  2036 F iv Anna E. WEILAND 1 was born 2, 3 on 1 Feb 1898 in Pennsylvania. She died 4 in Nov 1973.

May 14, 2005: Our information is Anna married Edwin SPERLING, however, there is some conflicting information in this part of the database.

1) Census research records list Edwin's wife as Madge, which could be the informal name she used.

2) The obituaries of 3 deceased children of Edwin SPERLING lacks information on their mother or contains conflicting information. Margaret's obituary only lists her father, Edwin Sperling. Marian's obituary states her mother was Madge WALTERS SPERLING. Jack's obituary says his mother was Anna WEILAND SPERLING.

3) All three obituaries list the same surving siblings with the same surname for married sisters. Also the census records show these same siblings.

4) We find it difficult to think Edwin was married twice, since Jack was not the youngest child, and appears with his father in the 1930 record.

OR

I think a more likely scenario is that Madge Walters was the first wife and mother of all of these children. Died young maybe right after 1930 census. Edwin then marries Anna E. Weiland who for all intents and purposes is the mother of these children so when Jack J. Sperling dies 70 years later, the "mother " he knew even as a very young child is listed. Yet the older children with memories of their mother they could relay to their children have it listed correctly
We will continue to research this dilemma.
