            BLACKWATER, Va. - Burial for Mrs. Chaine Eva Bledsoe, 83, of the 
            Fairview community, who died Thursday morning (Nov. 29, 2001) will 
            be at 2 p.m. today in the Bledsoe Family Cemetery in Fairview. 
            Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the 
            committal service. 
            Duffield Funeral Home at Thomas Village is in charge of the 
            arrangements. 

            Edgar W. Bowlin Sr., 82, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Edgar Wallace Bowlin Sr., 82, 704 Kendrick Creek Road, 
            died Thursday (Nov. 29, 2001) at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital. 
            Mr. Bowlin was born in Hancock County and had resided in Kingsport 
            most of his life. He served in the Army during World War II, after 
            which he was a renowned artist and sculptor the remainder of his 
            life. Some of his most noted works include a hall of presidents 
            (Washington through Nixon) wax museum in Pennsylvania, statues 
            including John Sevier in Knoxville, Sen. Kenneth McKellar at 
            Tri-Cities Airport, Sen. Carroll Reese at ETSU in Johnson City, 
            Andrew Johnson in Greeneville, Tenn., Helen Kellar at the Alabama 
            Institute for the Deaf and the Blind, Talladega, Ala., oil portraits 
            of Dwight Eisenhower and John F. Kennedy, as well as several 
            liturgical masterpieces in area churches. His paintings and 
            sculpture works over the past 55 years are located throughout the 
            United States and 14 countries abroad. 
            He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Cortelia 
            Bowlin; one brother, Malcolm Bowlin; and one sister, Nina Dolen. 
               
            Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Clara Estep Bowlin; two sons, 
            Col. Gladwyn Bowlin and wife, Susan Jones Bowlin, Atlanta, Ga., 
            Edgar Bowlin Jr. and wife, April Nicholson Bowlin, Kingsport; one 
            daughter, Mrs. Portia Bowlin Seay and husband, Jonathan Dwight Seay 
            I, Kingsport; four grandsons, J.D. Seay II, Ben Bowlin, Edgar Bowlin 
            III and Luke Bowlin; one granddaughter, Heather Seay; and three 
            great-grandchildren. 
            Calling hours are from 12:30 to 2 p.m. today at Hamlett-Dobson 
            Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport. 
            Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in the funeral home 
            chapel with Pastor Gene Mermilliod officiating. 
            Interment will follow in the Mount Mitchell Primitive Baptist Church 
            Cemetery, Mount Carmel with military graveside rites conducted by 
            the Charles DeWitt Byrd Post No. 3382 of the VFW. 
            Pallbearers will be Dr. Don Kilday, J.D. Seay, Ben Bowlin, Sam 
            Jones, Frank Childers, Dennis Byrd and Owen Horton. 
            Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jim Beck, Dr. Dan Culbertson, 
            Raymond Williams, Dr. Roy Jarvis, Daryl Hyder, Don Hazen and Kenneth 
            Dillow.

            Ruby Calhoun, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Ruby Calhoun died Friday (Nov. 30, 2001) at Indian Path 
            Hospital. 
            Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Oak Hill 
            Funeral Home. 

            Marie Clark, 86, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Marie Louise "Betty" Clark, 86, 104 Crown Colony, died 
            Thursday (Nov. 29, 2001) at her residence. 
            She was a native of Valley Stream, Long Island, New York and had 
            lived in this area for the last 43 years. She was the daughter of 
            the late Harry W. and Dorothy Henderson LeBair. 
            She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and Ridgefields 
            Country Club. 
            In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 
            husband, Paul Mitchell Clark; one daughter, Susan Dorothy Clark; and 
            one brother, Harry W. LeBair Jr. 
            Surviving are two sons, Paul Mitchell Clark Jr., Brenham, Texas and 
            David Dudley Clark, Barrington, R.I.; two nieces Loretta LeBair 
            Metcalf and Linda LeBair Parnell; eight grandchildren; and several 
            nieces and nephews. 
            Calling hours are from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Episcopal 
            Church on Ravine Road in Kingsport. The memorial service will follow 
            at 11 a.m. 
            The graveside will be held following the memorial service in the 
            cemetery of the church. 
            The family will also receive friends at the home, 104 Periwinkle 
            Place, Kingsport at noon following the graveside. 
            In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Paul's Episcopal 
            Church, Ravine Road, Kingsport.

