, Greenville, S.C., 
            Christina Grund and husband, John, Mentor, Ohio; sons, Richard J. 
            Payton Jr. and wife, Ellen, Kingsport, Kevin Payton, Richmond, Va., 
            Terence Payton and wife Deborah, Charlotte, N.C., Robert Payton and 
            wife, Melissa, Centreville, Pa.; six grandchildren, Sean Collier, 
            Sarah, Alex and Elizabeth Payton, Heidi and Lindsey Grund. 
            Mr. Payton was a graduate of the University of Scranton and served 
            with the United States Marine Corp in the South Pacific during World 
            War II. 
            Mr. Payton worked for Mason-Dixon Inc. in West Pittston, Allentown 
            and York, Pa. and Kingsport. He retired as president in 1992. 
            During his years of good health, Mr. Payton belonged and served in 
            many civic and social organizations. 
            Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Oak HIll Funeral 
            Home with a Christian wake prayer service at 7:30 p.m. 
            A memorial mass will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Dominic's Catholic 
            Church with the Rev. Charles Burton officiating.

            Charlie Powers, 80, Duffield, Va.

            DUFFIELD, Va. - Services for James Charlie Powers, 80, of the 
            Fairview community, who died Wednesday (Nov. 14, 2001) will be 
            conducted at 1 p.m. today in the chapel of Duffield Funeral Home at 
            Thomas Village with Evangelist Kenneth Neeley officiating. 
            Burial will be in the Bloomer Cemetery in Fairview. 

            Dixie Stipes, 79, Wise, Va.

            WISE, Va. - Dixie Ellen Stipes, 79, passed away Thursday (Nov. 15, 
            2001) at Heritage Hall Health Care, Big Stone Gap, Va. 
            She was a devoted mother and homemaker and was of the Pentecostal 
            faith. 
            She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Stipes; two 
            sons, Johnny Marion and Frankie Freeman; her parents, Leonard F. and 
            Stacy Ellen Fields Sturgill; and a brother, Clarence T. Sturgill. 
            Surviving are five daughters, Stacy Roberts, Gladys Kendrick, Faye 
            Collins and Betty Eakins, all of Wise, Va., and Bonnie Calhoun, St. 
            Paul, Va.; five sons, Charlie Freeman, Norton, Va., Coy Freeman and 
            David Stipes, both of Wise, Va., Bill Stipes, Appalachia, Va., and 
            Jimmy Stipes, Ocala, Fla.; 35 grandchildren; and several 
            great-grandchildren. 
            Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Sturgill Funeral Home in 
            Wise, Va. 
            Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home 
            chapel with the Rev. Ernest Duncan and the Rev. Charles Starnes 
            officiating.

            Alice M. Swann, 86, Kingsport.
               
            A memorial service for Alice McNeer Swann, 86, 1334 Belmeade Drive, 
            Kingsport, who died at home Tuesday morning (Nov. 13, 2001), will be 
            conducted at 1 p.m. today at St. Paul's Episcopal Church followed by 
            family graveside services at Oak Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Jay Mills 
            and the Rev. Suzanne Smitherman will be officiants. 
            Calling hours will be from 12 noon to 1 p.m. today in the Kent Room 
            at the church.

            JOHNSON CITY - Services for Marian Elaine Watterson, 42, formerly of 
            Kingsport, who departed this life Monday (Nov. 12, 2001), will be 
            conducted at 1 p.m. today at Bethel A.M.E. Zion Church, 812 Mapleoak 
            Lane, Kingsport, with the Rev. Dr. Felix Ofosu officiating. 
            The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 1 p.m. today at the 
            church. 
            Friends may also call anytime at the home of Mrs. Horton, 1109 N. 
            Wilcox Drive, Kingsport. 
            Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

            CHURCH HILL - Gary Wayne Williams, 48, passed away Thursday (Nov. 
            15, 2001) at Holston Valley Medical Center due to injuries sustained 
            in an automobile accident. 
            He was retired from A.L. Industrial in Kingsport and attended Cold 
            Springs Church. 
            He was preceded in death by his father, George Albert Williams; and 
            grandmother, Annie Matilda Williams. 
            Surviving are one daughter, Tanya Nicole Williams; one son, Cody 
            Wayne Williams, Surgoinsville; mother, Bertha Pauline Bryant, 
            Dungannon, Va.; two sisters, Nettie (Roger) Woodruff, Coeburn, Va., 
            and Nell Vina (Paul) McCracken, Church Hill; three half sisters, 
            Marline, Lucille and Tina; two half brothers, Junior (Earnest) and 
            Beuford Williams; several nieces and nephews; special cousins, Brian 
            and Teresa Jones; several aunts and uncles; one special uncle, 
            Willard Williams.
