A comprehensive
listing of non-catalogued items of historical and/or genealogical
value located at the Central Branch of the Santa Barbara Public
Library has been compiled by Cari Thomas 9 Apr 2003, working in conjunction
with the Santa Barbara Public Library staff. The complete listing can

Among these are
the 70 volume set of the “War of the Rebellion: a compilation of the
official records of the Union and Confederate armies” and its
companion 30 volume set of the “Official records of the Union and
Confederate navies in the War of the Rebellion” (Genealogy); City
Directories of Santa Barbara: 1875; 1895-1896; 1901; 1903-present
(Genealogy, Locked Case, and Telephone Directories); and the “Personal
Name Index To ‘The New York Times Index,’ 1851-1999” (main floor; left
of staircase).
Through
interlibrary loan services, the Santa Barbara Public Library loans a
limited number of microfilm reels of their holdings of local
