            BLOUNTVILLE - Jake I. Aquino, 11, 267 Sugar Tree Drive, went to be 
            with his Jesus early Sunday morning (Nov. 18, 2001) after a lengthy 
            illness. 
            He was born in Charleston, S.C., and had been a resident of the 
            Kingsport area for the last nine years. He attended Parkers Chapel 
            Freewill Baptist Church and Indian Springs Elementary School. 
            He was a caring child and a living inspiration to all who knew him, 
            and was not afraid to tell others about Jesus. His smile and 
            testimony will live in our hearts and to all who knew him. 
               
            Surviving are his parents, Penny and Jose Aquino Jr.; maternal 
            grandparents, Lennis and Phyllis France, Kingsport, James and Sandy 
            Lane, Hiltons, Va.; paternal grandparents, Violet Cabalar and Jose 
            Aquino Sr., Hawaii; maternal great-grandmother and husband, D.B. and 
            Faye Long, Kingsport; maternal great-grandfathers and wife, William 
            C. and Effie Lane, Hiltons, Va., Orbin C. Lane, Gate City, Va.; 
            maternal great-great-grandmother, Kate Lane, Ft. Blackmore, Va.; 
            three brothers, Nathaniel "Nathan", Joseph and Gabriel, all of the 
            home; godfather, Anthony Dickens, Kingsport; and several aunts, 
            uncles and cousins. 
            Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today at Parkers Chapel 
            Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Lennis France and the Rev. 
            Gary Calhoun officiating. 
            Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park. 
            Pallbearers will be Anthony Dickens, David Parker, Mathew Thomas, 
            Greg Wallace, Ralph "Buddy" Dingus and Trevor Cole.

            JOHNSON CITY - Billy Joe Baines, 75, died Monday (Nov. 19, 2001) at 
            the Johnson City Medical Center.

            Shirley Bethea, Plainfield, N.J.

            PLAINFIELD, N.J. - Shirley Bethea, born Feb. 7, 1951, took her place 
            with the Lord on Sunday (Nov. 18, 2001). 
            Shirley was a member of the Rose of Sharon Community Church, 825 W. 
            7th St., Plainfield, N.J. 
            She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Buford Hampton; two 
            brothers, James Hampton and Buford Hampton Jr.; grandparents, Samuel 
            and Edith Hoskins; one aunt, Barbara Jean Squire; and one nephew, 
            Donnald Hampton. 
               
            Surviving are her husband, Willie Bethea; four sons, Willie Jr., 
            Eric, Gary and Jody; one daughter, Sherry Bethea; 16 grandchildren, 
            all of Plainfield, N.J.; mother, Mary E. Hampton; seven sisters, 
            Ruthie Wells, Plainfield, N.J., Mary Bond, Patricia Stover, Anita 
            Cox, Peggy Hampton and Brenda Watterson, all of Kingsport, and Doris 
            Jean Williams of Jenkins, Ky.; four brothers, William Hampton, 
            Johnny Hampton, both of Kingsport, Robert Hampton, Ronald Hampton, 
            both of Cincinnati, Ohio; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, 
            aunts, nieces and nephews. 
            The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 
            23, at the Rose of Sharon Community Church, Plainfield, N.J. 
            Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at the church 
            with the Rev. Laverne Ball officiating. Psalms 23:4. 

            John Wayne Bush, 66, Dungannon, Va.

            DUNGANNON, Va. - John Wayne Bush, 66, of Route 2, entered into rest 
            Monday (Nov. 19, 2001) at Maple Grove Health Care in Lebanon, Va. 
            Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by the Gate 
            City Funeral Home. 

            Orville Caudill, 84, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Orville Caudill, 84, died Monday (Nov. 19, 2001) at 
            Wellington Place. 
            He was a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church and served in the 
            U.S. Army during World War II, receiving the Purple Heart award. 
            Mr. Caudill retired from Mead Corp. after many years of service. 
            He was a devoted husband and father. 
            His wife, Edna Giles Caudill and a son preceded him in death. 
            Surviving are a daughter, Jackie Jones and husband Ralph, Frankton, 
            Ind.; two granddaughters, Kelly Jones and Rhnea Gentry; two 
            grandsons, Ralph Alan Jones and Brian Clay Jones; six 
            great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Odus 
            Caudill and wife Juanita, Big Stone Gap, Va.; several nieces and 
            nephews; and special friend and caregiver, Gerrie Arnold. 
            Calling hours are from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at 
            Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport. 
            Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at East 
            Lawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Ronald D. Hicks officiating.

