1. Abraham Hill was born about 1785 and died on 20 Feb 1841 in South Carolina, about age 56.
The Hill cousins are still researching this ancestor. We do not know where he was born, nor any of his ancestors, but we reckon he was born about 1785. He married a "Polly" which some descendants believe to be a woman named Mary Ann Taylor. The couple lived in the Anderson District of South Carolina on Bear Creek Waters of Rocky River. They owned 100 acres of land. Abraham Hill was a farmer by occupation.
On the 1800 South Carolina Census there is an Abraham Hill living in Darlington and another Abraham Hill living in Edgefield. On the 1810 South Carolina Census Abraham Hill is again listed in Edgefield. It is not known if either of these is our Abraham Hill.

Abraham married Mary Ann "Polly" Taylor . Mary was born in 1794 in Georgia.
Not much is known about "Polly". Some descendants believe she was Mary Ann Taylor. In her grandson's memoirs he wrote that her name was "Martha" and that she was half Cherokee Indian. According to the 1850 Anderson County, South Carolina census the following information is recorded:

In the memoirs of Asa L. Argo, her grandson, he states that his grandmother, Martha Hill was "half Cherokee Indian". He also writes that "Polly" was the nickname that her father gave her. As of 2003 nothing more is known about Martha's ancestors.

In the War of Northern Aggression, 1861-1865, Abraham Hill enlisted with Captain Beauregard's Company, South Carolina Light Artillery, and served as a private until the end of the war. He was at the surrender with Robert E. Lee at Appomattox, Virginia, according to Ferguson's Battery was organized in April, 1862, at Charleston, South Carolina. After serving in South Carolina, the unit moved to Mississippi and fought under General Gist at Jackson. Later it joined the Army of Tennessee and was assigned to Palmer's, R. Martin's, and R. Cobb's Battalion of Artillery. Not engaged at Chickamauga, the battery served with the army from Chattanooga to Nashville. However, most of the men and all of its guns were captured at Nashville. Captains R.T. Beauregard and T.B. Ferguson were in command.

William David Argo enlisted with the Confederate Army at age 16 with Cowan's Regt. Company G. He filed a pension in Oglethorpe County.
He was an ardent student of the Bible as long as he lived and served faithfully in his church. He and his wife Nancy Bolt were married for 56 years.

Richard Allen, 85, died November 3, 2007, after a brief bout with
cancer. He has gone to be with his Lord and Savior, who he so
diligently loved and served.
Born February 20, 1922 in Athens, Georgia, he was the son of the late
James General and Birdie Leard Allen. Due to the early death of both
parents, Richard was raised at his beloved Thornwell Orphanage.
After proudly serving in the United Stares Army during WWII, Richard
lived in Monterey, California, where he managed the Fort Ord Officers
Club for over 50 years until his retirement. He moved to Greenville
five years ago to be close to his family. He is survived by a sister,
Azilee Allen Wham, nieces Brenda Garrett, Patsy Wham Robertson, Kim
Henrikson, Tricia Reamer and nephews William and Edward Allen, and
well as many local family members he has discovered and grown to love
through his passion and study of Genealogy. Richard was predeceased
by three brothers, Clifford Allen of Washington State, Edward Allen
of Charleston, J.G. Allen of Athens, Ga., and his nephew Kyle
Robertson. He is survived and predeceased by many of his dear
Thornwell brothers and sisters, as well.
A skilled artist and caricaturist, he has degrees from the Famous
Artist School in Westport, Conn., and Kingsland School of Puppetry in
Brandon, Vt., where he received training in art, cartooning &
puppetry. He was a very special "Uncle Richard" to his nieces and
nephews, always entertaining them when they were young with his
many "magic tricks." He traveled extensively, enjoying life along the
way, as well as friendship with his friends & family and sharing a
hearty laugh. In his last years, he devoted much of him time to
studying God's word and praising his Heavenly Father.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Wood Mortuary,
conducted by Rev. Tom Riddle. Visitation will be held 10 to 11 a.m.
Monday at Wood Mortuary. The family is at the home of his niece,
Patsy Robertson, 304 Piney Mountain Rd., Greenville, SC 29609. In
lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Thornwell Home, P.O. Box

Survivors include sisters and brothers-in-law, Mae and Clay Maney, Cornelia, Geraldine and Rick Doss, Martin, Ruby and Harold Smith, Alto, and Jimmie Sue and Roger Thurmond, Athens; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayman and Frances Hill and Tommy and Remona Hill, all of Baldwin, and Ricky and Violet Hill, Homer.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 21, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Revs. Rich Hulsey, J. Clarence Reynolds, Terry Benfield, and Scott Smith officiating. Burial was in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

CINCINNATI -- Frank Gregorin, 90, of the Cincinnati community died Feb. 13, 2006, at his home. He was born Oct. 17, 1915, in Little Falls, N.Y., to Frank Gregorin Sr. and Mary Yerina Gregorin. He was president of the school board for a number of years in Little Falls. He was an Army Signal Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and owned an appliance store in Little Falls for more than 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Gregorin of the home; two sons, Dr. David Gregorin of Sewickley, Pa., and Dennis Gregorin of Little Falls; two daughters, Donna Schwieder of Cincinnati and Debbie Jensen of Gentry; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove with the Rev. David Gregorin officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs.
Pallbearers will be Danny Schwieder, Adam Gregorin, Tim Gregorin, Jonathan Turner, Steven Gregorin, David Elijah Gregorin.

