            BLOUNTVILLE - Jake I. Aquino, 11, 267 Sugar Tree Drive, went to be 
            with his Jesus early Sunday morning (Nov. 18, 2001) after a lengthy 
            illness. 
            He was born in Charleston, S.C., and had been a resident of the 
            Kingsport area for the last nine years. He attended Parkers Chapel 
            Freewill Baptist Church and Indian Springs Elementary School. 
            He was a caring child and a living inspiration to all who knew him, 
            and was not afraid to tell others about Jesus. His smile and 
            testimony will live in our hearts and to all who knew him. 
               
            Surviving are his parents, Penny and Jose Aquino Jr.; maternal 
            grandparents, Lennis and Phyllis France, Kingsport, James and Sandy 
            Lane, Hiltons, Va.; paternal grandparents, Violet Cabalar and Jose 
            Aquino Sr., Hawaii; maternal great-grandmother and husband, D.B. and 
            Faye Long, Kingsport; maternal great-grandfathers and wife, William 
            C. and Effie Lane, Hiltons, Va., Orbin C. Lane, Gate City, Va.; 
            maternal great-great-grandmother, Kate Lane, Ft. Blackmore, Va.; 
            three brothers, Nathaniel "Nathan", Joseph and Gabriel, all of the 
            home; godfather, Anthony Dickens, Kingsport; and several aunts, 
            uncles and cousins. 
            Calling hours are from 5 to 9 p.m. today at East Lawn Funeral Home 
            or anytime at the home. 
            Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Parkers Chapel 
            Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Lennis France and the Rev. 
            Gary Calhoun officiating. 
            Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park. 
            Pallbearers will be Anthony Dickens, David Parker, Mathew Thomas,

            Services for James Foy Chatman, 82, of Kingsport, who went to be 
            with the Lord Friday (Nov. 16, 2001), will be conducted at 8 p.m. 
            Tuesday in the the Fall Branch Chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral 
            Homes with the Rev. Gary Lankford officiating. 
            Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, and 
            anytime at the home of his son, Richard Chatman, 413 Peery St., 
            Kingsport. 
            Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Logan's 
            Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

            Harmon Edwards, 71, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Harmon Junior Edwards, 71, entered into rest Saturday 
            (Nov. 17, 2001) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. 
            He was born June 25, 1930 in Blackwater, Va., to the late Alfred J. 
            and Emmer Vaughn Edwards. 
            Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce 
            Edwards, June 7, 2000; daughter, Vickie Lynn Edwards; one sister, 
            Maggie Reed; half sister, Lizzy Pleasant; two brothers, Curtis and 
            Marion Edwards. 
            Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Wayne 
            Barr, Blountville, Connie and Randell Stacy, Kingsport; one sister, 
            Grace Henard, Kingsport; grandchildren, Chad Jeffers, Amy Jeffers 
            Farmer and Justin Stacy; two great-grandchildren, Faith Jeffers, 
            Hope Farmer; several nieces and nephews. 
            Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Gate City Funeral 
            Home. 
            Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the Gene Falin 
            Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. J.W. Depew and the 
            Rev. Buddy Legg officiating. 
            Music will be provided by Homeland Trio and Glory Echos. 
            Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Holston View 
            Cemetery, Weber City, Va. 
            The family will meet at 12:15 p.m. to go in procession to the 
            cemetery.

            Barr, Justin Stacy, Buck Tipton and Daniel Larkins. 

            Nell Ferguson, 72, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Iva Nell Ferguson Stout, 72, of Telford, passed away 
            Saturday (Nov. 17, 2001) in Telford. 
            She was of the Baptist faith. 
            Mrs. Ferguson retired from Dutch Maid Laundry Service. 
            She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Stout; two sisters 
            and two brothers. 
               
            Survivors include her sons, Allen Stout of Kingsport, and Glen Stout 
            and wife Eva of Ormond Beach, Fla.; daughters, Stella Phillips and 
            husband Lonnie of Kingsport, and Mary Jane Dunn and husband Nathan 
            of Telford; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; sisters, 
            Margaret Ball and Louise Greer, both of Kingsport; and brother, R.B. 
            Ferguson, Elizabethton. 
            Services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Carter-Trent 
            Funeral Home Chapel, downtown, with the Rev. Gene Lasley 
            officiating. 
            Friends will be received immediately following the service in the 
            funeral home chapel, and may also call anytime at the home, 1316 
            Grant Place, Kingsport. 
            Family and friends will meet at the Fordtown Baptist Church Cemetery 
            at 10 a.m. Wednesday for graveside services. 
            Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

            Graveside services for Mae Vermillion Francisco, 85, of Kingsport, 
            who entered into rest Friday (Nov. 16, 2001), 
            will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Holston View Cemetery, Weber 
            City, Va. 
            Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons. 
            The family will be meeting at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home to go 
            in procession to the cemetery.

