The Grays came to America from Ireland in 1846 (during Great Irish Famine) on a sailing vessel across the Atlantic and a Riverboat up the St. Lawrence river to Toronto, a seven-week trip.

BURIAL: Alexander Gray and Isabella Yourt Gray are buried in an old cemetery in Hillsburgh, Wellington, Ontario, Canada. Other stones include two daughters of Alexander and Isabella: Mary A., born 5 June 1841, died 19 March 1856 and Sarah, born 25 July 1842, died 4 September 1857. The stones in the old cemetery had all been brought to the front of the cemetery, and set in concrete. the stone of Alexander Gray had been destroyed, after it was re-set.

There are two records of an Alexander Grey, one from Toronto to Brampton, the other from Kingston to Port Stanley.