            Daisy Hamly, Johnson City.

            JOHNSON CITY - Daisy Tipton Hamly, 1121 Antioch Road, went to be 
            with the Lord Friday (Nov. 30, 2001) at Lakebridge Health Care 
            Center, Johnson City after an extended illness. 
            She was born in Carter County and spent most of her life in Johnson 
            City. She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church. 
            Mrs. Hamly was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Mr. and 
            Mrs. William W. Flanagan of Church Hill; her birth parents, Mr. and 
            Mrs. Marion Tipton of Roan Mountain; first husband, Ralph Church; a 
            brother, Willard Tipton; and nine half-brothers and four 
            half-sisters. 
            Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Ralph Edward Hamly, of the 
            home; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca (Becky) and Steven Clayman, 
            Kingsport; son and daughter-in-law, Kermit Wayne and Susan Church, 
            Honolulu, Hawaii; grandson, Jason M. Clayman, Emory, Va.; 
            granddaughters, Shannon Church, Alexandria, Va., Mrs. Judy Knowles 
            and Anita Church, both of Watertown, Tenn.; half-sister, Virginia 
            Miller; and several nieces and nephews. 
            Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Morris-Baker Funeral 
            Home, Johnson City. 
            Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home 
            chapel with the Rev. Joe-D Dowling Soka officiating. 
            Committal services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 
            Monte Vista Burial Park, where friends are invited to meet the 
            family for these services.

            Jessie Alley Jones, 90, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Jessie Alley Jones, 90, went to be with the Lord 
            Thursday (Nov. 29, 2001) at Wexford House after an extended illness. 

            Born in Scott County, Va., she had lived in Kingsport since 1930. 
            She was of the Baptist faith, having been baptized at an early age. 
            She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman E. Jones in 1981; 
            parents, Joseph Monroe and Derinda Alley; sisters, Juanita Horton 
            and Willie Mae Frye; and brother, James Alley. 
               
            Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Irene and Joseph 
            Douglas, Pauline and B. W. Winstead; two grandsons, Eddie and Debbie 
            Winstead and Tony Douglas; a great-grandson, David Winstead and 
            wife, Jennifer; a great-granddaughter, Heather and Eric Salyer; four 
            great-great-grandsons, Cody, Tylor and Connor Winstead and Logan 
            Salyer; a step-granddaughter, Debbie and David Ray; two 
            step-great-grandsons, Glen and William Ray; one brother-in-law, 
            Herman Horton; three nieces, Geraldine Easley, Sandra Jepson and 
            Vivian Strawderman.

            John R. Lawson, 39, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - John R. Lawson, 39, 1525 Kings Road, died Friday (Nov. 
            30, 2001) after a brief illness. 
            He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Reece and Addie 
            Hurd; paternal grandparents, Guy and Nora Lawson. 
            Surviving are his mother, Ruth Lawson, Kingsport; father, Curtis 
            Lawson, Johnson City; one sister and brother-in-law, Laura Christian 
            and husband, Mike, Church Hill; one step-niece, Megan Christian, 
            Church Hill; an uncle, Steve Hurd and wife, Sharon; an aunt, Mary Jo 
            Davis, Kingsport; several cousins.

            Gertrude Light, 89, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - Gertrude M. Light, 89, 1924 Bowater Lane, died at 2:10 
            p.m. Friday (Nov. 30, 2001) at Wexford House. 
            She had lived in Kingsport for many years. 
            Mrs. Light was a Baptist. 
            Surviving are a daughter, Peggy Light, Kingsport; two sons, Robert 
            Light Sr. and Gary Light and wife, Patsy, both of Kingsport; several 
            grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruby Light and 
            Eula Phillips, both of Kingsport; and one brother, Fred Hudson, 
            Kingsport.