            Gregory Garrison, 27, Big Stone Gap, Va.

            BIG STONE GAP, Va. - Gregory Elhanan Garrison, 27, of Rogersville, 
            passed away Friday morning (Nov. 16, 2001) at his home. 
            He graduated from Cherokee High School in 1993. He also attended 
            vocational school in Rogersville and received a certification as a 
            machinist. 
            He was employed by H.D.K. Industries. 
            He was of the Baptist faith. 
            He was preceded in death by his sister, Tammy D. Garrison; his 
            maternal grandfather, Elhanan Barker; and paternal grandparents, 
            Benjamin and Avis Garrison. 
               
            Surviving are his parents, Kaye and Marcella Garrison, of the home; 
            brother and sister-in-law, James Allen and Emily Garrison; sister 
            and brother-in-law, Tracy and John Morris; one niece, Cheyenne 
            Garrison; three nephews, Gregory Garrison, Zachary and Jake Morris, 
            all of Rogersville; maternal grandmother, Julie Barker, Duffield, 
            Va. 
            Calling hours will be from 1 to 2 p.m. today at Gilliam Funeral Home 
            in Big Stone Gap, Va.

            Gap, Va. 

            Hubert Gillenwater, 79, Lebanon, Va.

            LEBANON, Va. - Hubert Lewis Gillenwater, 79, of Maple Grove Health 
            Care, formerly of Scott County, departed this life early Sunday 
            morning (Nov. 18, 2001) at Russell County Medical Center. 
            He was retired from TennesseeTank Co. 
            He was a veteran of World War II. 
            Mr. Gillenwater was preceded in death by his parents, Wylie Everette 
            Gillenwater and Carrie Lee Addington Gillenwater Easterling; and 
            half brother, Ray Easterling. 
            Surviving are his sisters, Grace Lane, St. Joseph, Mo., and Mary 
            Easterling, Blountville; brothers, Loyd Gillenwater, Dungannon, Va., 
            and Elwood Gillenwater, Coeburn, Va.; half sisters, Ina Hartsock and 
            Faye Hartsock, both of Hiltons, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. 

            Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Scott County 
            Funeral Home, Weber City, Va. 
            Services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel 
            with the Rev. Layton Bentley officiating. 
            Music will be provided by the Junior Smith Singers. 
            Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Addington Frame Cemetery, 
            Nickelsville, Va. 
            The family will meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. to go to the 
            cemetery.

            Nora Kate Greene, 86, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Graveside services for Nora Kate Hurd Greene, 86, 
            Ridgeway Road, who died at 2:35 p.m. Friday (Nov. 16, 2001), will be 
            conducted at 11 a.m. today at Highland Cemetery.

            arrangements. 

            Dale Hensley Jr., 69, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Dale Hensley Jr., 69, of Belle Hollow Road, passed away 
            Saturday (Nov. 17, 2001) at the Holston Valley Medical Center 
            emergency room.

            Mary Ruth James, Pennington Gap, Va.

            PENNINGTON GAP, Va. - Mary Ruth James passed away Friday, (Nov. 16, 
            2001), at Holston Valley Medical Center. 
            She was born in Pennington Gap, the daughter of the late Pete and 
            Mae Parsons Stidham. 
            She was educated in Lee County, at Lincoln Memorial University and 
            at Radford University. 
            She retired from the Lee County School System after many years of 
            teaching. 
            She was a member of the Pennington Gap First United Methodist 
            Church. 
            Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, 
            Ray Stidham and Thomas Stidham. 
            Surviving are her husband, Charles L. James, Pennington Gap; two 
            daughters, Linda James Hanus and husband Christopher of Tucson, 
            Ariz., and Jennifer James of Traveler's Rest, S.C.; two 
            grandchildren, Katherine Mary Hanus and Ian James Hanus; one sister, 
            Hazel Harber, Kingsport. 
            Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Sturgill Funeral 
            Home in Pennington Gap. 
            Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today at the funeral home 
            chapel with Dr. Kenneth Sprinkle and Dr. Garland James officiating. 
            Committal graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the 
            Powell Valley Cemetery, Dryden, Va.