            James Foy Chatman, 82, Kingsport.
               
            Services for James Foy Chatman, 82, of Kingsport, who went to be 
            with the Lord Friday (Nov. 16, 2001), will be conducted at 8 p.m. 
            today in the the Fall Branch Chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes 
            with the Rev. Gary Lankford officiating. 
            Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, and 
            anytime at the home of his son, Richard Chatman, 413 Peery St., 
            Kingsport. 
            Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Logan's 
            Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

            Effie Culbertson, Rogersville.

            ROGERSVILLE - Effie Muriel Culbertson died Sunday (Nov. 18, 2001) at 
            Baysmont Nursing Home. 
            Muriel was born in Livingston, Mont., on July 5, 1910. She lived 
            most of her life in Hawkins County, where she taught school for 
            several years. She later worked at Oak Ridge for several years until 
            her retirement from Union Carbide. 
            Muriel was preceded in death by her parents, Jeptha and Lissie 
            Barrett Culbertson; three brothers and one sister, Leon Culbertson, 
            Onzie Culbertson, Don Culbertson and Jeannette Carter. 
            Surviving are one sister, Lois Haun, Evergreen, Colo.; three 
            brothers, Kenneth M. Culbertson, Bob A. Culbertson, both of 
            Kingsport, and Hoke Culbertson, Harriman; and several nieces and 
            nephews. 
            Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Colboch-Price Funeral 
            Home, Rogersville. 
            Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Highland 
            Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Holt officiating. 

            Horace (Jim) Dolen, 65, Rogersville.

            ROGERSVILLE - Horace N. (Jim) Dolen Jr., 65, of the Beech Creek 
            community, died at 5:15 a.m. Monday (Nov. 19, 2001) at his home of 
            an apparent heart attack. 
            Born in Sullivan County, he resided in Indianapolis, Ind., for over 
            25 years and had been a resident of Beech Creek community since 
            1986. 
            He was employed as a crane operator with General Motors Corporation 
            in Indianapolis, Ind., for 17 years, retiring in 1978 due to ill 
            health. 
            He was a son of the late Horace and Bonnie Bragg Dolen. 
            In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two 
            brothers, Robert (Bob) Dolen and John Dolen. 
            Surviving are his wife, Marlene Hawk Dolen, of the home; two 
            daughters, Tamara Hampton, Beech Creek community, and Sonya Thomas 
            and husband, Danny, Indianapolis, Ind.; two granddaughters, Jessica 
            Hampton and Portia Hampton; three stepgrandchildren, Barb, Donna and 
            Danny Jr.; one stepgreat-granddaughter, Destiny; three sisters, 
            Patsy Davis, Rock Springs community, Peggy Blevins and husband, 
            Jerry, of Kansas, and Phyllis Harrison and husband, J.L., of 
            Indiana; one brother, Dave Dolen and wife, Judy, Kingsport; niece, 
            Gail Davis; and six nephews, Rodney, Steven, Joe, Michael, David and 
            Jason. 
            Calling hours are from 5 to 7:30 p.m. today in the Fall Branch 
            Chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, and also anytime at the 
            home. 
            Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Fall Branch 
            Chapel with the Rev. Orville Dolen and the Rev. Keith Williams 
            officiating. 
            Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. 
            Nephews and friends will serve as pallbearers.

            Junior Edwards, 71, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Harmon Junior Edwards, 71, entered into rest Saturday 
            (Nov. 17, 2001) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. 
            He was born June 25, 1930 in Blackwater, Va., to the late Alfred J. 
            and Emmer Vaughn Edwards. 
            Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce 
            Edwards, June 7, 2000; daughter, Vickie Lynn Edwards; one sister, 
            Maggie Reed; half sister, Lizzy Pleasant; two brothers, Curtis and 
            Marion Edwards. 
            Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Wayne 
            Barr, Blountville, Connie and Randell Stacy, Kingsport; one sister, 
            Grace Henard, Kingsport; grandchildren, Chad Jeffers, Amy Jeffers 
            Farmer and Justin Stacy; two great-grandchildren, Faith Jeffers, 
            Hope Farmer; several nieces and nephews. 
            Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today at Holston View Cemetery, 
            Weber City, Va. 
            The family will meet at 12:15 p.m. to go in procession to the 
            cemetery. 
            Pallbearers will be Chad Jeffers, Chris Farmer, Randall Stacy, Wayne 
            Barr, Justin Stacy, Buck Tipton and Daniel Larkins. 
            Gate City Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. 

