She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Katrina Young.

- Howard T. Barrett, 54, of 303 Amis Chapel Road,
entered into rest on Sunday (Dec. 2, 2001) at Wellmont Holston
Valley Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mr. Barrett was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County, and was a
retired employee of Holliston, Inc. of Church Hill where he worked
for 30 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to farm in his
spare time.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clint S. Barrett; and
brother, James F. Barrett.
Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 26 years, Lena Loretta
Wallace Barrett, Surgoinsville; one son, Larry S. Barrett, of the
home; two daughters and son-in-law, Amanda and Travis Russell,
Church Hill, and Anna Barrett, of the home; granddaughter, Haley Sue
Russell, Church Hill; his mother, Sarah Alice Barrett,

member of the Rock Springs United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Fink retired from Tennessee Eastman Company in 1984 after 41
years service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessee C. and Lillie
Carroll DeVault; husband of over 50 years, John W. Fink; sister,
Zelda Breeding; and four brothers, Verlin DeVault, Paul DeVault,

She was born Dec. 29, 1918 on Brownles Creek, Ky., and lived most of
her life in Big Stone Gap, Va. She was a member of the Big Stone Gap
OES No. 157. Jane's home for the last 14 months was Tri State
Comprehensive Care in Harrogate, Tenn. She made many wonderful
friends there.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Johnson; mother,
Elizabeth Smith; and brothers, Britt, Hiram and Clayton Smith.
Surviving are five children, Virginia Faye Hensley, Ewing, Va., Nell
Denny, Columbus, Ohio, Wanda Wells, Palm Bay, Fla., Linda Harper,
Columbus, Ohio, and Ted Johnson, Canal Winchester, Ohio; 14
grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two

Sgt. Roy C. Miller, 67, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT
- 1st Sgt. Roy C. Miller, 67, went to be with the Lord on
Sunday morning (Dec. 2, 2001) at Greystone Health Care Center after
a brief illness.
He was born in Scott County, Va., and had lived in Kingsport most of
his life. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was active in the U.S. Army & Reserves. He retired after 43 years
of service. Mr. Miller was 1st Sgt. in the U.S. Army D Company,
844th Engineering Battalion, and was also an instructor for the
3292nd USAR School and retired from the Army Maintenance Shop as a
wage leader. He was also a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner.
Mr. Miller enjoyed his mechanic work and received the Meritorious
Service Medal for enthusiasm, leadership ability and dedication to
duty, continually improved unit moral and mobilization readiness.
1st Sgt. Miller's outstanding achievements and devotion to duty are
in keeping with the highest tradition of the military service and
reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the U.S. Army
Reserve.
He was an amazing and outstanding husband, father, brother and
friend.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby T. Reed; father,
Bradley Patton Miller; sisters, Rettie Miller and Opal Miller
Williams; a brother, Joe Miller; and several half-brothers and
half-sisters.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ruth Miller, of the home; daughters,
Kimberly D. New and husband Ronald, Surgoinsville, Vicki Dingus and
husband Ronnie, Jonesborough, Nicole Miller and husband Tony,
Kingsport; grandchildren, Bradley Thomas New and David Wayne Dingus;

Mr. Morgan was a retired coal miner, a U.S. Army veteran, member of
UMWA, Lonesome Pine Moose Club, Hugh Latham Lodge No. 107 IOOF,
Coeburn Masonic Lodge No. 97, Coeburn RAC No. 79, and a Shriner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer E. and Mary Estelle
Nickols Morgan; two daughters, Sabrina Morgan and Janet Morgan; a
brother, J.P. Morgan.

She was born in West Virginia on October 30, 1925, and had lived
most of her adult life in Norton, Va. She was an active member of
Blackman Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church and continued to support the
church after making her home in Rogersville for the last five years.
She
was preceded in death by her husband, George Noaks; and parents,
Rock and Francis Rivers.

