He worked for First Valley Bank, Bethlehem, for 33 years before retiring as vice president of the commercial loan department in 1984. After retirement he was a licensed real estate agent with the Judd Real Estate Agency, Bethlehem, and then a commercial l oan officer with Keystone Savings & Loan, Bethlehem, until 1991.

Born in Fountain Hill, he was a son of the late Earle and Helen (Groth) Weierbach.

He was a member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Emmaus, and a former elder and consistory member of First United Church of Christ, Bethlehem.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He served on the USS Dayton, was a plank owner of the ship, and member of its alumni group. He was a member of the Edward F. Ackerman American Legion Post 397.

He was also a member of the Dewey Fire Company and Beethoven Waldheim, both Hellertown, and the Society for the Advancement of Management in the Lehigh Valley.

Survivors: Wife; brother, Kenneth of Fountain Hill; sister, Grace, wife of Robert Hammer of Allentown, nieces and nephews.

Catherine E. Souder of Perkasie died Wednesday, August 20, 1997 in Grand View Hospital. She was 67.

She was the wife of Gerald G. Souder. The couple had celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary on October 1, 1996.

Born in Bethlehem, she was a daughter of Howard T. and Ursala (Meader) Ruch.

Mrs. Souder was employed by the former Bucks County Bank for several years until retiring.

She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Perkasie.

Mrs. Souder was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, lenape Chapter No. 339, Sellersville, and was a former member of the Women's Club of Perkaise.

Surviving with her husband are two sons, Dean H. and his wife ,Kay (Deetz) of Salford Township and Dale G. and his wife, Mary (Luebbe) Souder of Franconia Township; a daughter, Denise A. and her husband, Richard T. Lunoe of Perkaise; two granddaughters, Sarah K. and Amy L. Souder; and a sister, Pauline Petre of Colorado Springs, Colo. She was preceded in death by a sister, Beulah Shimer and a brother, Howard Ruch.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 25, 1997 at 11 a.m. in Trinity Evangelical lutheran Church, Fifth and Chestnut streets, Perkaise. Interment will be in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran cemetery, Perkaise. Friends may call Monday morning from 10 until 11 a.m. in the church.

Rosemary Ursula (Meder) Yurkanin, age 89, a former resident of Millis and Sarasota, FL, died on Sunday afternoon, April 19, 2009, at Medway Country Manor. Born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Aloysius and Rose (Tunner) Meder. She was a graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School and continued her education at an area business school. Mrs. Yurkanin was a devoted wife and mother who created loving and beautiful homes after each of the many moves her family made to various states in the country. One memorable home was a sailboat, "The Bombay Clipper." A secretary with the Federal Government at the Natick Laboratories during the 1960s, she later worked for several years with her husband at his engineering firm, Team, Inc. After retirement, she and her husband spent the winter months at their home at Camelot Lakes in Sarasota, FL. Predeceased by her husband, Richard John Yurkanin, and a son, Richard John Yurkanin, Jr., she is survived by a daughter, Charmagne Ann LaPrise and husband Frank of Millis, a grandson, Nikolai Yurkanin of Sterling, a granddaughter, Alyssa Franciszka (LaPrise) Greenwood and husband William of Sandwich, numerous nieces and nephews, and a cousin, Dolores Carson. A graveside funeral service will be held at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Auburn Road, Millis, on Sunday, Apr. 26 th at 12:30p.m. Friends may gather with the family at the LaPrise residence, 30 Baltimore Street, Millis, after the service at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rosemary's memory to the Friends of the Council on Aging, c/o Millis Senior Center, 900 Main St., Millis, MA 02054. Meder was an inspector in the structural steel department of Bethlehem Steel Corp. before retiring last year after 42 years' service.

Meder was the husband of Sylvia A. (Troell) Meder.
He was a mechanical technician for Unisys Corp.
Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Clement and Sarah (Shook) Meder.
Survivors: Wife and son; daughters, Susan Scholl of Norristown and Deborah J., at home; brother, Clement W. of Bethlehem, and three grandchildren.
