Meet Conductor Lord:
FIFTY-SIX years of service with the Erie Railroad were recently completed by Charles Lord, of Port Jervis, N.Y. He entered the service as brakeman, Nov. 9, 1870, and since Oct. 3, 1883, has been conductor. For many years his run has been between Port Jervis and Honesdale. Conductor Lord is 78 years old. He is popular with the traveling public. He likes his job and has no idea of retiring. In fact, he says, he would rather be on active duty than have a pension.