            Nell Ferguson, 72, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Iva Nell Ferguson Stout, 72, of Telford, passed away 
            Saturday (Nov. 17, 2001) in Telford. 
            She was of the Baptist faith. 
            Mrs. Ferguson retired from Dutch Maid Laundry Service. 
            She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Stout; two sisters 
            and two brothers. 
               
            Survivors include her sons, Allen Stout of Kingsport, and Glen Stout 
            and wife Eva of Ormond Beach, Fla.; daughters, Stella Phillips and 
            husband Lonnie of Kingsport, and Mary Jane Dunn and husband Nathan 
            of Telford; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; sisters, 
            Margaret Ball and Louise Greer, both of Kingsport; and brother, R.B. 
            Ferguson, Elizabethton. 
            Services will be conducted at 6 p.m. today in the Carter-Trent 
            Funeral Home Chapel, downtown, with the Rev. Gene Lasley 
            officiating. 
            Friends will be received immediately following the service in the 
            funeral home chapel, and may also call anytime at the home, 1316 
            Grant Place, Kingsport. 
            Family and friends will meet at the Fordtown Baptist Church Cemetery 
            at 10 a.m. Wednesday for graveside services. 
            Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. 

            Hubert Gillenwater, 79, Lebanon, Va.

            LEBANON, Va. - Services for Hubert Lewis Gillenwater, 79, of Maple 
            Grove Health Care, formerly of Scott County, who departed this life 
            early Sunday morning (Nov. 18, 2001), will be held at 7 p.m. today 
            in the chapel of Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City, Va., with 
            the Rev. Layton Bentley officiating. 
            Music will be provided by the Junior Smith Singers. 
            Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. 
            Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Addington Frame Cemetery, 
            Nickelsville, Va. 
            The family will meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. to go to the 
            cemetery.

            Dale Hensley Jr., 69, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Dale Hensley Jr., 69, of Belle Hollow Road, passed away 
            Saturday (Nov. 17, 2001) at the Holston Valley Medical Center 
            emergency room.

            Virginia Lacy, 83, Morristown.

            MORRISTOWN - Virginia Harris Lacy, 83, 1230 McFarland St. No. 26, 
            born Aug. 3, 1918, passed away Monday (Nov. 19, 2001) at 
            Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare. 
            She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of 
            Morristown, Sunday School teacher, member of the Red Cross, Soma 
            Sala and established the first kindergarten at First Presbyterian 
            Church of Johnson City, Tenn. 
            She was former first lady of Morristown and past state president of 
            the DAR. She was a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother to 
            lots of people. 
            She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Lacy Sr. 
            Surviving are sons, William E. Lacy Jr. (Cathy), James H. Lacy 
            (Suzanna), Waukesha, Wis., Robert J. Lacy (Martha Alice), 
            Morristown, and A. Roger Lacy (Suzette), Knoxville; a daughter, Sara 
            Lacy Morrison (Jim), Morristown; sister, Sara Harris Moffitt (Dr. 
            Charles); grandchildren, San Butler, Dixon, Tenn., Ginny Lacy, 
            Charleston, S.C., Todd Lacy, White Pine, Tenn., Matt Lacy, 
            Morristown, Bo Morrison, Morristown, Will Morrison, Morristown, 
            Laura Lacy, Knoxville, Tish Truell and Amanda Truell, Atlanta, Ga.,

            Dona Lane, 92, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Sally Dona Templeton Lane, 92, formerly of 109 Ferguson 
            St., passed away Saturday (Nov. 17, 2001) at Greystone Healthcare 
            following a lengthy illness. 
            Mrs. Lane was born July 27, 1909 in Scott County, Va., and was the 
            daughter of the late Hiram Benton Templeton and Nancy Irvin 
            Templeton of Scott County, Va., where she was raised. She had 
            resided in Kingsport for the last 35 years. 
            She was an elementary school teacher at Lanes School, when she was 
            19 years old. Later, she became an LPN through Holston Valley 
            Community Hospital. 
            She was also very active with the church. 
            In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 
            husband, Thomas Jackson Lane of Kingsport; and one son, Douglas 
            Templeton Lane of Scott County, Va. 
            Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Betty L. Williams, 
            Manassas, Va., and Nancy H. and John M. Calhoun, Church Hill; one 
            son, James Howard Lane, Kingsport; nine grandchildren; 12 
            great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. 
            The family of Mrs. Lane will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today 
            at Oak Hill Funeral Home. 
            Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home 
            chapel with the Rev. Cecil Hood and the Rev. Claude Lane 
            officiating. 
            Interment will follow in the Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, 
            Va.

