David Deforest Dunlap

Dunlap Receives WWI Medal
    David D. Dunlap of gower received a special commemorative medal honoring World War I veterans during a ceremony held January 22 at the Gower convalescent Center where he is a resident.
    Lt. Col. Frank Flesher, director of the National Military Heritage Museum, made the presentation to Dunlap with approximately 50 family members and friends attending. several members of the Gower American Legion Post also attended the event.
    Dunlap was born November 28, 1894 and enlisted in Buchanan County in the 140th Infantry Regiment of the 35th Infantry Division on September 23, 1917.
    He fought in the following major battles of World War I: Alsace, June, 1918; Muase Argonne Offensive, September 25 through October 1, 1918; and Second Dom Louys, October, 1918.
    Dunlap also received a 1994 membership card to American Legion Post No.
11 in St. Joseph.
    He was honored guest at a reception following the ceremony.
