EDITOR JOURNAL: Under separate cover I am sending pictures of three of our oldest members who have held continuous membership for over 40 years, and have received the honorary badge of the G. I. D.

Bro. Cyrus R. Bennett, Div. 35, was born in Nova Scotia in 1831 and came to this country in 1847, locating in Wayland. His work for the Erie began in 1850, and lasted till the outbreak of the Civil War, when he, with two brothers, enlisted. After receiving an honorable discharge be again entered the service of the Erie and remained in continual service till a few years ago, when failing sight compelled him to resign. In his long service he never met with and accident. For many years his run was from Rochester to Elmira, and later from Rochester to Binghamton, Rochester division.

Brother Bennett is a charter and life member of the Rochester Railroad Y.M.C.A., a member of Powers Post, G.A.R., and for 44 years has been a member and trustee of Corn Hill Methodist Church. During this length of time he has made his home in the Third ward, spending his summers at Conesus lake. Of the three members to receive honorary badges Brother Bennett bas been enrolled longest in the organization, joined the Brotherhood in 1869, and has been a member continuously for 44 years. He was an employee of the Erie railroad for 60 years.
