William M. Sehorn, New Athens Postmaster in 1869

A new postmaster was appointed to Athens Post Office in McMinn CO, TN according to the above article published in The Athens Post on Friday, April 2, 1869. Mr. T. J. Cate, previous postmaster, was replaced by Mr. William M. Sehorn. According to Sam P. Ivins, editor of The Athens Post, this was a political appointment defined by party lines.

A week later on Friday, April 9, 1869, The Athens Post published a similar article explaining that Athens Post Office had been relocated to Mr. Sehorn's business establishment in town.
