1264 Achurch was dedicated by St Feoca
1846 - The curent chruch was built by the donation of land by the Hon. Anna Maria Agar and her son Thomas James Agar-Robartes (later Baron Robartes). The new church cost £1,485. It was built in early english style and was designed by J.L. Pearson, who was also the Architect for Truro Cathedral.
1857-Initially the church became a chapel of ease in the parish of Feock and was known as St Peters. But, at the consecration on 23rd May 1857 it was dedicated to St John evangelist. The Agar-Robartes famliy made an endowment of £60 per annum and this was made up to £150 by the Incorporated Church Society and the Ecclesiastical Commissioners. It was noted in the 'West Briton' that the ships on the port of Devoran 'were gaily bedecked with a profusion of colours of all descriptions'
1873 The church was seperated from Feock taking responsiblilty of the area. The first vicar was Rev. J.H. Gillian.
1889 The present bell were fitted having been cast at the Whitechapel foundry of Mears & Stainbank. It replaced the original that became cracked during an over- nthusiastic celebration of New Year's eve.
1903-A new organ, built by sweetlands of Bath was installed.
