The article below was published in The Memphis Daily Appeal on December 19, 1877. It related Jack Hunt's hanging for the brutal double murder of his wife, seventeen-year-old Mrs. Margaret Ann (Davis) Hunt and their unborn baby in Tellico Plains, Monroe County, TN. The same newspaper published the subsequent article below on December 20, 1877, which provided a more detailed and descriptive account of his execution.
