Francis A. Reed, 72, of 680 American Bangor Road, Bangor, formerly of Allentown, died Friday, Sept. 11, at home. He was the husband of the late Louise (Bauder) Reed.

He was a display artist for the former Hess's department store, Allentown, and Dixie Cup, Wilson.

He studied art at Kutztown University and exhibited work with other students at Bynden Wood Mountain Center in 1952.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Paul E. Sr. and Emily E. (Palmer) Reed.

A Navy veteran of World War II, he served as a signalman, third class, and was commended in 1945 for performance in the Pacific Theater.

Survivors: Sons, Jan of Bath, and Christian and Brian, both of Emmaus; daughter, Carol Brown of Trexlertown; brothers, Paul E. of Fogelsville and Palmer in Costa Rica, and a granddaughter.

He retired from the Army in 1970 as a first sergeant after 21 years of service. After retiring, he worked for the Army Corps of Engineers department of engineering and housing.

Born in Hellertown, he was a son of the late Norman W. Sr. and Pearl M. (Henninger) Bauder.

He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Lawton. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5263, Lawton.