            Mary Longworth, 78, Rogersville.

            ROGERSVILLE - Services for Mary Alice Longworth, 78, who went to be 
            with the Lord on Friday (Nov. 16, 2001) will be held at 2 p.m. today 
            in the chapel of Colboch-Price Funeral Home, Rogersville, with the 
            Rev. Neal Drinnon and the Rev. Hassel Carpenter officiating. 
            Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery. 

            Clyde McDavid, 67, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Clyde Edward McDavid, 67, 1457 Ridgecrest Drive, passed 
            away Sunday (Nov. 18, 2001) at the James H. Quillen DVAMC, Mountain 
            Home, Tenn. 
            Born on Oct. 7, 1934, he was a native of the Daniel Boone community 
            in Scott County, Va. He was a son of the late Clyde and Janie Byrd 
            McDavid. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving his country from 
            1953 to Dec. 9, 1955. 
            Mr. McDavid was a retired automobile body and fender repairman and 
            painter of the area car dealerships. 
            Surviving are three sons, Tony McDavid, Kingsport, Tim McDavid, 
            Ogden, Utah, and Danny McDavid, Duffield, Va.; five grandchildren, 
            Clint and Colton McDavid, Kingsport, Breanna and Lorin McDavid, 
            Ogden, Utah, and Emily McDavid, Duffield, Va.; one brother, Alfred 
            McDavid, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one niece and one nephew. 
            The family will hold a private memorial service for Clyde Edward 
            McDavid.

            Jackie Morelock, 56, Rancho Mirage, Calif.

            RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. - Jackie Eugene Morelock, 56, died Friday 
            (Nov. 9, 2001) in Rancho Mirage. 
            Born on June 24, 1945 in Kingsport, he was the son of Wesley Kelly 
            Morelock and Alaine Laura Dickson Morelock. He was married to Pamela 
            Suzanne Mitchell on April 8, 1999 in Las Vegas, Nev. 
            He was a regional sales manager for AFG Industries in Kingsport for 
            23 years. 
            Surviving are his wife, Pamela Morelock, Rancho Mirage; son, 
            Mitchell Dodds, Rancho Mirage; and sister, Charma Powell, of 
            Tennessee. 
            Visitation was held on Thursday (Nov. 15, 2001) in Palm Springs 
            Mortuary, Cathedral City, Calif. 
            Services were conducted on Friday (Nov. 16, 2001) in the Ramon 
            Chapel of the mortuary. 
            Burial was in Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City, Calif. 

            Ike Pendleton, 81, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Isaac (Ike) L. Pendleton, 81, passed away Monday (Nov. 
            19, 2001) at Holston Valley Medical Center. 
            He was born in the Manville community of Scott County, Va., on April 
            11, 1920. He was the son of the late Robert Patton Pendleton and 
            Sarah Ervin Pendleton. 
            Mr. Pendleton was owner of Pendleton's Grocery. 
            In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, 
            Dorothy June Williams Pendleton; sisters, Myrtle P. Pierson, Edith 
            P. Grimm, Margaret Pendleton, Madge Pendleton; brothers, Sol, 
            Hayden, Bill and Lloyd Pendleton. 
            Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Phyllis and Bill 
            Quillen, of Kingsport; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Steve and 
            Lois Pendleton, of Gray, Keith Ike Pendleton, Kenneth Mike and 
            Barbara Pendleton, all of Kingsport (Bloomingdale community); 
            grandchildren, Jason, Matt, Kevin, Kristy, Brian and Tiffany 
            Pendleton; great-grandchildren, Lauren and Jason Pendleton; several 
            nieces and nephews. 
            Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home, 
            Weber City, Va., and anytime at the residence of a son, Mike 
            Pendleton, 3348 Grandview Dr., Kingsport. 
            Services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel at 8 p.m.

            Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oak Hill 
            Cemetery.

            Rebecca Price, 86, Rogersville.

            ROGERSVILLE - Rebecca Johnson Price, 86, formerly of Mooresburg, 
            went to be with the Lord Monday morning (Nov. 19, 2001) at Hawkins 
            County Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. 
            She was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Bean Station. 

