An armed guard sitting on the far right is posted as an outlook to survey the surrounding countryside below for encroachments. A huge military bridge is clearly visible in the center. A large fort can be seen in the distance perched above the north banks of the Holston River. When magnified, a flag pole is barely visible atop the mountain fort.