NATURAL
BRIDGE, Va. - Frances Rebecca Robinson Perkins, 98, died in
the Stonewall Jackson Hospital Sunday (Dec. 2, 2001).
She was born on Sept. 25, 1903 in Glade Spring, Va., and was
preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lorenzo Dow Perkins. She
was the daughter of Moses Walter and Suzannah Janet McGinnis
Robinson.
She graduated from Emory and Henry College in 1925 and was the
oldest alumna of her Alma Mater. She taught English and Latin in
Tazewell, Dickenson and Rockbridge Counties. She attended James
Madison University to earn certification in Library Science and
until retirement in 1970 she was the librarian at Natural Bridge
High School.
She was an active member of Beth Horon United Methodist Church of
Natural Bridge Station and taught Sunday School until 1996. She was
the regent of the Natural Bridge Chapter of National Society of
Daughters of the American Revolution for 12 years. She belonged to
the Virginia Society of Mayflower Descendants and collected books
and materials on the Plymouth Pilgrims. She was a charter member of
the Rockbridge Retired Teachers Association, a member of the
National, Virginia, and Rockbridge Education Associations. She
supported and participated in conservation groups and activities.
Surviving are her children, Frances P. Hines, Jonesville, Va.,
Joseph D. Perkins, Dorothy Perkins, Gail Sperka, McGinnis J.
Perkins, all of Natural Bridge, Va., Rebecca P. Jones, Jonesville,
Va., Walter Perkins, Crozet and Mary P. Knight, Ashland, Va.;

Cole Reach, 90, Big Stone Gap, Va.
BIG
STONE GAP, Va. - Asalee Cole Reach died Tuesday (Dec. 4, 2001)
at the Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol, Tenn., at age 90.
She was born in Andover, Va., the daughter of the late Florida Baker
Cole and Samuel Preston Cole. She spent most of her life in Big
Stone Gap.
She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Big Stone Gap.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Reach.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy Reach Castle and
Charles E. Castle Jr., Bristol, Tenn.; two sons and two
daughters-in-law, Herbert W. Reach and Nancy Hewitt Reach, Bristol,
Tenn., and William P. Reach and Lila Garrison Reach, Homosassa,
Fla.; one grandson, David Reach, Blountville; six granddaughters,
Karen Castle Flagle, Bristol, Tenn., Lorrie Castle McDonald,
Murfreesboro, Cindy Castle, Bristol, Tenn., Jenny Reach Wilson,
Bristol, Tenn., Beverly Reach Perry, Huntsville, Ala., Julie Reach
Woods, Richmond, Va.; one sister, Roberta Cole Messer, Big Stone
Gap, seven great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Home in Big Stone Gap.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the
American Legion Cemetery with the Rev. Rick Whitten officiating.

Milton Robelot, 92, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT
- Rev. Milton Paul Robelot, 92, 98 Periwinkle Place, Crown
Colony, entered eternal rest Monday (Dec. 3, 2001) in Indian Path
Medical Center, from complication of pneumonia.
He was a native of New Orleans and moved to Kingsport in 1944 to
work for Tennessee Eastman Company as a project engineer. In 1948 he
opened his own architectural business.
Since the time he was in grammar school, Milton has played an active
role in the ministry of the Catholic church. In 1972 he attended the
University of Tennessee to study for the Diaconate. On September 14,
1974, he was ordained a permanent deacon in the Catholic church. He
served as permanent deacon at St. Dominic's Catholic Church until
his death.
Milton leaves his wife of 63 years, Macile Bright Robelot, of the
home; one daughter, Kay Robelot Floyd and husband Tinsley Floyd,
Tallahassee, Fla.; Bill and Eva DeBusk, beloved friends of the home.
The
family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at St.
Dominic's Catholic Church with a Christian Wake prayer service at 8
p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday at the church with
Bishop Joseph E. Kurtz, D.D., Bishop of the Knoxville Diocese along
with the Priest of the Knoxville Diocese.
Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus.