            George Larry McClellan, 57, Kingsport.
               
            Graveside services for George Larry McClellan, 57, Kingsport, who 
            passed away Wednesday (Nov. 28, 2001) will be conducted at 1 p.m. 
            today in the East Lawn Memorial Park Garden of Love.

            Robert M. McKee, 71, Surgoinsville.

            SURGOINSVILLE - Robert M. McKee Sr., 71, 630 Williams Road, died 
            Friday (Nov. 30, 2001) at Holston Valley Medical Center after an 
            extended illness. 
            Mr. McKee was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Germany 
            during the Korean Conflict. He was a board member of the Hawkins 
            County School System for 16 years. 
            He retired from Holliston Mills, Church Hill and was a member of the 
            Surgoinsville First Baptist Church. 
            He was preceded in death by his parents, Edd M. and Reba Russell 
            McKee. 
            Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Jimmie Reynolds McKee, of the 
            home; one daughter, Linda Thurman and husband Johnny of 
            Surgoinsville; two sons, Mitchell McKee and wife, Teresa of 
            Surgoinsville and Steven McKee and wife, Evie of Durham, N.C.; 
            grandchildren, Jennifer McKee of Kingsport, Christopher and Kaitlyn 
            McKee of Surgoinsville, Justin and Makala Thurman of Surgoinsville; 
            two step-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; three 
            sisters, Elaine King and husband, Tom of Radford, Va., Louise Rahm 
            and husband, Richard of Tucker, Ga., Shirley Budlong and husband, 
            Don of Richmond, Va.; two brothers, Ralph McKee and wife, Myrtle of 
            Johnson City and Gene McKee of Kingsport; and several nieces and 
            nephews.

            Services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the church with

            William Moffitt, 82, Kingsport.

            KINGSPORT - William Wallace Moffitt, 82, 2016 John B. Dennis Hwy., 
            died Tuesday (Nov. 27, 2001) at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital 
            after an extended illness. 
            Mr. Moffitt lived in Kingsport all of his life and had been a 
            resident of Wexford House for the last seven years. He retired from 
            Tennessee Eastman Co. in 1981 after 41 years of service. 
            He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Allen Moffitt; parents, 
            D.W. and Etta Moffitt; a brother, Thomas Moffitt; and a sister, 
            Mabel Moffitt. 
            Surviving are two daughters, Brenda Moffitt and Dreena Roache, both 
            of Kingsport; three sons, Phillip Moffitt, Belvedere, Calif., David 
            Moffitt and Andrew Moffitt, both of Knoxville; a sister, Margaret 
            Peters; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several 
            nieces and nephews. 
            Private graveside services will be conducted today at Oak Hill 
            Cemetery with Pastor Mike Stout officiating.

            James Mullins, 50, Youngstown, Ohio.

            YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - James Edward (Eddie) Mullins, 50, Youngstown, 
            Ohio, passed away on Wednesday (Nov. 28, 2001) in Bradenton, Fla. 
            Mr. Mullins was born and raised in Kingsport and lived there until 
            moving to Florida in 1980. He moved to Youngstown in 2000. Mr. 
            Mullins worked formerly as a truck driver with the U.S. Postal 
            Service in Florida for 20 years. He also played bass with the Smokey 
            Joe Band in Florida for several years. 
            He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur (Bill) and Phyllis 
            (Red) Mullins; stepson, Ernest Timothy Marshall; brother, Bobby 
            Mullins; cousin, James Edward (Skinny Eddie) Mullins, Youngstown, 
            Ohio; and uncle, Hillery M. (Bug) Mullins. 
               
