In December 1854, a new post office was established at the Parksville community in Polk CO, TN according to this article from The Athens Post published December 29, 1854. The clipping below from the same newspaper announced that Postmaster Col. James Parks would distribute the newspapers to local subscribers in the area and forward names of new subscribers.
