I only made one trip on the Satucket as Third Mate. It was hard for my former watch partner - Domingo to get used to calling me "Mr.", as he wound up on my watch, but I didn't ping on it. On my next ship I was back to AB, but a few months later, promoted again, never to step back. I left Socony in the later fifties after they went from thirty-seven ships down to seven.
I spent almost a year "on the beach" before getting a job with MSTS, my first ship with them being the
USNS Geiger.