            He is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Cynthia Mullins of 
            Youngstown; son and daughter-in-law, James Edward (Little Eddie) and 
            Jodie (Belle) Mullins Jr. of Sarasota, Fla.; daughter and 
            son-in-law, Shanoa Michelle Mullins Berg and Timothy C. (Timmy) 
            Berg, Jr. of Youngstown; stepdaughter, Tonya E. Hamilton of Holiday, 
            Fla.; brother, Billy Mullins of Kingsport; five grandchildren, Jesse 
            James Mullins, Ashley Danielle Mullins, Shanoa Lachelle Berg, 
            Cynthia Michelle Berg, Kody James Berg; and four stepgrandchildren.

            Earl Nelson, 60, Jonesville, Va.

            JONESVILLE, Va. - Earl Thomas Nelson, 60, died Friday (Nov. 30, 
            2001) at his residence. 
            A resident of Lee County, Va., for most of his life, he was a 
            disabled coal miner. 
            He was preceded in death by his parents, James Wesley and Alice 
            Nelson. 
            Surviving are his wife, Reba Ely Nelson, Jonesville, Va.; two sons, 
            Wesley Earl Nelson, Jonesville, Va., and Rick Nelson and wife, 
            Wanda, Pennington Gap, Va.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kelley 
            Stewart and Blake, Richmond, Va., and Sharlene Fannon and Barry, 
            Hiltons, Va.; one granddaughter, April Collins; one half brother, 
            Elbert Gilbert and wife, Grace, Carleton, Mich.; one sister, Irene 
            Anderson, Jonesville, Va.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Earl and 
            Ruby Jean Ely, Jonesville, Va.; several nieces, nephews and a host 
            of family and friends.

            Lottie Page, 89, Weber City, Va.

            WEBER CITY, Va. - Lottie Kathleen Page, 89, formerly of Gate City, 
            departed this life Thursday morning (Nov. 29, 2001) at the Brian 
            Center Health and Rehabilitation Center in Weber City, Va. 
            She was a charter member of Speers Ferry Church. 
            She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac Page and Cordellia 
            Barnette Page; three sisters, Mobie Falin (September 2001) and Lydia 
            Rhoton and Lula Williams; a brother, Jay Page. 
            Surviving are several nieces and nephews. 
            Calling hours are from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today at Scott County Funeral 
            Home, Weber City, Va. 
            Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home 
            chapel with Pastor Johnny Duncan officiating.

            Rodney Plaster, 40, Coeburn, Va.

            COEBURN, Va. - Rodney "Hot Rod" Plaster, 40, died Thursday (Nov. 29, 
            2001) at St. Mary's Hospital in Norton, Va. 
            He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville King and Flora A. 
            Moore Plaster and other family members. 
            Surviving are four sisters, Shirley McElyea, Sherry Shepherd and 
            Geraldine Duty, all of Coeburn, Va., and Virginia Franklin, 
            Castlewood, Va.; three brothers, Orville Plaster, Walter Plaster and 
            Joe Plaster, all of Coeburn, Va.; several nieces, nephews, aunts, 
            uncles, cousins and friends; a host of special friends from Mountain 
            Empire Dialysis. 
            Calling hours are after 6 p.m. today at Estes Funeral Home, Coeburn, 
            Va. Friends may call at the residence at anytime. 
            Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home 
            chapel with the Rev. Harold Shortridge officiating.

            KINGSPORT - Calum Roland Shupe, infant son of Joel and Christy 
            Johnson Shupe, went to be with God Nov. 28, 2001. 
            Calum was born in Kingsport on Nov. 28, 2001 at Holston Valley 
            Medical Center. 
            In addition to his parents, Joel and Christy Johnson Shupe, 
            surviving are his paternal grandparents, Barbara and Billy Shupe, 
            Hiltons, Va.; paternal great-grandparents, Fancler and Lokeel 
            Mutter, Kingsport; paternal great-grandmother, Lucy Barnette, 
            Kingsport; maternal grandparents, Terry and Randall VanDerAa, 
            Rogersville and Danna Johnson, Blountville; maternal 
            great-grandmother, Esta Evans, Knoxville; aunt, Andrea Johnson,
