Mr. Christian was a retired truck driver from McGuffin Lumber
Company.
He was a member of Rocky Springs Baptist Church.
Mr. Christian was preceded in death by his parents, Allie and Carrie
Smith Christian; and brother, Donnie Christian.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Cooter Christian, Morristown; son,

- Marie Louise "Betty" Clark, 86, 104 Crown Colony, died
Thursday (Nov. 29, 2001) at her residence.
She was a native of Valley Stream, Long Island, N.Y., and had lived
in this area for the last 43 years. She was the daughter of the late
Harry W. and Dorothy Henderson LeBair.
She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and Ridgefields
Country Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her
husband, Paul Mitchell Clark; one daughter, Susan Dorothy Clark; and
one brother, Harry W. LeBair Jr.
Surviving are two sons, Paul Mitchell Clark Jr., Brenham, Texas, and
David Dudley Clark, Barrington, R.I.; two nieces, Loretta LeBair
Metcalf and Linda LeBair Parnell; eight grandchildren; and several
nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Episcopal
Church on Ravine Road in Kingsport.
The memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. Monday at the church.
The graveside will be held following the memorial service in the
cemetery of the church.

be with the Lord at 2:24 p.m. Friday (Nov. 30, 2001) at Holston
Valley Medical Center following an extended illness.
Betty was born in Sullivan Gardens, where she lived for most of her
life. She had worked for Dobyns Taylor and later for Sears in sales.
She
was a member of Poplar Grove Primitive Baptist Church.
Her father, John Wesley Short, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Orbin Dockery Jr., of the home; two
sons and daughters-in-law, Lee and Sherry Dockery, Gary Wayne and
Shannon Dockery, all of Kingsport; four grandchildren, Rebekah,
Christina, MacKenzie and Michala; a very special nephew, George
Wesley Stevens, Kingsport; mother, Jessie D. Short, Kingsport; four
sisters, Jeweldean Spurlock and husband Bill, Norma Hulse and
husband John Henry, Jimmie Stevens and husband John, Carolyn Oaks
and husband Lonnie; two brothers, Gary Ray Short and wife Kay, and

- George Arnold Easterly, 78, passed away on Friday (Nov.
30, 2001) at Fort Sanders Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.
Mr. Easterly was a retired educator from Morristown Hamblen West
High School, where he taught science, biology and chemistry for 37
years.
Mr. Easterly was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and
gardening. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Claudia Easterly.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Darrell Lott,
Knoxville; brother, the Rev. Franklin M. Easterly, Louisville, Ky.;
sister, Shirley Lawrence, Greeneville; grandchildren, Derrick and

A lifelong resident of Kingsport, John was a 1980 graduate of
Dobyns-Bennett High School and a 1991 graduate of East Tennessee
State University where he received his bachelor of business
administration degree in marketing. He was a sales representative
for Eastman Chemical Company and H.B. Fuller Company.
John was a member of Oakwood Forest Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Reece and Addie
Hurd; paternal grandparents, Guy and Nora Lawson.
Surviving are his mother, Ruth Lawson, Kingsport; father, Curtis
Lawson, Johnson City; sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Mike
Christian, Church Hill; stepniece, Megan Christian, Church Hill;
uncle, Steve Hurd and wife, Sharon; aunt, Mary Jo Davis, Kingsport;

Mrs. Light was born in Scott County, Va., and had lived in Kingsport
for many years.
She was a member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Light; a
son, Tommy Joe Light; parents, Orley and Margaret Absher Hudson; and
a sister, Louise Hudson.

- Odis Matilda Harris Maddux, 83, of Konnarock Road,
departed this life Friday evening (Nov. 30, 2001) at Wellmont
Holston Valley Medical Center.
A native of Washington County, Va., she was a homemaker and a member
of First Baptist Church of Kingsport. Mrs. Maddux was a member of
Fidelis Sunday School class.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Henry Harris and
Otra Litton Harris; sisters, Mable Drusk, Gladys Crawford, Myrtle
Hurt and Ardis Faust; and brother, Ted Harris.
Odis was a loving wife of Robert Leonard Maddux for 66 years.
November 30, 2001 was their anniversary. Also surviving are her

CITY, Va. - Virginia "Virgie" Lou Helbert McDavid, 94, entered
into rest at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation Hillside on Saturday
(Dec. 1, 2001).
Ms. McDavid was born April 15, 1907 in Scott County, Va. She was a
daughter of the late Floyd Clenna and Minerva Elizabeth Grigsby
Helbert.
She was of the Missionary Baptist faith.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,
Warner B. McDavid in 1992; twin babies in 1932; a son, Clennie
McDavid in 1953; seven brothers and two sisters; two granddaughters,
Betty Marie Jenkins and Mary Helen Anderson.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Alice
McDavid, Johnson City, and Herbert and Betty McDavid, Daniel Boone,
Va.; two daughters and son-in-law, Dorothy Faye Kindle, Gate City,

She was of the Baptist faith. Alice loved to play Bingo and loved
her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John H. and Delphia Mae
Fulkerson Fair.

#2. She enjoyed reading, working puzzles and walking.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Minnie Brooks
Estep; husband, Shelby H. Wolfenbarger; and four sisters, Bessie
Ramsey, Roxie Ayers, Lydia Ayers and Edith Parks.
