Children of John Spilman and Ellen Georgina Ellerker

John was the oldest son of Thomas Spilman and Harriet Aitken of Whitton, England.  He married Ellen Georgina Ellerker.  She was from Hull in Yorkshire, England.  John and Ellen were farmers and in 1881 John is listed as the farmer of 145 acres in N. Ferriby, England. John's brother Daniel came to America.  It would be John's oldest son that would set out for Canada.  John Spilman was born in 1848 and died in 1908 and his head stone still is at the Alkborough Church in England.  His wife Ellen died in 1915 and is also listed on the headstone:

John and Ellen Georgina had 9 children and John Ellerker Spilman was the one who moved to Canada.

1-May Spilman 1879-1960 born in North Ferriby, England and married to Theodore White    Theodore was a Curate and missionary in British Guyana.
2-Kate Spilman born 1881 in North Ferriby, England and never married.  She died November 25, 1938 and is buried in Alkborough, England. Here head stone is shown below.

3-Ethel Spilman was born 1883 in Lincolnshire, England and married L. Booth.  She had 2 children; John and Ethel Booth
4-John Ellerker Spilman was born in 1885 and married Ethel Barley in England.

He had lived at Flatt's farm Alkborough, England.  Below is a photograph of the area taken in May 2002.

The family also lived at Prospect House.  The building had a fire and was under repair at the time the photo was taken in May 2002 (Below).

Houses: The children were born and brought up at Prospect House, Alkborough, Lincolnshire. There is another Prospect House in the nearby village of Whitton. This was the home of Georgina Spilmann after she married Stanley Spink. The house is currently owned by Hugh Spink. (2002)

John Ellerker Spilman  left for Canada with his large family in 1928 for Canada. The family of John Ellerker Spilman and Ethel Alice (Barley) Spilman left Liverpool England Pier 13 in April of 1928 on a boat named Doric, White Star Dominion. They arrived at Halifax April 14, 1928 at Pier 21. They had 6 children shown below;

5-Harry Spilman June 03, 1887-April 17, 1980 Aylseby, Lincolnshire, England married Phyllis Emily Hind.

This is a photo of Harry in 1912 at a shooting party.

Harry and Phyllis had 2 children.  Ann married a Mr. Price and ran the Hotel in Topsham, near Exter, Devon, England.  Her brother John Ellerker Spilman is a farmer in Grimsby, Lincolnshire Eng.  John  was High Sheriff of Humberside in 1989-90.

6-Constance Spilman was born in 1889 and died March 06, 1918. She lived in Alkborough and never married.

7- Helen (Nel) Spilman born 1891 in Lincolnshire, England and died May 28, 1983 in Whitton. She married Albert Farrow.  He was a Navel officer and he drown at sea.

Albert and Nell had two children; Albert John Ellerker Farrow (1920-1997) and Georgina Mary Farrow (1916-1997).  Georgina had a son named Richard.

8- Alec Spilman born 1894 in Whitton, England.  He died March 22, 1950 as a result of a shooting accident. He married Nell Clipton and had two children, Nigel and John..

9-Georgina Spilman was born in 1896 and died November 02, 1986 in Whitton, England.  She married Stanley Morris Spink and they had 6 children; Alec Morris 1917-1985, Georgina Myfanaway (Mrs. Allan Creasy) born 1918, Ralph Stanley 1920-2009, Jeanne Annette 1922-2008, John Harry Frederick 1926 and Hugh M E Born 1937.