            She was preceded in death by her husband, Bascom Price Sr.; parents, 
            Clyde and Lucy Johnson; two brothers, Mack Johnson and William 
            Johnson; and sister, Joy Miner. 
            Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, William Bascom Price Jr. 
            and Darlene Price of Rogersville; daughter, Mary Jo Henderson of 
            Rogersville; one grandson, William Eugene Price of Kingsport; 
            several nieces and nephews. 
            Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Colboch-Price

            Flora Putnam, 91, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Flora Dell Johnston Putnam, 91, Oak Street, died at 4:45 
            p.m. Sunday (Nov. 18, 2001) at Brookhaven Health Care. 
            Born in Scott County, Va. (Gate City), she came to Kingsport at an 
            early age. She was of the Methodist faith. 
            She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac Herron and Hannah 
            Smith Herron; three sisters, Clara East, Mary Litton and Nell 
            Clayton; and two brothers, Erritt Herron and Cecil Herron. 
            Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy J. Johnston and wife, 
            Barbara, Kingsport; a daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Sam (Ruth)

            Glen Odell Rains, 73, Newport News, Va.

            NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Glen Odell Rains, 73, passed away Friday (Nov. 
            9, 2001) at Riverside Hospital in Newport News, Va. 
            A native of Lee County, Va., he served in the U.S. Navy in VF-82 on 
            board the USS Randolph, retired from 39 years of Civil Service at 
            Fort Eustis, Va., as deputy adjutant general, and was co-founder and 
            last surviving partner of the W.T. Glen Tax & Accounting Co. 
            Mr. Rains was preceded in death by his father, E.T. Rains, formerly 
            of Church Hill. 
            Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Dorothy Proffitt Rains, Newport 
            News, Va.; three sons, Steve Rains, Clearwater, Fla., Dave Rains, 
            Brownstown, Mich., Joe Rains, Newport News, Va.; one daughter, 
            Deborah Rains Brown, Newport News, Va.; 11 grandchildren; his 
            mother, Lillie Mae Rains, Church Hill; three brothers, James Rains, 
            Columbus, Ohio, Herbert Rains, Kingsport, and Carl Rains, Church 
            Hill; and one sister, Patsy Rains Bledsoe, Jonesville, Va. 
            Services were conducted on Monday at Menchville Baptist Church with 
            interment in Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News, Va.

            Lee Sims, 72, Bristol, Va.
               
            BRISTOL, Va. - Services for Oscar Lee Sims, 72, of 6047 Walker 
            Mountain Road, who died at Bristol Nursing Home, Bristol, Tenn., on 
            Saturday (Nov. 17, 2001), will be conducted today at 1 p.m. in the 
            chapel of Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown, with the Rev. Lester 
            Ketron and the Rev. Robert Brewer officiating. 
            Graveside services will follow at Herman United Methodist Church 
            Cemetery in East Carter's Valley. 
            Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.

            KINGSPORT - Military graveside services for the Rev. Wayne Grafton 
            Smith, 57, who passed away Friday (Nov. 16, 2001), will be held 
            today at 10 a.m. at the Mountain Home VA Cemetery. 
            Smith's sons will serve as pallbearers.

            David E. Steele, 39, Blountville.

            BLOUNTVILLE - David Earl Steele, 39, 1872 Hwy. 75, passed away due 
            to an untimely death of an accidental gunshot wound Friday evening 
            (Nov. 16, 2001). 
            David was born June 22, 1962 in Sullivan County, a son of the late 
            Earl Steele and Rebecca Gay Honaker Smith, of Bristol. David was a 
            self-employed painter and worked for Quad Cities Cellular Link in 
            Bristol. He was an outdoorsman and was with the U.S. Army Reserve. 
            He attended the Walnut Hill Presbyterian Church. 
            David was very talented and able to do many things well. He was a 
            very charismatic person with a heart of gold, never failed to help a 
            friend and never met a stranger. He lived his life to the fullest 
            and will be dearly missed by many. 
            In addition to his father, David was preceded in death by his 
            maternal grandfather, Dale Honaker and paternal grandmother, 
            Florence Steele; a great aunt, Sarah Cameron. 
               