            Sally Lane, 92, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Sally Donna Templeton Lane, 92, formerly of 109 Ferguson 
            St., passed away Saturday (Nov. 17, 2001) at Greystone Healthcare 
            following a lengthy illness. 
            Mrs. Lane was born July 27, 1909 in Scott County, Va., and was the 
            daughter of the late Hiram Benton Templeton and Nancy Irvin 
            Templeton of Scott County, Va., where she was raised. She had 
            resided in Kingsport for the last 35 years. 
            She was an elementary school teacher at Lanes School, when she was 
            19 years old. Later, she became an LPN through Holston Valley 
            Community Hospital. 
            She was also very active with the church. 
            In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 
            husband, Thomas Jackson Lane of Kingsport; and one son, Douglas 
            Templeton Lane of Scott County, Va. 
            Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Betty L. Williams, 
            Manassas, Va., and Nancy H. and John M. Calhoun, Church Hill; one 
            son, James Howard Lane, Kingsport; nine grandchildren; 12 
            great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. 
            The family of Mrs. Lane will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. 
            Tuesday at Oak Hill Funeral Home. 
            Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home 
            chapel. 
            Interment will follow in the Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, 
            Va.

            Emma Lawson, 79, Harpers Ferry, W.Va.

            HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Emma Jane Lawson, 79, formerly of Big Stone 
            Gap, Va., died Sunday (Nov. 18, 2001) at her residence. 
            She was born Dec. 17, 1921 in Wise County, Va., the daughter of the 
            late Brock Adams and Nancy Haney Adams. 
            She attended the First Assembly of God in Brunswick, Md. She was a 
            member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles 
            Aerie No. 1136 of Brunswick, Md. 
            She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard E. Lawson; one 
            daughter, Wanda Lawson; and three brothers. 
            Surviving are six daughters, Anna Bates, Harpers Ferry, W.Va., Betty 
            Davis, Big Stone Gap, Va., Margaret Barnhouse, Corona, Calif., Kathy 
            Lane, Big Stone Gap, Va., Peggy Harshman, Leesburg, Va., and Debbie 
            Baldridge, Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; seven sons, Harold Lawson, 
            Lucketts, Va., Richard Lawson, Marysville, Wash., Billy Lawson,

            ROGERSVILLE - Services for Edward Neal (Bill) Logan, who was born 
            June 7, 1921 in Hawkins County and went to be with the Lord Friday 
            (Nov. 16, 2001), will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of 
            Colboch-Price Funeral Home, Rogersville. 
            Calling hours will be from 1 to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home. 
            Following the service, Hawkins County Color Guard will conduct 
            military honors at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens. 

            Mary Longworth, 78, Rogersville.

            ROGERSVILLE - Mary Alice Longworth, 78, went to be with the Lord on 
            Friday (Nov. 16, 2001) at Heritage Manor Nursing Home due to an 
            extended illness. 
            She was a member of the Church of God in Richmond, Ind. 
            She was preceded in death by her first husband, Buster Smith; three 
            stepsons, Paul, Ralph and Harold Smith. 
            Surviving are her husband, Wilburn Longworth; son, Ed (Yvonna) 
            Smith, Rogersville; two daughters, Brenda (Sonny) Ashburn, Dearborn, 
            Mich., and Carolyn (Charles) Fields, Greeneville; two stepdaughters, 
            Flora Mayes, Rogersville, and Elizabeth (Fred) Patterson, Amherst, 
            Ohio; four additional stepchildren; 11 grandchildren; nine 
            great-grandchildren.

            Clyde McDavid, 67, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Clyde Edward McDavid, 67, 1457 Ridgecrest Drive, passed 
            away Sunday (Nov. 18, 2001) at the James H. Quillen DVAMC, Mountain 
            Home, Tenn. 
            Born on Oct. 7, 1934, he was a native of the Daniel Boone community 
            in Scott County, Va. He was a son of the late Clyde and Janie Byrd 
            McDavid. 
            He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving his country from 1953 to 
            Dec. 9, 1955. 
            Mr. McDavid was a retired automobile body and fender repairman and 
            painter of the area car dealerships. 
            Surviving are three sons, Tony McDavid, Kingsport, Tim McDavid, 
            Ogden, Utah, and Danny McDavid, Duffield, Va.; five grandchildren, 
            Clint and Colton McDavid, Kingsport, Breanna and Lorin McDavid, 
            Ogden, Utah, and Emily McDavid, Duffield, Va.; one brother, Alfred 
            McDavid, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one niece and one nephew. 
            The family will hold a private memorial service for Clyde Edward 
            McDavid.

            BLOUNTVILLE - Services for Louise McClelland Rowland, who died at 
            her home Saturday morning (Nov. 17, 2001), will be conducted at 11 
            a.m. today at Blountville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John 
            Everett officiating. 
            The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services. 
            Interment will follow in the Blountville Cemetery.

            Lee Sims, 72, Bristol, Va.