Dennis Hwy., Kingsport, Tenn. 37660.

Russell, 75, Duffield, Va.
DUFFIELD,
Va. - Lucy Wade Russell, 75, (Jasper community), died
Tuesday (Dec. 4, 2001).
She was born in Lee County, Va., on May 18, 1926 and was the
daughter of the late Lindsey Wade and Ann Deboard Wade.
She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her
husband, Ray Russell (Dec. 5, 1998); son, Lester (Buddy) Russell;
grandson, Darin Wells; great-grandson, Theodore Wells; and several
brothers and sisters.
Surviving are daughters, Judy Morelock, Kingsport, Jewel Hobbs,
Nashville, Tenn., Penny Arwood, Jasper, Va., and Linda Strong,
Church Hill; son, Augusta (Pedro) Wade, Fall Branch; 17
grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; sister, Sarah
Elizabeth Bledsoe, Kingsport; brothers, Warner Wade, Church Hill,
and Lindsey Wade, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home,
Weber City, Va., and anytime at the residence of a daughter, Penny
Arwood in Jasper.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Jasper Central
Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Sweeney officiating.
Music will be provided by Gene Sweeney and Dee Caudill.
The body will lie in state one hour prior to services.
Burial will be in the Meredith Cemetery in the Jasper community.

Jr., died Sunday (Dec. 2, 2001) at the University of Kentucky
Medical Center in Lexington, Ky.

MOUNT
CARMEL - Maggie Lou B. Rutledge, 94, formerly of 201 Main
Street, was called home Monday (Dec. 3, 2001) at Brookhaven Health
Care.
She lived the last three years at 431 Holly Street, Mount Carmel,
and a month at Brookhaven Health Care Center.
Born in Hawkins County, where she had lived her entire life, Mrs.
Rutledge was a member of the Eastern Star, Fairview Chapter No. 80,
and a charter member of the Mount Carmel Senior Citizens.
She was the oldest living member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Mount
Carmel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Kate Byington; her
husband of 57 years, Robert Rutledge; daughter, Norma Helen Ballman;
an infant son, Fredrick Rutledge; great-grandson, Josh Sams; and
brother, Buck Byington.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lyle (Dorothy) Sams,
Kingsport, and Mrs. Jimmy C. (Carolyn) Light, Fall Branch; two sons,
Paul C. Rutledge and wife, Mary Emma, who has been a very special
daughter-in-law and caregiver, Mount Carmel, Bobby Joe Rutledge and
wife, Helen Christian Rutledge, Kingsport; three granddaughters,
Linda Gerwig, Pasadena, Md., Janet Davis, Bristol, Tenn., and Robin
Wininger and husband, Wally, Ft. Bragg, N.C.; nine grandsons, Mike

He was a farmer.

DeVon Williams; one brother, Pete Williams; and one sister, Ruby

KINGSPORT
- John (Johnny) Cecil Wright Jr., 38, passed away Monday
(Dec. 3, 2001) at his home after a brief illness.
Johnny was born October 9, 1962 in Kingsport, a son of John Cecil
and Betty Sue Lunsford Wright Sr., Kingsport. He was employed by the
Engineering Sales of Blountville for 18 years. He attended Ketron
High School and graduated from North High School and Northeast
State.
He was a member of the Forrest View Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Johnny is survived by his wife, Karen
Jackson Wright, Kingsport; two stepchildren, Theresa Davis and
Gillian Bennett, both of Big Stone Gap, Va.; his maternal
grandmother, Cora Lunsford, Kingsport; brother, Chris Wright,
Kingsport; father and mother-in-law, Lawrence and June Jackson, Big
Stone Gap, Va.; stepgrandchildren, Hunter Owens, Sean Owens, Devin
Davis and Sierra Stratton.
Calling hours will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at the East Lawn
Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home
chapel with the Rev. Eddie Shephard and Billy Wayne Elkins
officiating.