            David is survived by his mother and stepfather, Mrs. Bill (Rebecca 
            Gay Honaker) Steele Smith, Bristol; his children, Rebekah Elizabeth 
            Steele, Steven Earl Steele and their mother, Kimberly Monk Steele, 
            all of Kingsport; two sisters and brother-in-law, Lisa Steele Lohoff 
            and her husband, Steve, Piney Flats, Donna Steele Walden, Bristol; 
            one brother and sister-in-law, Michael Daniel Steele and his wife, 
            Eula, Blountville; maternal grandmother, Ella Mae "Jackie" Honaker; 
            special nephews, Justin, Josh, Chance and Ronald; paternal uncle, 
            Paul Steele; maternal aunts and uncles, J.B. and Alice White, Martha 
            and Bob Carpenter, Belle Grubb, Louella Eden; special father-in-law, 
            James Monk and mother-in-law, Maxine Monk. 
            Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at the Blountville 
            Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stan Anderson officiating. 
            Interment will follow in the Tri-Cities Memory Garden.

            Vester Lee Steverson, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Vester Lee Steverson, 1456 Carolina Avenue, was born on 
            Jan. 15, 1915 in Lebanon, Tenn., to the late Archie and Mrs. Betty 
            Robertson Steverson, He departed this life on Sunday (Nov. 18, 2001) 
            at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. 
            Vester touched a number of lives with his quiet yet perceptive 
            persona. He will be missed by all of those who knew him. 
            He leaves to cherish his memory a very loving and devoted wife of 51 
            years, Mrs. Virginia Steverson; stepson, Robert Lee (Bessie) Ramsey, 
            Folsom, Calif.; one aunt, Mrs. Ann Lou Haynes, Nashville; three 
            brothers-in-law, Wade Franklin (Josephine) Ramsey, Los Angeles, 
            Calif., Harry Dewitt Ramsey, Los Angeles, Calif., and Dr. Harold 
            Edward (Elizabeth) Ramsey, Baltimore, Md.; one stepgrandson, Bryan 
            Ramsey, Los Angeles, Calif.; and a host of nieces, nephews and 
            devoted friends. 
            Calling hours are from 11 a.m. to 12 noon Wednesday at St. Marks 
            United Methodist Church. 
            Services will be conducted at 12 noon Wednesday at the church with 
            Pastor Douglass Tweed officiating. 
            Burial will be on Saturday in Lebanon, Tenn.

            Bobby Stokes, 60, Surgoinsville.

            SURGOINSVILLE - Bobby Danford Stokes, 60, of 1741 Caney Valley Loop, 
            went home to be with the Lord Sunday (Nov. 18, 2001). 
            Mr. Stokes was born in Scott County, Va., and had spent most of his 
            life in Hawkins County. He was employed by the A & L Company, and 
            was a member of the Pink Hill Primitive Baptist Church. 
            He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie B. and Katherine 
            Slagle Stokes; one brother, William Tom Stokes; and very special 
            father-in-law, Frank Winegar. 
            Survivors include his loving wife of 39 years, Mrs. Verna Winegr 
            Stokes of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Mike Higgins 
            of Church Hill; very special grandson, Bobby James (B.J.) Higgins; 
            brothers, Lewis Stokes and Robert Stokes, both of Kingsport; 
            sisters, Shirly Winegar of Surgoinsville, and Marie McClellan of 
            Kingsport; very special mother-in-law, Mavis Winegar of 
            Surgoinsville; and several nieces and nephews.

            mother-in-law, Mavis Winegar, 1765 Caney Valley Loop, Surgoinsville,

            Reba Willis, 73, Blackwater, Va.

            BLACKWATER, Va. - Reba Willis, 73, went to be with the Lord on 
            Sunday (Nov. 18, 2001) at the Lee Regional Medical Center in 
            Pennington Gap, Va. 
            Born in Scott County, Va., on Nov. 15, 1928, she was the daughter of 
            the late Dan and Easter Vanzant Fisher. 
            She was a member of the Osborne Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. 
            In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 
            husband, Hagan Willis; one grandson; and one brother, Ronnie Fisher. 

            Surviving are three sons, the Rev. Harmon Willis, James Willis and 
            wife Shirley, all of White Pine, Tenn., and Johnny Willis of 
            Blackwater; two daughters, Mae Gilliam and husband Paul, Norma 
            Willis, all of Blackwater; six grandchildren and seven 
            great-grandchildren; one sister, Rosa Gilreath of Blackwater; one 
            brother, Elmer Fisher and wife Mary of Blackwater; one niece, Joyce 
            Neeley and husband Everette Donald of Blackwater; a special friend, 
            Deanna Osborne. 
            Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Robinette 
            Funeral Home in Blackwater, or anytime at the home of her daughter, 
            Mae Gilliam.