SUMMERS, Ark. — Frank Gregorin, 90, died February 13, 2006, at his home at 13433 Gregorin Rd., Summers, Ark. He was born October 17, 1915, in Little Falls, the son of Frank and Mary Yerina Gregorin Sr.
A 1923 graduate of Little Falls High School, Gregorin was a World War II veteran with the Army 65th Signal Corps. He was active in the Little Falls community before and after he moved to Arkansas. For a number of years he was a member of the Kiwanis Club and was elected to the Little Falls Board of Education where he served a term as president. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church and served on its board of trustees. He owned and operated a General Electric appliance store for over 30 years. Up until five years ago (during his last summer to Little Falls) he was still making repair calls to Little Falls Hospital and individual residents as well going on weekly golf outings. He enjoyed his winters as “Mr. Fix it” on his son-in-law, Fred Schwieder’s, farm.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Juanita Gregorin; two sons, Dr. David Gregorin of Sewickley, Pa., and Dennis Gregorin of Little Falls; two daughters, Donna Schwieder of Summers, Ark., and Debbie Jensen of Gentry, Ark.; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held February 15 in Prairie Grove, Ark. Burial followed at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs, Ark.

Mr. White was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II, and had worked as a painter for Construction Steele.
He was a member of Community Baptist Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, January 26, in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Frost White; one daughter, Nancy Lord, Hartwell; one son, Michael Frank White, Danielsville; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Born July 28, 1926, in South Georgia, Mrs. King was a daughter of the late Richard and Maggie Lee Clark Hill.
She was a homemaker and of the Baptist denomination.
Mrs. King was first married to the late Frank Junior Willis, and then to the late George E. King. She was preceded in death by two sons, Billy Alton Willis and Larry Junior Willis, a grandson, Darron Martin, a sister, Dorothy Payne, and a brother, Melvin Hill.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, in B.D. Ginn Memorial Chapel of Ginn Funeral Home, Carnesville, with the Rev. Terry Meeks officiating. Burial was in the Ruhamah Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Martin, Toccoa, and Gail Richardson, Hartwell; two sons, Marshall Willis, Toccoa, and Roger King, Hartwell; five brothers, Dewey Hill, Nicholson, Claude Hill, Commerce, Roy Hill and Dwain Hill, both of Carnesville, and Clinton Hill, Lavonia; two sisters, Mildred McFarlin and Virginia Adams, both of Carnesville; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church, 1543 Anderson Highway, Hartwell, GA 30643, or to the Hospice Foundation.

TROY, AL - Colonel Charles Lewis Woodhurst, 68, of 205 Brookwood Dr., Troy, AL, died Monday, March 24, 2003 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, AL. A memorial service will be at Shandon Baptist Church, Columbia, SC, Monday, March 31, 2003 at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA, April 14, 2003 at 9:00am est. with full military honors.
He is preceded in death by his father, Claude Hamilton Woodhurst; mother & stepfather, Mayzell & Tom Bell; brother, Tonnie Bell; and son, Bobby Arnold.
He was born at Abbeville, SC on May 18, 1934. He was a graduate of Clemson University in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He entered the Army in March 1960 and was assigned to Fort Riley, Kansas after completing the Basic Infantry Officer Course at Fort Benning, GA. After spending three years in various infantry assignments at Fort Riley, he entered flight school at Fort Rucker, Alabama and graduated as a Fixed Wing Aviator in April 1964. After flight school, he served in several aviation assignments including, Boston, Mass., Hue, Vietnam, U.S. Army Aviation School Commander, Assault Helicopter Co, Pleiku, Vietnam, Faculty U.S. Army Aviation School.
In 1971, he attended the Command & General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He served two years in Fort Jackson, SC. His next assignment was Frankfurt, Germany. He served as Deputy Chief of Staff at Fort Rucker for three years. Following this assignment, he was transferred to Washington, D.C., where he worked in the Operations Directorate of the joint Chiefs of Staff. He was assigned to Royal Air Force Station, Mildenhall, England, as Mission Commander with the European Airborne Command Post. He held that job until July 1985, when he became Commanding Officer of the U.S. Army Air Traffic Control Group at Fort Huachuca, AZ. After this Command assignment, he was selected to become the U.S. Military Attache to the country of Nepal in Oct. 1986. By then he had served five overseas tours. Upon returning to the states, he became a member of the faculty at the Air War College Maxwell AFB, Alabama.
His military decorations include the Silver Star, the Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star Medal with V device and two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Air War Medal with 40 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Meritorious Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, and Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. During his Army career, he earned a MBA degree from the University of Georgia and a MA degree from the University of Southern California. In 1984, he undertook further Post Graduate work at Cambridge University, England.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Woodhurst; daughter and son-in-law, Machelle & Jackie Rogers; granddaughter, Addie Rogers; and grandson, Duane Arnold, all of Troy, AL; brother, Bill Woodhurst, Abbeville, SC; and sister, Mary Sumter, Anderson, SC.