            BRISTOL, Va. - Oscar Lee Sims, 72, of 6047 Walker Mountain Road, 
            died at Bristol Nursing Home, Bristol, Tenn., on Saturday (Nov. 17, 
            2001). 
            A son of the late George W. Sims and Nannie B. Smith Sims, he was 
            born in Sullivan County and had lived in Bristol for over 45 years. 
            Mr. Sims was retired from Strongwell Fiberglass Molding. 
            Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Irene 
            Graham, Edith Graham and Virginia Graham; and brother, Garnett Sims. 

               
            Surviving are his wife, Betty Jo Sumner Sims of the home; sons, 
            Vilas Lee Sims and wife Juanita, and Danny Michael Sims and wife 
            Ann, all of Bristol, Va.; daughter, Deborah, "Debbie," Amyx and 
            husband Roger of Blountville; seven grandchildren, 11 
            great-grandchildren; brother, Henry Sims of Pennsylvania; and 
            several nieces and nephews.

            Rev. Wayne Smith, 57, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - The Rev. Wayne Grafton Smith, 57, passed away Friday 
            (Nov. 16, 2001) at the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical 
            Center in Mountain Home, Tenn., going home to be with his Heavenly 
            Daddy. 
            He received his pastoral calling in 1967, and was ordained in 1973 
            and continued as a pastor until his death. 
            He was a loving and devoted husband, father, father-in-law and 
            grandfather. All could see his passion for Jesus. 
            He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. 
            He was greatly loved and will be missed by all those whose lives he 
            touched. 
            He was preceded in death by his parents, Turner and Mary (Siess) 
            Smith. 
            Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Dianne Smith; sons and 
            daughters-in-law, Scott Smith, Montana, Christian "Zach" and Kelly 
            Smith, Church Hill, David and Yumika Smith, Kingsport, Joel and 
            Jocelyn Smith, Johnson City, Joshua and Nakisha Smith, Telford, 
            Jeremiah and Ginger Smith, Fall Branch, Jonathon Smith and Honey 
            Harvey, Atlanta, Ga., and Aaron Smith, Kingsport; daughter and 
            son-in-law, Elisa and Donald Broadway, North Huntingdon, Pa.; 
            grandchildren, Nathaniel Broadway, Jesse Broadway, Ashley Broadway, 
            Alexis Broadway, Noah Smith, Angel Smith and Abishai Smith; sisters,

            JONESVILLE, Va. - Lee Spurlock, 78, Orlando, Fla., passed away 
            Saturday (Nov. 17, 2001) in Orlando. 
            He was the brother of Delora Gibson and Joe Spurlock of Jonesville, 
            Va. 
            Funeral and burial will be in Orlando, Fla.

            David E. Steele, 39, Blountville.

            BLOUNTVILLE - David Earl Steele, 39, 1872 Hwy. 75, passed away 
            Friday evening (Nov. 16, 2001) on his untimely death due to an 
            accidental gunshot wound. 
            David was born June 22, 1962 in Sullivan County, a son of the late 
            Earl Steele and Rebecca Gay Honaker Smith, of Bristol. 
            David was a self-employed painter and worked for Quad Cities 
            Cellular Link in Bristol. He was an outdoorsman and was with the 
            U.S. Army Reserve. 
            He attended the Walnut Hill Presbyterian Church. 
            David was very talented and able to do many things well. He was a 
            very charismatic person with a heart of gold, never failed to help a 
            friend and never met a stranger. He lived his life to the fullest 
            and will be dearly missed by many. 
            In addition to his father, David was preceded in death by his 
            maternal grandfather, Dale Honaker; and paternal grandmother, 
            Florence Steele; a great aunt, Sarah Cameron. 
               
            David is survived by his mother and stepfather, Mrs. Bill (Rebecca 
            Gay Honaker) Steele Smith, Bristol; his children, Rebekah Elizabeth 
            Steele, Steven Earl Steele and their mother, Kimberly Monk Steele,

            one brother and sister-in-law, Michael Daniel Steele and his wife, 
            Eula, Blountville; maternal grandmother, Ella Mae "Jackie" Honaker; 
            special nephews, Justin, Josh, Chance and Ronald; paternal uncle, 
            Paul Steele; maternal aunts and uncles, J.B. and Alice White, Martha 
            and Bob Carpenter, Belle Grubb, Louella Eden; special father-in-law,

            Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Blountville Funeral 
            Home. 
            Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home 
            chapel with the Rev. Stan Anderson officiating. 
            Interment will follow in the Tri-Cities Memory Garden. 
            Pallbearers will be Cary Young, Steve Lohoff, Justin Monk, Mike 
            Mann, Darrell Neece, Chad Rowlett. 
            Honorary pallbearers will be J.B. White, Jerry White, John Pat 
            Staples, Bill Smith, James Monk, Clifford Smith, David Smith, Kenny 
            Ford, Randy Kimberlin and Willie Mallary.
